Hi guys.
One of the steel tubes that go to the front wheel of my bike broke off while ago.
Is glueing it back together with epoxy a viable solution, or not?
I got some for fixing my sink and I see it says on the box that it can glue metal, so I figured, hey maybe it will work.

Sure, why not, what could go wrong.
>>
>broke welded metal
>wants to know if epoxy will work

I don't see a single flaw with this plan... but you might as well try it since you have the epoxy already.
>>
>>1186155
it can break off again.
I actually rode for 20-30kms with it being broken, so only one of them held the integrity of the bike. It wasn't on purpose, I just didn't notice.
Anyway, the broken one is the lower one, if it matters.

So my old computer's graphics card shit itself after 5 years and its a shitty laptop so i dont want to go through the hassle of replacing the card just to continue having a shitty computer. Ive decided to build a computer but its my first time doing so. I did some research and Ive compiled a list of parts and im scared i may have fucked up somewhere down the line so i figured i should have someone who actually knows their shit check to make sure everything i have would be compatible and work well together. Im planning on using this computer for gaming and because my last one was so shit id like my new one to get at least decent settings so if you have any suggestions that would work better than id enjoy hearing it.
CPU- Intel Core i3-7100
Graphics Card- Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti
Motherboard- Fatal1ty B250M
Memory- Super Talent Project X
Case- Fractal Design Define R5
So the only parts i havent picked out are the hard drive (because that doesnt take a genius to figure out) and my power supply so again, suggestions would be appreciated.

Hey /diy/
i think i'm gonna need your help.

so i was thinking of buying a mini fridge (pic related) and turning it into a mini AC unit.

now i know that fridges blow hot air out the back so i was thinking of making some some sort of tube with a fan to blow it out the window and another fan that's gonna blow the cool air from the fridge into the room.

i'm a noob with electronics so could use some help on how to attach the fans to it (just gonna use normal PC fans)

So I found this corpse in the woods a couple of weeks ago, probably a straight cat I dunno.

I think that the skull might look cool on mi desk but i don't know how to get ride of the rotten skin and flesh.

Any ideas?

After 3 weeks it looks the same so it might take a while to disintegrate by itself.

I have other skulls of a dog and some birds but I found them kinda "clean" so I don't know what to do with this one.

there are plenty of guides online. Jake's Bones is one written by a 10 year old kid if you want the simple answers.
>>
>>1185373
Usually cleaning skulls involves boiling the skulls in a degreaser/water mix. This might be a problem for you though because it's going to stink to high hell if you throw a rotting corpse into boiling water.

You can use this guys method, obviously skipping the mounting parts. He's using deer skulls, but it's pretty much the same thing no matter what you use.

i have experience, although over 5 years ago.
put it in a tub !!!not an aluminium one!!! with plenty water to fully submerge and add a generous amount of drain cleaner (make shure atleast 90% Sodium hydroxide). How long it takes varies quite a bit so check every 10-15 minutes at first and then decide how much time you will wait for the checks after that.

biggest downsides are the horrible smell and that the bones will dissolve if left in for to long (bones take much longer than the soft tissue tho) so check regularly and good luck whith the smells

Moving into a new apartment and it comes with a wood floor. I've never had one before but looking at it, it's clear the previous tenant didn't take care of it at all. Like, at all! It's faded and greyed and scratched up. Not my pic but it looks a lot like this in places.

How do I A) make it look not like shit again, and B) keep it that way?

Is it real wood panels or is it fake/cheap wood?
>>
>>1185183
Looked real but very old.
>>
If it's real you could just sand it down smooth and put some new varnish on. Good as new. Make sure it's real, and identify the type of wood so you get a nice colour varnish.

>housemate left behind a stereo system
>only thing wrong with it is one of the speaker's banana plugs had its tip broken off
>subwoofer has red/white inputs, a red output to one speaker, and a white output to the other speaker

Can I just cut off the broken banana plug then set the new end in a new banana plug? I've never had a reason to solder before but I don't think it's necessary here. I've got plenty of speaker wire but don't have any plugs or a soldering kit.

There was a thread on /o/ about different uses for our used motor oil, and I've never really thought about how versatile this stuff could be.

