What the hell was his problem?
FUCKERS JUST WOULDN'T STOP SKIING ON HIS GIANT COCAINE MOUND, THAT'S WHAT.
Once managed to evade the fucker when I was a kid, probably my proudest /vr/ accomplishment
I always thought his eyes were nostrils, and the eyebrows were his eyes.
So I really want to experience NES and SNES games, but I don't own either console. Are there any good clone consoles I can look into buying? The aftermarket prices for the originals are retarded but at the same time, plenty of reviews for things like the Hyperlink 2 in 1 complain about them not lasting long or just outright now working.
I don't want to spend an arm and a leg, but if it's my only option for consoles that won't shit the bed in a few years, so be it. Any insight would be appreciated, guys.

yes a good emulator box a shitty laptop or a raspi3 retrobox!
don't purchase gargabe clone system
Just get a real snes
>>4121459
My fiance likes watching me play games so I figured something for the television would be best. I currently don't have any computer or laptop, and fuck the cost of buying either.
>>4121459
Just a SNES alone is like $80 used at the least on eBay though. Are there really no reliable clone consoles?

What 2d retro platformers that are great or good am i missing? Ive only played Mario, Sonic and Donkey Kong series and i want to play games similar to that and please enphasis on great games, i don't want mediocre or average games like that crap called Adventure Island.

Okay, let's have a progress thread.
We post our progress about the games we are playing.
I am playing Fantasy Zone. I got this game yesterday and my best is board 6 so far.
Is this a good idea for a thread?
>>4121173
no, this is a terrible idea for a thread.
the only things i like about fantasy zone are the name and the fact that it reminds me of that muppet babies episode where they all pretend they're inside the games.
>>4121173
>board 6
What did he mean by this??
Can a dreamcast play lucky and wild in any way or form? I have a wheel and two light guns, and I know mame exists on dreamcast. There are a lot of different mame ports though, and I don't know if any would support peripherals, or if they would run the game well.
>>4121137
I don't have an answer for you, but I'm in this thread for science. Getting unique arcade games to run on other hardware is my fetish.
>>4121372
I'm investigating and will update this thread if I find anything.
At worst you can probably play it on a Wii, but I'd prefer having 'proper' light guns as opposed to the cursor stuff that you get with Wii gun games.
Lucky & Wild uses positional guns that are more like pointing devices anyway. Back in the day it wouldn't run on MAME period so I'm confident it plain won't run on DC or Wii builds even if you got the pointing devices set up right. I suggest playing on your PC using a steering wheel controller and a large dual analog stick like the original PS1 dual analog controller or a Virtual On controller.
is The Adventures of Bayou Billy; harder as Ghouls 'n Ghosts?
Can this game be played properly without a light gun?
>>4120272
Harder in my opinion.
>>4120272

>he plays the NES port of Maniac Mansion
>he cares about what others do
Hey man, you like point and click adventures, and I'm not making a thread greentexting it.
>not playing the famicom version instead

NES port of MM is fantastic, you cum slurping redditor
I just started this game, how should I set up my controls and any tips for beginners.
Don't pick any of the language skills (daedric, impish, nymph, etc) they're a waste. Plan on saving a lot because you can get stuck. Understand that bugs were a part of life, you'll encounter broken shit, try to not get frustrated.
If you still have even a slightly active imagination you'll enjoy Roleplaying in DF. It's great.
Since its procedural generation there is repetition, but, honestly people who complain about it haven't played the game enough to appreciate just how much detail went into the unique parts. You'll find hand placed shit all the time.
Regional flavors are fun, combat is generally fun (better than MW, in my opinion), and the game is big, fun, unique, and totally breakable.
I hope you enjoy.

1) Loot cemeteries and tombs. They are small dungeons with few enemies and a fair bit of loot.
2) Grab a wagon asap. That extra space is really nice.
3) Save often. Save before taking a quest and have a secondary save slot.
For controls I'd recommend Q for spellbook, E for jump and F for ready weapon. Tweak the rest of the controls as you wish.
Daggerfall is by far my favorite TES game.

>2) Grab a wagon asap. That extra space is really nice.
not OP, but I've heard that there is a bug that makes things in your wagon disappear. if it happens to quest items, it breaks the quests, and this can break even the main questline.

What did Earthbound mean by this?
>>4118587
It meansreport this shitposting thread
>>4118587
>not threek
>>4118587
Onett and Twoson were peak comfy. Wish the whole game had stayed like that. I feel like it started going downhill around Fourside.
When I first discovered emulators, I was slightly taken aback by how raw and sharp the pixels looked - I was simply used to seeing what was probably a blurred image on my SNES. Is the consensus here that sharper = better? I was interested in RGB cables for my SNES for richer colour; do they still maintain any desirable softness copared to emulation?
>>4117973
You're talking to a board that has fetishized lower image quality, don't expect a sensible answer.
>>4117985
Playing older games at a lower resolution is actually pretty sensible since it was what was available at the time, and is how the developers intended the final product to look.
If you're into sharp pixels, use a flat screen tv or whatever you want to do, but to my eyes a game like Donkey Kong Country just looks shittier with improved graphical fidelity. The blur definitely smooths out the rough edges.
>>4117996
don't some snes's use a low pass filter? do they still look good on a flatscreen?
I speed run Super Metroid a lot and want to stream it for the hell of it, but want to know what sort of capture card I would need to do so. Is there a capture card recommended to stream my SNES while I do this shit? Being able to do NES as well would also be nice.
Quality isn't really important, get a sparkle or whatever those cheap RCA -> USB dongles are called
>>4117576
Will that let me air my game without ruining sound or video quality of my SNES?
>>4117695
No, but it'll probably add input lag.
anyone else find jrpgs really fucking boring?
I like Dragon Quest series and Megaten.
Pokemon is also fun.
>>4117184
this is now a darkstalkers thread
Jurpurgurs are gay garbage.
What's the best platform to play the first two RE games on?
>>4114190
RE1 = Saturn
RE2 = Dreamcast
PC, pretty much. REmake on GC is good but really is different and would give you wrong expectations. RE2 on Dreamcast is pretty great and just werks unlike PC versions but if you get them set up right you'll have the best truest experience with the PC versions.
I played the dual shock version, didn't give a fuck. I thought the ass trumpet music felt just right with the cheesy atmosphere.

>remake of SNES game
>not retro
Fuck off, fail-rulecuck.
>>4114082
well, is it garbage? not even clicking, I'm counting on you guys.
Call me when there's a price drop. Like hell a remake of a decades-old SNES game that adds 2 new characters is worth $20USD, or even $15 with the sale they have now.
So with the whole Grimoire fiasco going on, it made me want to finally try Wizardry. Is there a "definitive" game that newcomers are supposed to start with? Anybody here into the games that much?
All I really know about Wizardry are the meme posts about IV's difficulty.
>>4108359
It depends on what you want. I recommend the Super Famicom "Story of Lyllgamen" remakes if you want to play them in order.
Wizardry is cool because it was the firs game to really "get" what makes turn based RPG's good. From a design standpoint, almost every dungeon crawler is indebted to it.
Its just a cool game and a paragon of its genre, not for everyone but pretty sweet if you can get into it.
I think V is a nice bridge between 1-3 and 6-8. You get a classic town centered dungeons while also encountering NPCs and the like.
It's also a bit fairer so you're not as likely to get ambushed by enemies that kill you in one hit. On top of that you can even export your party to 1 and 2 and with limitations to 3.
>>4108359
i am trying out wiz6
how do i know what attribute points go where? i'm confus
