Are there any good /vr/ economic simulators?
Capitalism Plus. I heard they even used this for learning purposes in Harvard and Stanford business schools somewhere in the 90s.

Crisis in the Kremlin. Tough as shit if you don't play as a moderate.
Not an economic simulator as such but you should try Shadow President for a great cold war presidential sim.

>global free trade is the strongest force in the universe
>america's massive dick is the only thing keeping to world from falling to shit
ultimate neocon neoliberal deepstate simulator, I love it
wish you could play as other countries though, playing as USA is total easymode and it's all you got

The Geo-Political Simulator series would probably be more up your street, but not retro.

Cool game but it's biased against hardline commie policy, even if you have great working conditions, health, education etc. The Kruschevite scum always fucks you over.

There plenty german ones. Games like Patrician, 1869, Hanse, Kaiser, Transworld, Black Gold, Winzer (vintner), Inve$t, Oil Imperium, Steigenberger Hotelmanager, Zeppelin: Giants of the Sky, etc.
Or other games like Spacward Ho!, Detroit.
Back then the market was overflowing with all kinds of economic simulators. Even ones dealing with the unification of germany or the aftermath of it (Aufschwung Ost/Boom east).

I never got far with those and usually was bored quickly. Maybe the game of that genre that I played the most was "Biing!: Sex, Intrigue and Scalpels" an adult (business centered) hospital simulation, which I played on my Amiga 1200 (fucking 19 Disks!).
And the intro of the game was hilarious:
