Interested, do you guys care about needing to play games "as they were"? It seems more often today people make romhacks and such of already translated games but with fixed scripts or unaltered sprites. Interested how much you guys care about this stuff.

>Interested, do you guys care about needing to play games "as they were"?
Yes. There's no logic to censorship. If the content was suitable for Japanese children, then I see no reason to change it before it reaches the States. (or Europe)
>romhacks
The ROM-hacking scene is shit. I just play imports with a rudimentary understanding of Japanese. I don't see any point in chopping up a game script and inserting some half-baked translation that has to make too many compromises due to space constraints. Worse, I don't want to play an "accurate" re-translation that gets riddled with Woolsey-isms.

>do you guys care about needing to play games "as they were"?
Yeah, I'm not a fan of remakes. In my eyes if you're playing a game that's been significantly altered, you can't say that you've played the game at all.
>romhacks
I'll sometimes play hacks of games that I'm a fan of. Nothing wrong with having new content to play, even if it's not always (or often) of high quality. I also like translation hacks just fine, as long as they don't mess with how the game plays. Retranslations don't bother me, though I don't think making them is time well spent I'd still play them over a poorer official translation.

So you're telling me if someone was to play a super mario bros romhack where the only difference is that mario is now blue they haven't actually played the game?
I don't make it a habit to fight the elderly.

Well, at least it's not DOA
Everyone seems to whine about King's (MM&B) and Gate's (MMX6) fortress stages, so who's the harder among those two?
gates isn't hard its just tedious and actually broken which makes it only possible to complete with a specific set of armor as X or you must use exploits to get past a very specific gap.
>>3898619
Specific armor or a specific chip setup. If I remember correctly, it is entirely possible to jump the gap as no-chip unarmored X, but you have to dash jump at the literal last pixel before the pit's death zone, and then frame-perfectly jump to avoid sliding into it on the other side.

you can use a technique with blaze heatnix's weapon to get by more easily but it's still a retarded moment of design
Fatal Fury Fans here?

>Fav. Game? Fav. Character?
Special. Jubei.
>How do I reach 1,000,000 Points in Real Bout Special ?
Is there a way? I can only think keep playing against a 2nd player in arcade mode until you reach that number, I guess.
>>3898713
Tried that method. 2nd Player beating doesn't award any points...
Does anyone knows a good Neo Geo or mame emulator for Android? I'm looking for a premium apk like I did with the ps1, snes and nes

I got this new third party n64 controller but the control stick is super sensitive and the spring is super strong. Is there any way to tweak these things to work better.
Those things are awful I'm sorry anon : ( If I were you I would sell it/trade it somewhere for a 1st party controller
>>3898092
I had 4 nintendo controllers with good joysticks but someone stole 2 from me
What about the ebay replacement joysticks? They probably suck ass huh?
I don't like that weird hand feeling around near me.
That was scary the first time it happens
My little brother was 4 and we would let him play this until one day he discovered this an was super scared and my dad got pissed.
None of us had ever seen it before. Good times

The permasave feature was bad enough, but it's pretty sad how the 3DS remake completely sucked the life and atmosphere clean out of the game by literally giving you a list of where to be at what time to get the quests done.
Does /vr/ use private trackers? I mostly use them when I need to find some obscure ROM. The forums sometimes have translation projects up, but you might as well use GBATemp or ROMHacking for translation projects.
Yeah, I'm on the tracker that replaced UG when it got shut down. I think the original staff made this one, or some of them at least.
I use PleasureDome, which isn't really private. I've given trying to get into RW.
>>3897512
I'd invite you to RW if I could. I have like 10 invites.

I realized the other day while doing my first evil run in bg1 that there is a way to help thieves beat sarevok or whoever if they really want to do it themselves
At the fair in nashkel, you can get the red and violet potions that raise str to 25 and dex/con to 3, and Int to 25 and wis/cha to 3. Use the strength one on your thief, then use a potions of agility and endurance, and a potion of mind focusing: str 25, dex 24, con 21, for some real bonuses to stealth skills and a ginormous backstab (x4, with say varscona for 4d8+64)
could just use draw upon holy might for backstabs in general
If we can manage to have less 100+ post arguments about 3rd edition D&D class balance this time around, that'd be sweet.
>>3891493
Because it looks realistic and it's cheap? Unless you get threatened with a lawsuit like they did with NWN.
>>3891504
I wonder if it was even intended that you could use other stat setting potions to overwrite the stat penalties from "cursed" ones.
Best comic book game?
You mean games based OFF of comic books?
Teenage mutant ninja turtles arcade games
And I'm not sure if it's really that good but Scud's game on the Saturn.

is CZ really considered that difficult? I've been toying with the idea of streaming a run because I always blitz through it and only really slow down on page 3-3 but it's not really that hard of a game.
>>3889962
>is CZ really considered that difficult?
No, it's piss easy, but people playing it today can't figure out a game if it doesn't give you checkpoints every 5 minutes and regenerating health.
Sup /vr/? Ps1 finally arrived, cant play it yet though because I have to wait for the hdmi upscaler box to use it on my tv.
Either way this thing is fucking mint and I can't wait to play all my old games on it again
What are some games I should pick up for it? I already have the following
>road rash
>road rash 3D
>resident evil
>lemmings
>castlevania symphony of the night
>duke nukem: total meltdown
>gran turismo 2
>danger girl
>Rayman rush
>wwf war zone
>FF VII
>crash bandicoot 2
>crash bandicoot warped
>die hard trilogy
>metal gear solid

Nope, and I have no desire to play ps2 or PS3 games.
I'd rather play it on original hardware too. Haven't had PlayStation since the first one back in the day.
>>3887525
PS3 upscaling is not that great (probably better than "box" OP is getting though) and PS1 game region has to match region of the PS3 (unless PS3 has CFW).

I love the Richter Story arc the best.
fuckin' Love Richter, Rondo of Blood, Symphony of the Night
good games
and Dracula X somewhere in there I guess
Rondo's probably my favorite, but X68K is the shit for sure.
Why is the 16-bit era castlevanias that cause the most shitposting of all? is it because the diversity of systems, thus forcing console wars into the equation?
what did she mean by this?
