Does WoTL have any quality of life improvements? It's the only way I'll play it because the ye ole English is vomit.

Female characters can get Move+3....
>>
Not really, the biggest reason to check it out is for the retranslation. Pretty much every addition is minor shit like extra story battles, extra jobs, or cutscenes.

>the ye ole English is vomit.

but the dialogue is really well written.

>he calls himself a retro gamer
>he doesn't play games on an oscilloscope

Seriously?

I had to make a Pong rip-off in C for an arm chip connected to an oscilloscope for a first year assignment at university

That sounds pretty rad. How'd it turn out?

He downloaded the source connected a few wires to his memeberry and it worked just like the instructables page said it would. kek.

Hey guys, dumb question but Google isn't helping: can you use a Japanese Sega cd with an American Genesis?

Bump. I would like to know too. SegaCDs are so expensive now.
>>
>>4120870
region locked but should still work. you could just play japanese games on it if you know moon.
>>
It won't work unless you are using a flashcart with region-free bios support. Sega CD bios detects the console region and refuses to even boot the game if console region do not match bios region.

Here's something I am starting to see around the internet. To anyone who has played the Sega Master System before, help me out here.

Although people complain about older games in general being hard, a common game I see hated on is Alex Kidd in Miracle World.
What is so difficult about that game? Okay, sure it has it's hard points. Most commonly the screen in the final castle with spikes everywhere. But, its still beatable. Very beatable.
People call this game horrible because of it's "extremely hard difficulty" and "for being unforgiving."
I watched James and Mike (mostly Mike) play this game. They were ratting on the game for being hard and not telling you on screen what to do, which explains that exactly in the manual. Also they didn't like it because of so.
What's with this nonsense? These people haven't played a difficult video game until they have played Fantasy Zone.

Most people don't even know you can equip a ring in Alex Kidd to give you an infinite projectile attack. People are just silly, OP.
>>
>>4121112
Wait, really?
>>

>>4121112
Then they'll have a hack of a time trying the solve the puzzle at the end of the game.

Why are LJN such assholes? This game is a nightmare, even now

Also tangential question, is using retr0brite worth it? Don't want to risk messing up my DMG with hydrogen peroxide desu

this game is "okay". Terrible control but i like it.

But the DS version is the best version, and actually has a modicum of challenge, nerd.

Wonder if I should play the FF3 NES or one of the remakes on DS and PSP

DS version is too slow. It's a fun challenge, but I'd only play it after you've played some other version first.

I'm a pretty big fan of the UK series, here's my thoughts on each of the games:
Original- probably the definitive version, as they added a practice mode and rankings. Doesn't have any of the slowdown or loading times from the SFC game.
Shun- Doesn't have any extra content from any of the rereleases (so no between-stage art or extras from the DS port) but it does have the added fields from those ports. Also, the song it plays when you beat it doesn't have vocals for some reason. Good if you can't find the DS version at a good price, otherwise pick up that one.
Sayonara- It's got all the added content (around 10 levels) from the Vita port, except it doesn't require you to own a Vita. Highly recommended.

X4 implies Zero was a creation of Dr. Wily, and killed everyone.

MM9 introduces the concept of limited lifespan for Robots. Implication is that the original cast dies.
MM10 introduces Robo-flu, which may be the origin of the Maverick virus.

Ive been looking for a CRT for over a year and just havent been able to find one, they have long been tossed away.

I found pic related for $10, its a 480p LCD which i assume is one of the very fist since it isnt widescreen.

It has a SCART input, will this be good enough for older consoles? I currently use a 43" LED TV and the picture is ass.

How the fuck can't you find a damn CRT, come back and try harder
Hell if you ask really nicely you can even pick one up at a recycling centre.
>>
>>4119965
Nope.

My country gave everyone $900 in 2007, most people threw out their old tv then and bought flat screens.

Ive been scouring ebay, gumtree, craigslist and facebook groups but none have came up.

On ebay the only ones that do pop up are hundreds of kilometers away and the people wont ship them.
>>
>>4119972
What country is this
Also have you really tried going to the recycling centre?

Has anyone ever bought bootleg Famicom cartridges off Aliexpress and had them either burn themselves up, or fry your console?

I was just reading this, which suggests they're seriously dangerous:
https://db-electronics.ca/2017/07/05/the-dangers-of-3-3v-flash-in-retro-consoles/

Should we just completely avoid buying these things?

I absolutely had the 400-in-1 burn itself up when I left Recca running overnight I can personally confirm.
>>
I'm honestly shocked at this. Not so much for the Chinese carts, but definitely for the EDs. I'm sure people are going to come out of the woodwork but I've accidentally killed components more than once in my own hobby projects by giving a voltage too high. It's one thing for a hobby project, it's quite different for a product sold at such a premium price.
