Is it just me? Is there something I'm missing? To me all the bomberman games are boring as hell. It's the definition of repetitive gameplay.
I mean, I kinda enjoyed Bomberman 64, but that may be the rose colored glasses.
> "Get friends and play multi-player."
We did back in the day on the 64. But even with 4 of us it was ridiculously boring.
What am I missing?
>>3898438
It's one of those games you enjoy in short bursts.
>>3898438
Have you tried Hero? It basically plays nothing like any other Bomberman game aside from the premise of using bombs to kill shit.
It is enjoyable when you play with friends
Maybe you should have some of the later to have the first one, eh?
got this haul today for $32. how did i do, /vr/?
>>3898234

>>3898234
Is this what /vr/ has come to? A few beat up old cart at ebay reseller prices is a haul? Why even post? You could have checked ebay sold listings and see that you paid exactly what dozens of others have paid.
tl;dr you did exactly like every other eBayby
FFA is nice to see the origin of the Mana series, and because they reused the redmage overworld sprite.
FFL1 is kinda detached, but has nice sound.
FFL2 has a much better story theme that worked well.
$10 for used original carts, hope their bats work...
What is your favorite sound test in a /vr/ game?

Myst Masterpiece edition, Real Myst or Real Myst Masterpiece edition?
>>3897828
Real Myst Masterpiece is the best.
Masterpiece is the way to tickle your nostalgia.Actual answer is to play the other games and just leave 1 to your memory since it's very dated even just compared to riven.
>>3897828
How do you get into Myst? I remember trying it years ago but got turned off by the 9000 pages of shit you had to read and all the diagrams and star chats you had to draw or memorize
>>3898053
That is a big part of the appeal, you're doing literal detective work anon, if you can't enjoy it then the meat of the game is not going to appeal to you.
Back in the day the GRAFIX were so impressive that people played it even if they disliked those things, but that appeal is no longer present.
I have casually played Sonic since the Genesis era but have never focused enough on the 16-but games to complete one. What Sonic game should I work towards completing and what tips do you have for acquiring and using chaos emeralds? I know they trigger super sonic in some games but am not familiar enough fully understand. I have Sonic 1-3 and Sonic & Knuckes but don't really know the best option, any help to this Sonic noob would be greatly appreciated!
They aren't even long games. Play whatever you want, there are no tips. It's fucking sonic.
>>3897562
Sonic is considered hard nowadays don't you know?
Emeralds are worthless in 1, the ending barely changes and there's no super sonic
Special stages are annoying to trigger and even more annoying to complete in 2
3 is the game where special stages are fun to find and complete, with a good difficulty curve and a satisfying true ending
CD is neat because there are two different methods to get the true ending and both are pretty fun, but there's no super sonic
What the fuck WAS his problem?
He was poorly drawn and his chin was crooked?

He did literally nothing wrong, don't push your Duraifag agenda around here man

He wanted the same respect for the same amount of work, regardless of his standing in society.
Give me your best RPG that requires mapping paper

Okay.
What are some tricks or coding/programming magic developers of old used and created to do the things they wanted to do but couldn't because of system limitations? What kind of things they did to get around them so that they could portray their vision on their works?
More like competition forces you to implement tedious solutions to meet market demands.
There are no examples of legitimate "console hacks". Everything you've ever seen was functionality intentionally designed into the hardware.
CG cinematics were used because they couldn't do in engine cutscenes that conveyed the same information
>>3897387
>There are no examples of legitimate "console hacks". Everything you've ever seen was functionality intentionally designed into the hardware.
You can use hardware features in a way they weren't intended to do, or in a way the designers never imagined it to be used, to make effects that push the console beyond its limits.
Like, the Commodore 64 was never designed to be able to use high resolution multi-coloured sprites, but games ended up doing that anyway - by overlaying a low-res colour sprite with a high res outline one.
Or the Megadrive running Mario Kart graphics by using sram on the cart.
I can not start the mods of doom users. I get this screen. I drag the file .wad sull'exe of doom, but I can not start it. While the basic versions are. What's the problem?
Is there some reason you can't post this in the doom thread?

>>3897171
Sure is; motherfucker has powers that literally extend outside the game world.

This board is too elitist to have any fun with other boards apparently. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
only April Fools jokes released in 1999 or before allowed

What a waste.
This is a news general to keep us all up to date on the latest happenings and news in the world of retro video games.
Example of news to submit:
* new vr related hardware being developed.
* lost/unreleased game found or uploaded.
* new translation of a sought after game.
* emu dev calls it quits.
* whatever you want as long as its /vr/ related.

What's the point of this why are you trying to condense the content of the entire board into a single thread?
>>3896715
Next time OP, Show some highlights of recent news and news that got posted in the previous thread.

I already rekt you last time.

Having a consolidated list of news is good for people that miss a thread on current events. Threads are not infinite lasting and get deleted daily or by mods hands.
I wonder if someone will ever find an existing copy of Ura Zelda. How likely are the chances of it happening?
Almost none. Nintendo probably doesn't even have a copy anymore.
Very small.
How many Nintendo beta stuff has actually made it outside of Ninty's HQ? Star Fox 2, and that's probably because of someone from Argonaut.
But they do keep them somewhere, in 2006, an american guy (the only one in the dev team) for Mother 3 got to play the N64 Mother 3 proto, I assume they must also keep stuff like Ura Zelda. You'd probably need ninjas if you want to see them.
Not very considering that it doesn't exist. The myth about Ura Zelda has been peddled for 20 years by a small group of truthers that now make tcrf their hub. Literally everything points to it not existing. Developer quotes, junk data, the Debug ROM, Iwata Asks with Grezzo.
"B-b-but look! This guy's clothes changes color if you trick the ROM into thinking it's connected to a 64DD!"
The lengths that some people will go to to protect their narrative is absurd.
