what are the best games with 80s anime artstyle?
>>
rainbow cotton
>>
>>3903434
What made 80s anime special? How was it different from 90s anime?
>>
You mean games based on 80s anime?
>>
>>3903454
i dunno, it's just different.
>>3903456
no but why not if it's good
>>
>>3903464
Then what do you mean with "80s anime artstyle" if not art from 80s anime?
>>
>>3903469
I think he means games from the 80s that used the kind of artstyle that was common that the time, not games of 80s anime.
>>
>>3903472
So just 80s games.
>>
OP needs to discover the PC-98
>>
>>3903478
PC-98 had great touhou games before the franchise became a meme
>>
>>3903454
Good designs, shading
>>
>>3903489
Popularity does not make something a meme.
>>
>>3903519
Touhou fandom both east and west is primarily meme driven, though, so he's not really wrong.

Yeah, it's all memes.
>>
>>3903758
What memes did I post?
>>
>>3903475
Some 90s stuff still used styles from the 80s.
>>
>>3903454
Sci-fi and experimental fad, high budget because fuck you they had the yen
>>
Xenogears has that late 80's aesthetic.

Doesn't change the fact that probably well over half of the western fans may never played any of the games (maybe with the exception of those recent PS4 fangames) probably account for most of its shit-posting [source: my ass].
>>
>>3904908
>1991

So? OP asked for 80s art style, not games strictly released in the 80s. MSG feels like the 80s.

Do you think disco music ended exactly on December 31, 1979?
>>
>>3904834
Well that fucking ruled.
>>
>>3904834
You recommend PC-8801 Valis, but then post a video of the wrong game on the wrong system. You have failed us.

>>
Yu-No is a pretty decent 90s style porn game from japan and good translated. Is there another of this kind? translated because i badly speak english you imagine moonspeak.
>>
>>3904834
Is there any Valis game worth playing?
>>
Snatcher for pc-engine is pretty great too. too bad there's no translation.
>>
>>3905057
Valis 1 on the pc88 is a gigantic pain in the ass.
Valis 2 is much better, but the old 8-bit computers are janky.

Best option is to play the PC Engine CD versions.
>>
>>3903454
Nostalgia.
>>
>>3905054
Eve Burst Error is by the same writer and translated

He also did DESIRE but I don't think it has been translated yet
>>
>>3904834
It's pretty tough, but I do feel like the PC88 version is the best version to play
>>
>>3905056
>better music for one thing. larger budgets and more detailed animation

mind that those were mostly OVAs
regular shows were still hot steaming turds until evangelion happened
>>
>>3905212
>>3905214
can you go back to /tv/? thanks in advance
>>
>>3905205
>Evangelion
>larger budget
>more detailed animation

Either you're not very familiar with older anime or you don't remember what Evangelion actually looked like outside of its action scenes.

Spoiler: It was fucking talking heads galore.

I guarantee you have not played PC-8801 Valis from beginning to end. I know this because I have, and it still traumatizes me.

It's not "pretty tough", it's torture. It's not Gradius III hard, it's Takeshi's Challenge hard. It is the Battle of Verdun in video game form.
>>
>>3905065
This, also the PC-Engine versions had good music

Wrong. Giant Gorg, AT VOTOMS, Xabungle, I could keep naming stuff, but the point is that there were tons of great series in the 80s.

Shading.
>>
>>3905267
Actually you're right. I'm thinking of the X1 version. I actually finished that one and I consider myself pretty bad at games.

The PC88 one is torture.
>>
>>3904887
I was so amazed the first time I saw that game in action. Switching from SMB and Bomberman to something that looked so close to the tv show blew my mind then. The music was great too. Damn I played it so fucking much.

DESIRE was sold in English by Himeya
>>
>>3909838
Whoever translated Eve and Desire had a shaky grasp of both Japanese and English. Don't waste your time. Those games deserve better.
>>
>>3909843
didn't stop me from enjoying them very much.
eve is one of my favorite games.
