But it's way too easy. Is there anything similar I can play? Is the 64 version more of the same and still too easy?
>>3307287
Final Fantasy tactics was made by the same team
The 64 version is much easier, you can train up all your troops out of battle.
>>3307292
This.
FFT is sadly the best game they've done. All the others are either too easy or very simplistic when you actually delve into the mechanics.
Except the PSP port of LuCT which is just a bloated mess of bad decisions. FFT is far from perfect, but a solid game at least.
Sup /vr/.
Finally I managed to play original Quake with an actual Voodoo accelerator (game runs on win98 machine with PII400 and Elsa Gefroce256 SDR as main graphics card) and I was a little bit disappointed.
Sure game runs way smoother, but all that lovely details on the map looks kinda faded and the whole color pallet feels washed out.
Am I doing something wrong?
>>3306718
Turn down the gamma in 3dfx control panel.
>>3306795
Yeah, its on high by default.
>>3306718
Just play Quakespasm. Why the hell would you use original hardware when the fucking source code works on modern computers.
What is the first handheld console you have ever had? My first one was the Gameboy. Not the advanced, not the small ones, just the big Gameboy with Tetris.
Game Boy Pocket with Pokemon Red.
Noice m8
A purple GBC with Pokemon Blue.

Do you do this every thread?
Is this remake actually better than the original PSX game?
Have not played TS, but lately people are telling me this.
It's better in the sense that it has more gameplay variety, you can for example hide inside lockers and fuck around with guards in more creative ways, it's like MGS2 in that regard.
But some people don't like it because "not like muh original".
If you've already played the original, go ahead and try TS, it's a good remake.
>>3305137
>"not like muh original"
people don´t criticize only for the fact of being a remake, but for the ankward new cutscenes and for shoving MGS2 gameplay into the original level design. It´s like having Venom Snake sprinting like a beast and having full third person shooter on Big Shell. Does it make that a better experience than the original? I don´t think so.
Also, if you think about MGS basically being a 3D revision over MG2 Solid Snake, TS makes even less sense. They are basically putting a PS2 gameplay in a MSX 2d-latter 3d world.
Anyways, of course the game is fun to play and worth the pain, but like anon said, play it like a revision of the original, not like a substitute
>>3305160
Yeah all of what you wrote is what I meant with "not muh original".
I agree with you though, it's not a substitute, but TS is still worth playing. I'm pretty sure if it was released on PS2 it would have been received way better, I don't know why Kojima decided to remake MGS1 on Gamecube when the core fanbase of MGS is on Sony, especially during PS2 era.
Tell me /vr/
Do you jump with A and attack with B, or do you belong to the master Race that Attacks with A and Jumps with B?
I'm not sure you could've taken a worse picture if you tried.

I only have a Moto G
>>3305073

What are some retro games that use the same engine? I know DQ I-IV on the NES pretty much run on the same engine. Pic related are pretty well known examples of reused engines.
Power Rangers Fighting Edition and Gundam Wing Endless Duel
Did games really have 'engines' back then?
>>3305034
yes. Stuff like map metadata, collision handling, loading strategies can be reused
Fun Fact: Did you know that the same people who made the redneck fps shooter Redneck Rampage went on the make the original Fallout that same year?
Did you know SMB3 USA was actually a reskin of a Taiwanese game called Donkey Kong Picnic
did you knwo mario is a plumber who jumps
Video games are games.
Beautiful fami/nes graphics. Yet the bosses are very hard with the slow controls.
I love the sprite animation in this one. It feels sorta Prince of Persia-ish.
>>3305662
Totally anime prince of Persia with good music too.

Must be a pain in the ass to produce such fluid animations with sprites.
What are some Aussie games or games that feature Australian things. Because Australia is one of the greatest places in the universe and its people are awesome

All games are true blue when you play them with modified Pal 60, ntsc is shithouse mate. It's an absolute ripper on a crt, you'd have to be a bloody poofta to use a HDtv.
Most games are hard to beat without using continues.
But can you think of any games that are harder to beat by using continues?
gradius
>>3304072
Armed Police Batrider.
The more credits you put into the machine, the higher the rank system is raised and makes the game impossible.
>>3304086
This includes other Raizing games like Battle Bakraid & Battle Garegga.
The rank stays up even if you game over and start over; you have to let the attract mode loop many times or reset the whole cab to bring it back down to default.
What belt scrolling fighting games have ya 1cc'd lately, /vr/?
>>3303919
that's not the x68k version, homie
Moving up the difficulties with Blaze in SoR 2.
>>3303945
The X68000 version is kinda overrated. Sure, they made the in-game world larger, but the new areas are just copy and pasted from the already existing material from the FC version. It's not really that interesting.
Does a better game soundtrack exist?

Yes, Thunderforce V.
In another thread someone wrote:
>Satrun`s sound system didn't support hardware ADPCM meaning sound effects usually sounded either high pitched or grainy than on PS1
Is this really true?
If so, what does it actually mean on a technical level?
How good does your hearing need to be to hear the difference?
Is it night and day or does the room have to be dead silent for you to barely notice?
Rank the following consoles in audio quality:
PS
SS
N64
3DO
Jaguar
PC-FX
Pippin
"This is Sega's pride and joy. The Saturn sound system consists of a relatively powerful sound CPU, but the custom Yamaha sound processor gives the Saturn audio capabilites outstripping both the Nintendo 64 and Playstation."
"Saturn's sound hardware is phenomenal. It's way, way, better than the PlayStation's sound - you can basically plug in a synthesizer and play it through MIDI."
--Saturn Developer, Next Generation, December 1995
http://videogamereview.tripod.com/saturn/specs.html
>>3301429
Also, on a personal note I think the saturn has excellent sound quality, in fact you can easily mod in an spdif jack into the system for a direct digtal signal. Whoever said the Saturn had bad sound probably hasn't played one, I've never heard that argument and I know from personal experience that it just isn't true.
>>3301414
Well you can hear the difference yourself
Compare the sound effects in Rayman on PS1 and Saturn (the sound effects, not the music).
You'll hear that on Saturn the sound effects are a higher pitch and faster. This was done to make them a smaller size because the Saturn's sound chip can't decompress them on its own like the PS1's sound chip can.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9vs_QghlU1s
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Hvf6eL4CDg
>>3301429
What the Saturn's sound chip does have going for it is more sound channels (32 vs 24 on PS1), less CPU dependence, and greater adherence to professional workstation interfaces for easier sound production. But IMO the lack of hardware ADPCM is a bit of a fatal flaw. The Saturn's CPU can decode it in software though.

Yes, because they're a multimedia experience that the audience interacts with and is acted upon by a creator who made it with the intention of making the audience have a certain experience.

To my knowledge, no one in or out of the field has ever been able to cite a game worthy of comparison with the great dramatists, poets, filmmakers, novelists and composers. That a game can aspire to artistic importance as a visual experience, I accept. But for most gamers, video games represent a loss of those precious hours we have available to make ourselves more cultured, civilized and empathetic.
