Sup /vr/.
Finally I managed to play original Quake with an actual Voodoo accelerator (game runs on win98 machine with PII400 and Elsa Gefroce256 SDR as main graphics card) and I was a little bit disappointed.
Sure game runs way smoother, but all that lovely details on the map looks kinda faded and the whole color pallet feels washed out.
Am I doing something wrong?

Turn down the gamma in 3dfx control panel.

Yeah, its on high by default.

Just play Quakespasm. Why the hell would you use original hardware when the fucking source code works on modern computers.

But the experience of playing it on original hardware and playing a modern sourceport with the settings set to vanilla Quake are identical.

> Elsa Gefroce256 SDR
What? I thought you said Voodoo?

whats the difference? New to quake 1 here, started with q3a

not having to pay for specialized pc parts from over a decade ago for starters and better for most mods

Voodoo 1 & 2 need a main card since they only provide 3D acceleration, no 2D.
