I remember someone saying that the RGB -and the HDMI mod disables the shitty filter that the N64 uses, but I also remember that if you have an flashcart or gameshark you could use a code that could ALSO remove it. Is this true?
>>4113823
There are multiple filters involved IIRC.
We just had a thread that discussed this whole thing but...
>the RGB -and the HDMI mod disables the shitty filter that the N64 uses
Not filter, it reverses the console's horizontal scaling of 320x240 to 640x240 which normally causes blur.
>if you have an flashcart or gameshark you could use a code that could ALSO remove it. Is this true?
No, the Gameshark codes disables something different - post processing effects. One of these, the dither filter, causes blur as well.
Unfortunately the code is all or nothing. You also lose some edge anti-aliasing, which itself doesn't cause much blur and is quite effective at getting rid of jaggies.

Do you have any pics of both for comparison?
buy this on ebay for 6 $, how rar is it?
You bought it for $6. That's how rare it is.
>>4113783
For now, at least.
OP got a great deal.
>tfw I see another howrare thread
He was so sweet before. Why did he turn into a drunk?
>>4113332
Weird changes
Previous director wasn't doing much progress and Chris Seavor stepped in with his raunchy humor.
The demand for another cutesy game was very low, people wanted something more mature..I guess when it comes to the content displayed not the actual dialogue.
Dumb question but can you reverse-yellow a colored console with hydrogen peroxide?
Console in question is NTSC-J Saturn Model1
Pic semi-related I guess
>>4113072
So you want to make a white console yellow?
Wut?
>>4113098
Yes because yellow plastic is clearly more aesthetically pleasing. Why resist and not simply embrace the suns UV rays?
>>4113098
Makes it more classic looking.
ITT. post your favorite levels. from any retro game. mines smb3 world 2 lv 4. it has a "last page of Go Dog Go" vibe if you fly to the top part.
well, to me it does, anyway
Donut Plains 1.
It's just one big playground, I could live there.
Not a "level" per se, but damn, the tension is palpable.
Kalm Town was comfy as fuck:

What are your favorite retro platformers that aren't Mario or Sonic?
Gex: Enter the Gecko is amazing
>imaginative levels
>colorful
>cool looking collectables
>climbing on walls
>the funny phrases Gex says
Feels like I'm trapped in Boy George's pants
More Gex
A Cheech and/or Chong, please report to the front desk.
What is the least shitty retro Superman videogame?
The Atari one.
The arcade version by Taito? The best answer is Returns.
>>4112076
9/10 kryptonians that immigrate to Earth are terrorists you know
anyway the hack that turns Sunsoft's Sunman into Superman (like he was meant to be) is pretty good
Death and Return of Superman isn't the absolute worst thing in the universe
So is this a /vr/ game or not? It's released in 2017, but it's for the SNES. Are romhacks released past 2000 /vr/? Are homebrew games released past 2000 /vr/? Are WADS released past 2000 /vr/?
its about the console, not the game release date
and this game is retro AF, it was completed in retro years
shitty thread
If the game can run on the original hardware released in /vr/ times, it's retro.
We do have threads about new games released for consoles like SNES and Genesis, and yes we also have a romhack general here.
>>4111997
>So is this a /vr/ game or not?
Yes.
>It's released in 2017, but it's for the SNES.
Final release maybe, it was in a mostly completed form back in the 90's.
>Are romhacks released past 2000 /vr/?
Yes, why wouldn't they be?
>Are homebrew games released past 2000 /vr/?
Depends on the platform. If the platform is /vr/, yes.
>Are WADS released past 2000 /vr/?
>>HURR, ARE MAPS FOR DOOM /vr/ IF I MADE THEM TODAY?!
See, now you're just acting fucking retarded.
What does /vr/ think of this?
Yiff in hell
>>4111925
I played the demo quite a bit, it seemed pretty fun with good looking graphics and aesthetic. Lots of little secrets that you could access with the character abilities.
>>4111925
It's a totally underrated platformer released unfortunately into a market that was over-saturated with cutesy platformers with better marketing campaigns. I certainly rate it higher than the likes of Spyro and Croc.
It never quite worked out who it's audience was though, I remember there being classic movie, art and bizarre Shenmue references in there.
Not a total classic but worth a mention if you're listing top ten platformers of that gen I would say.
What is the correct order to play these? I'm currently in GDI mission 11 of C&C (1995)
>>4111886
You save on the last GDI level before you blow up the temple. Then you take out the temple without, and finally with the ion cannon. Then you play the covert ops.
>>4111946
Cool. Shouldn't I play the NOD campaign too for the full experience?
>>4112041
diff anon but if you want full experience, you have to play C&C Renegade because it takes place during the last days of the First Tiberium War (C&C 1 AKA Tiberian Dawn), also because the last GDI level shows up in there too
What game invented wall jumping?
What game invented charge shots?
What game invented sliding?
Talk about iconic mechanics and what games you think invented them.
I don't care which invented it but Megaman X implemented it the best
Wall jumping is trash. If you fuck up and fall down a pit, you shouldn't be able to recover from it. Take your punishment.
>>4111772
Depends how the game is designed. If a wall jump is hard to pull off and allows skillfull players one last chance, why not implement it to up the skill ceiling? And if a wall jump allows for other interesting level design, what is the harm in allowing players to avoid pits?
Hi /vr/ today i ended the last proyect of my degree and now im free after 4 years. Can i have some recomendations about good text adventures for windows?
>>4111748
Yu-no
What are the most ambitious (and possibly frustrating) dungeons of first person crawling history? Stuff like Wizardry IV's nonsense or SMT I's Great Cathedral.
Singular floor mentions and puzzles are fine too
The pyramid in Dragon Quest III was a lot of bullshit.
Not only is it full of traps and some of the most annoying enemies in the game, but the item you got in the pyramid is a cursed mask, it's like a trap within a trap.
(The cursed mask can be useful though, but it's mostly a hassle, especially because once equipped, you can't take it off)
>>4111430
And I just read OP wanted first person only, welp. Haven't played many first person dc other than SMT games.
>>4111435
No worries
wtf is wrong with bubsy 2? I started the first level and first of all the music is terrible compared to the first game. Also the level design is completely nonsensical and all over the place. There's also a lot of slowdown. Definitely not up to par with the rest of the bubsy franchise.
>>4111209
shoulda played the genesis version bub
>>4111212
what's the difference?
>>4111209
is this a joke post these are the worst games ever
love this game
>hero
Fucking Europe. Why were they so afraid of ninjas?
>>4111291
>tfw your continent was the only one sensible enough to make a stand to calling those guys ninja, because it would be an insult to ninja
The turtles are pretty good heroes, but they're shithouse ninja.