I use a gravity filter with cotton rope medium to clean used oil. Does about a gallon a month using no power or input from me.
>>
>>1182954
Oil breaks down on a molecular level reducing its ability to properly lubricate and cool your engines. Reusing filtered oil may not be a very good idea, but having it for emergencies, like needing to top off your reserves because of a sudden serious engine problem while on vacation may save the day.

Is there a way to amplify 0.9-1.7 volts into 5 volts or more without any ICs? I've this circuit but I have no idea what value L1 is.

>>
>>1180686
its not critical, try random inductors ranging from 10uH to 680uH
>>
>>1180686
You can try with different inductors and frequencies, but without any IC controlling the process the output can vary wildly depending on the load, possibly damaging whatever it is connected to, like a microcontroller or a phone (I assume you want 5 volts to power something?)

Yes an arduino Uno, I've been searching for a week now. Here's a summary of the project, basically a small fan that turns when someone sucks from a tube, I know I can do that with a dc motor, but I can't seem to get more than 1.7 volts out of it, and there aren't any DC motors here except this, which you can find in a typical 12 volts drill. So I searched for a Dc-Dc booster and there are some but non e available here, then I searched for diy circuits and found some like the one above, but the rest need ICs like MAX756 and it doesn't exist here either, any other ideas? Is there an alternative way to get 5 v with suction?

My neighbor's tree is a menace to my property and it's only growing. Is it okay if I spray glyphosate on the part overhanging onto my property to slowly kill it or atleast put a damper on its vigor?

How should I deal with this? I'm not on speaking terms with the neighbor.

>>
Climb the tree and put in a lightning rod.
>>
Talk to you neighbor like a man, tell him his tree is encroaching on your property and demand he cut off the violating limbs.
If that fails contact the city and file a complaint and wait for a response.
If that also fails just hire a mexican from home depot to do it for 100 bucks.

How the fuck do I siphon water to a higher elevation? There has to be away to do it without electricity or a pump.

You can't siphon it, kinda violates the laws of the universe, but there are pump designs out there to use some of the gravitational potential energy of the water to pump a smaller volume of water up over the original location of the body of water, you just need to have water at a lower elevation than where you want it, but still higher than another location where you can dump the water

It might be hard to see but there's a slight dip/depression in the roof over here
Is this normal?
Is it something I should be worried about?
Is there a name for this phenomenon? I can't even find anything on google.

yes it's called your roof is falling in. probably because the joists are rotted next to that tarp you have to the right
>>
>>1186082

how did the joist get rotted?
also it's not next to the tarp
as in the depressed area is completely unaffected, and unrelated, to the tarped area

Is that spot over a bathroom maybe.
Houses used to commonly have their bathroom vents just go to the attic.

Could also be insect damage.

Let's say a person is in an apartment building with 6 units -- up in the left corner (A)

(A) has 4 windows, all of them open a crack (10cm)

If person in (A) smokes a joint and blows through the corner window, how likely is it that the smoke is moving into the windows of the other units?

My idea is that: warm air rises, right? so barring really goofy winds, the smoke should go only upwards, and with the other 3 windows in A open, any smoke that would have escaped into the unit next to (A) would be gone by then?

P.S. eating is not a solution, it gets me high in an uncomfortable way...smoking is what works for me

it will one thousand percent be detectable by smell around the block

smell and smoke doesnt only go where the wind is blowing, or only up, it goes all over the place

so to answer your question: it will definitely DEFINITELY, 100%, no doubt, surely, absolutely, be getting to the next unit

Holy shit. I have never seen so much terrible advice in one video.

>The wires don't really fit, so I'll just cut off the extras.
>I'll just leave the neutral tucked away like this.
>It's ok because the neutral and the ground are the same.
>Adapter to plug a plug into a plug

And before you eurocucks throw a fit, this is not normal at all.

I saw some video where some Russian guy bought some Chinese smart home device, and he wanted to use it in whatever sockets are used in Russia. So what he did was he cut down the prongs, sanded them, 3d printed some shit so that it would fit in the socket properly, and then he soldered some shit onto the original prongs and stuck that 3d printed piece over it. I wish I could find the video.
