Mother 3
What's the best way to play this?
With a mouse on a computer.

Ye, but it shuts without an apparent reason and the campaign goes full flash.
is it me or the 2010 smoething version fixed the sanic speed worldmap just a little to be playable?
Hey, I recently got the urge to finally try the N64 Zelda games.
I want to start with Majora's Mask but I have heard that it's a direct sequel to Ocarina Of Time.
So should I start with OoT instead?
>>4131389
Majora's Mask used a lot of textures from Ocarina of Time because it was made in a short time frame (less than a year compared to OoT that was in development for almost 5 years) and gameplay wise it uses the same basic controls but story wise you won't exactly miss out on it. There's very little that's referred directly and a lot of people even prefer MM because of the sidequests and the characters, although OoT might be more interesting to start with if you never played a 3D Zelda before.
I think they're both amazing and both are worth checking out but again, it's not like you have to play OoT to understand MM but it's not as terrible as some contrarians/hipsters make it sound like. I'd say, look up some gameplay footage and see for yourself.
PS Go for the 3DS versions, they run on a higher framerate and got some other small fixes that can make your first playthrough a lot less annoying.
>>4131389
The stories have almost nothing to do with each other so play whichever you like first.
Ocarina of Time happened, Link returned the Master Sword to its pedestal so he returned to being a kid. Then he and his horse fucked off into the wilderness and that's when Majora's Mask starts. There, you're caught up on OoT's story.
Fuck this piece of shit. The DOS "drivers" just refuse to function
>>4130470
I never had any luck getting dos drivers to work with my audigy either. It worked fine after switching to an aureal vortex 2 though.
>>4130470
Now you know why people stick to period hardware. Or just emulate instead of having 5 pc boxes.
>>4130482
The vortex dos drivers dont require NMI like the creative's do so they work in any system with a PCI slot.
Umihara Kawase's boyfriend broke up with her...
But it's okay, there's still plenty of fish in the sea.

What did one boob say to the other boob? You're my breast friend.
Where does the princess of Hyrule's stocking go?On the Leg-end of Zelda.
>>4130460
I was really hoping this would be an Umihara Kawase thread.
Why did the cab kill its self?Because it knew it was going to be mamed.
Which games are actually better to play the European or Japanese releases, or at least have significant changes? I'm talking about games like Guerilla War or Probotector that have interesting different sprites, Fighting Vipers which has extra characters and costumes, and Castlevania Bloodlines which has less censorship.
All games made in japan are better played in japanese.
>>4129408
>Which games are actually better to play the European or Japanese releases, or at least have significant changes?
I'm gonna wait for someone to mention THAT game where they cut the whole story, every character, and replaced it with some slides as a stand in for a """story"""
>>4129409
Except for games that require a lot of reading in Japanese.
This full-length film created by Kinaman also became an object of wild nostalgia of the Russian gamers-oldfagov. The story is carried about those times when collective farms collapsed, any cattle climbed in the power, and Moscow didn't go to pieces. Then a certain Steepler company arrived to one of the Chinese cellars, transferred racial Japanese Famicom to yellow hands and told: "I want same, but with nacreous buttons!".
P.S: English is welcomed
>>4129348
>nacreous buttons
What did he mean by this? Did the cattle climbed in the power?
I do enjoy the soviet collapse from the perspective of someone who feels sort of like my contemporary and would-be peer but I'm dubious of something full-length. Perhaps it'll be interesting.

Learn English, Ivan
I remember watching a couple of his dendy memories that got english subtitles
Its been a while, I dont know what else got subbed

I don't know why I found it so funny that a cat thing was named Myau.
>>4129203
I wonder how they decided on the names.
The changed Tyrone to Odin, possible because its too long and renamed Lutz to Noah for whatever reason.
But Myau for a cat-thing was perfect.
>>4129009
This is correct. Though the only thing I really dislike about 3 is how shit the main battle theme is.
I had a blast playing 1 and mapping out all the dungeons with graph paper.
Have you finished the best Tansakuvania yet?
I heard they're working on a Mark III port.
tl note 探索 means search
Sup australia, I see you liked my tansakuvania terminology.
>Mark III
I don't know, I'd prefer if they ported it to the John VIII know what a Mark III is, you autist, it's a joke, get it?
>pressing up to jump
As if the platforming in classic Castlevania wasn't already awkward enough
>Kill frodo
>smoke pipe
>kill Frodo
Frodo is dead, game over.

Let me see if I've got this straight;
There were certain SNES games for which the developer put in some extra effort to 'optimise' their game for the PAL region, so that it wasn't simply a slower NTSC version.
Does this mean if a game was PAL optimised, it was equally as good as an NTSC version?
Is there more input lag at 50Hz compared to 60Hz, or is that unrelated?
Is there any kind of comprehensive list of which games were/weren't optimised?
I don't know how SNES, for PS1 games onwards, even if the game's speed is "optimized", the framerate is still worse.
Also in some cases there can be some timing differences on some things even if the game is optimized.
>Is there any kind of comprehensive list of which games were/weren't optimised?
Sadly not. But for a start, any game MADE by devs from PAL countries (Europe, Australia) are designed for 50hz.
Fun fact: SMB1 on NES, the PAL version runs about 10% faster than the NTSC versions.and is 50% more fun because of it

lol man
Anyone try out shaders on those newer DOSBOX forks? I don't have the space for an actual CRT, so it's my best solution for now.
Also, recommend me your favourite DOS game I guess.

Thexder
Firehawk: Thexder the Second Encounter
Zeliard
M1 Tank Platoon
F-15 Strike Eagle 2
Silpheed
Covert Action
Sword of the Samurai
Quest for Glory 1
>>4126948
>I don't have the space for an actual CRT
I don't understand this excuse.
>>4127512
Me neither, especially if we're talking about a monitor.
It's honestly surprising how most platformers that followed didn't adopt mischief's control scheme
>>4126648
mischief makers has awful controls
the shitty n64 controller doesnt help
>>4126648
The C arrows are a clutch for beginners who can't into double tapping. Its top speed is even crippled compared to double tapping.
>>4126652
the n64 dpad is trash. should have been a saturn game.
Holy shit this stuff was worth every penny. Games have all become a charm to play and without the sore thumb. Best 100$ spent on retro.
>>4125742
>Best 100$ spent on retro.
>100$
This is a 18+ board.
I hear they are good, but I'm concerned about the dead zones on the stick, for playing games like Starfox or Sin and Punishment for example.

Maybe he's not a native speaker.
Getting into retro gaming, what are the advantages of playing on the console vs playing on another emulator ?
>>4125162
let me rephrase your question for more productive discussion:
"what are the tradeoffs between emulators and consoles?"
>>4125162
emulators:
+ cheap
+ portable
+ compact
+ no need for extra stuff in your life, you can use your laptop if you want to
+ every fucking game you want
- input lag
- doesn't look as good
consoles:
+ no input lag
+ if you play em on a crt you get the best visual quality
+ looks cool in your living room
- expensive
- it's stuff
- need to buy (expensive) games
- not portable
>>4125162
Seeing as youre seriously asking this I'd recommend just going with an emulator
