DUCK! KICK! PUNCH!What do you think of the remaster?
I like it, but it still feels finicky to play. Looks great ingame, cutscenes are identical which is disappointing but not surprising. Nice to have 1 and 2 on PS4 now.
I would love a new Lammy though. Damn.

I've played through Earthbound and Chrono Trigger and I loved them, is Mario RPG next best rpg on snes? Is it better than Earthbound or Chrono Trigger? Let me know niggaz
None of those even play the same.
>>3904812
This game isn't really comparable to those desu, outside of "is an RPG", but I would say that the game has more to it than Earthbound, but the story in Chrono Trigger combined with decent mechanics probably puts it a bit ahead of SMRPG, however SMRPG has the best combat system of them all by far.
>>3904819
yeah I know, just talking about classic snes rpgs
I want to buy a pre-5th gen system since my collection only contains n64, dreamcast, and psx games. which one is a relatively cheap system right now that has a good library?
I'm interested in the tg16 but I don't know much about it. some suggestions would be great
>>3904776
>TG-16
That'll put a dent in your wallet.
Atari 2600 if you wanna do it on the REAL cheap.
Depends on what kind of games or what companies you like. PC Engine is probably a better investment than TG-16, has a bigger library and the games tend to be cheaper, but not inexpensive, especially if you have to have your games complete. Honestly NES is still a decent choice because the majority of the games are still relatively cheap if you're not going for the super in-demand titles.
The only good Megaman game.

This doesn't even count as bait.
So you never played X, X2 and X3.

Pick one OP.
Does anyone actually play retro games on a fullscreen LCD TV? How does it look in contrast to playing on a CRT TV set? Do the games scale properly, or do they have black bars like on modern widescreen LCDs?
>>3904613
What exactly is a "fullscreen LCD TV"?
>>3904639
I assume they mean a display with a 4:3 aspect ratio. I used to play Dreamcast games on an old one but it's toast.
>>3904639
From OP's picture i'd assume he maybe means 4:3 TFT displays?
How the fuck are you supposed to pronounce it?

Hello, I've been researching about the best CRT TV to play Retro games.
I've found that the Sony KV-36FV310 is the best one, but this TV is capable of fix the bloom effect, specially in white colors, which in turn is bad for retro games, because they rely on TV's artifacts to create some graphics effects. And bloom is one of them.
So I've found that the Sony KV-36FV300 is the second best CRT ever made, it has bloom and some of the old artifacts.
But soon I've found that there are some great differences between Shadow Mask and Apperture Grille.
All Sony TVs use Apperture Grille, most of the others use Shadow Mask.
I couldn't find anything that could lead to a conclusion, as far as I know, the Shadow Mask blends the image better, and the Apperture Grille has better, vivid colors and some scanlines.
So, anyone can make this clear to me?
You've got the major differences down. It's mostly a matter of personal preference, there's no objective best.
>>3904285
The type of bloom which the 310's high voltage regulator fixes has nothing to do with any supposed tricks used by game developers.
It just means the overall image raster grows and shrinks dependent on the brightness level.
Aperture grille basically makes for squarer pixels
Games that were too hard as a kid, then you came back to them years later and they were STILL FUCKING HARDwhat's her name /vr/? ever beat it?
>>3904162
Little Nemo: The Dream Master.
Could not beat that train stage as a kid, but about a year ago I sat down with it and pushed through the entire game, but it was definitely still hard as fuck. Pic related.
>>3904162
How does this make any sense? If anything kids have more time to spare, and have more dedication, learn faster and have quicker reflexes.
You don't get better at games just because you're older.
I hate how society treats kids like retards. It's exactly when you think that way that you prevent them from reaching their true potential.
>>3904175
I think practice is a key element. I got better at gaming over time the same way I got better at playing guitar over time. Plus, retro games are the first games I ever played growing up, so I was a noob at everything for a while
I don't play any longer and thread has been dying forever apparently edition

Tibia is a top down mmorpg from 1997. It was very popular in the early 2000s, and it still has a substantial amount of players.
It has a huge world which the player can explore and has a lot to do in terms of hunting and quests.
Currently we are on the world secura, a non pvp server. The official guild is yotsubas, and to apply you write your name here and we'll invite you. New players will get help with gear and on what to do, and help with hunting.
Latest news:
Cip is currently working on implementing Battleye into the client to combat the widespread botting problem

That PlayStation looks like shit, or your camera just isn't very good quality. If I understand the conversion between pounds and USD correctly, you paid between $6 - $12 for that. If it's at least functional, then I suppose it's not a bad deal. But I'd be wary of picking up an early model, as those had faulty optical assemblies that overheated.

What?
Is this the place where we pretend SOTN wasn't the best Castlevania?
>piss easy
>"best" Castlevania
Okay

Best is subjective depending on what an individual enjoys and wants out of a game. This is supposed to be a board for 18+ where people would understand that. Often doesn't seem to be the case though.

What are some classic games with environmental themes? Ecco the Dolphin is based around environmental themes, but there must be others games out there as well. Anything from pollution to global warming to full on nuclear environmental destruction is welcome. Really any games about the ways humans are fucking over the earth.

Eco Fighters.
Final Fantasy VII is the daddy of this.

On the subject of environmentalism itself, has anyone noticed how it's stopped being proactive and became reactive? I remember big deals being made out of things like running water and food miles, but while those still are mentioned, the far worse contributor of tech-miles (the carbon foot print of various consumer electronics) has never been mentioned?

Why are shmups so popular?
Very challenging, so they generally provide good amounts of playtime for the price without resorting to never-ending dialogue, cutscenes, and attack animations like RPGs did.
bullet hell games are kind of hypnotic
when i play Mushihimesama i get entranced and feel cathartic when all those golden coin whatsits go flying into my player
Because they provide near-constant, pure, fully engaged gameplay, which enables the player to enter the psychological state known as flow.
