All mario party games are shit.
>4-dimensional graphics
>life-sized sprites
dude time is linear lmao
>>4113918
I think its more hilarious back when the atari 2600 was being advertised they would say things just like this ad where the graphics are so good or realistic. and you look at it and even though back then it was impressive but no one would ever think that a few colored squares was realistic in any way
Sup /vr/
Can you recommend me some nice atmospheric NOT GAMES.
You know, games without all that conventional vidya stuff like enemies, deaths, highscores, difficulty levels and clear win states.
Pic related.

Why were text based adventure games superior to casual point n' click adventure games?
In a text adventure you can move as fast as you can type, whereas in King's Quest clones you have to spend time moving a guy around the screen
Personally I like Shadowgate style. Still has graphics but no guy to move around

Because Infocom got over their early obsession with unfair puzzles pretty quickly, while Sierra just kept cranking them out.
>If you had picked up the butter twelve screens ago, this anvil wouldn't have fallen on your head! LOL!
Well, okay, there was some of that in a few of the later Infocom games (Hitchhiker's is probably the worst offender in this regard) but overall they got better faster.
>>4111926
In the graphical ones like Demon's Forge you had to wait for the scene to slowly render itself every time you moved. That shit got old REALLY fast.
Name your top 5 2D retro games. If you have one of those 9x9 lists on hand you can post them but the number 5 really forces you to narrow it down to the absolute best.
Try not to get swayed by public opinion, if you don't care about mario don't feel obligated to put it in just because it was revolutionary and deserves recognition. This is YOUR 2d favorites, the ones that mean the most to YOU.
and remember
2D game =/= sidescroller. link to the past and pokemon are 2d games
1 - Symphony of the Night
2 - Rondo of Blood
3 - Original Castlevania
4 - Super Metroid
5 - Castlevania IV
Don't care much about rpgs but I have to shout out chrono trigger

All modern games are trash, no exceptions.
Indie devs are lazy to work and they produce utter shit. Sometimes they try hard to look like retro games, but it ends to be shit, because they have unexistent system requirements. AAA games are too huge so they don't have any worthwile things aside of graphics.

90s.
It was a dark time.
Stop.
I generally like Ayami Kojima's art but god damn, her bishounen Simon was atrocious.
What are some good retro eroge?
How often are you going to make this thread? At least use a new image, e.g. one of the titles you were recommended.

Oh, I remember that one. I probably don't want to know how old the youngest sister was in the original japanese
>>4104995
Given that she's in high school probably 16 or 17.
>grew up in the 80s and 90s
>saw it sitting in the video store for years on end
>never rented it
Lately I have this nagging feeling to go back and play all the greatest games I never played. Should this be on the list?
>>4100758
No. It is the worst Phantasy Star game. 1 and 4 are worth playing though.
>>4100764
it's the most universally critically acclaimed one i can't see it being the worst one...it's literally what people are talking about when they mention phantasy star. this has always been my perception since the 90s
>>4100758
4 and Online are the only good Phantasy Stars. Don't listen to the Masterfags trying to tell you the first game was good.
Which one was the superior sequel to Sonic 1?
>>4099101
2, certainly.
CD I adore mainly because it's a missing link game; the sort of path the series could have gone down in an alternate timeline.
>>4099101
CD. CD was a perfect follow up. The sprites everything. 2 was legit too.

This thread is for the spirited discussion of CRT displays - Televisions, monitors and projectors used for the playing of retro games!
>Try to keep it /vr/-related: Nothing past 5th gen(+ Dreamcast). Slight OT might be okay if related to CRTs (E.G. 16:9 compatible models, flatscreens, etc.) Systems with backwards compatibility are also pretty safe territory, assuming you're focusing on the older games. PC CRTs are also a-ok.
>Produce OC! Get out your real cameras and take beautiful pictures of your CRTs displaying recognizable characters with the kind of beautiful accuracy that brings tears to the eyes of young and old alike! If you take 100 photos, at least one of them will turn out alright! (maybe)
>Try to be as detailed as possible when asking info on a specific model. As always, google is your friend, and we are your friends with benefits. Older archived threads aren't a bad place to look either.
>Share appreciation for others choice of technology and personal philosophy of gaming. As always show courtesy in your discussion and moderate yourselves first.
Discussion of video processing and scaling devices is okay, but try to keep the focus on CRTs and CRT accessories

I posted this in the last thread... Sony 20-inch KV model fs in my area. 50$. Mind you, I wasn't going to pay that... was looking to pay more like 25$. Would that be fair? And the anon who called me a summer kid can kindly fuck off.
>>4093227
Free or leave it for the scrapyard.
>>4093227
Also a PVM-14N5U for 80. Again, don;t know if that's worth it. Just looking for a smaller-ish tube to put in front of my bed for vidya fun.
Reminder that you are a literal retard if you purchase this.
You're a literal retard if you weren't born in time to enjoy the SNES when it came out originally and didn't keep it.

I'll stick with Higan.
What are obscure horror titles on the PSX that are worth playing?
Pic unrelated
I'm sure there's a list somewhere.
Anyways, try Hell Night / AKA: Dark Messiah.
