What are some of the worst arcade ports?
>>3301371
Any Amstrad CPC, ZX Spectrum, or any other britbong computer port from the 80s.
hate to say it but ...
To its credit unlike the NES version it has two player co-op.
But you both are locked onto a single line so no up and down movement
Is it really as good as people claim it is?
>>3301049
Play it anon, it's cheap on steam, xbla or you could just burn a DC copy, hell you could probably emulate it if you have a half decent computer. Why ask strangers first? Make your own opinion.
>>3301049
Yeah, probably.

100% best shmup ever made
You're In the Arcade and This Guy Slaps your Donkey Kong score
What do you do?
Hand him an altered tape of me "beating" his high score
Wonder how the nearby arcade got a Donkey Kong cabinet and why I'm playing Donkey Kong
Try to get some free barbecue sauce at least
If Master System is so much better than the NES, how come its third-party support was so dismal?
Also,
>pause button on the console
lol?
??? they're the same system
It's better because it came out after the Famicom, I think the console that was out when Famicom released in 1983 was one of the SG systems before Mark III, which were more akin to Coleco Vision or Intellivision.
Famicom simply was the most flexible hardware to make games on as early as 1983, and it catched on heavily in Japan, and later in the rest of the world as the NES with an already stablished catalogue of games that continue to grow until the early 90s, with both MD and SNES out already.
SMS came out late, the graphics were better than the NES, but not enough to make people go "man, I want the SMS instead of the NES", that happened when more advanced consoles came out, like MD or SNES.
Research the shit practices that Nintendo used to back in the 80's. They made companies sign exclusivity deals to be able to license the ability to use their propriety cartridge system. You either played ball with Nintendo or you were blacklisted from selling games on their system.
Everyone loves Nintendo and forgets what assholes they were in the NES days.
What's the best home version of Sunset Riders?
Genesis

SNES

Arcade duh.
Do you prefer the electro-metallic feel of FM or the more realistic samples of PCM, /vr/?
I swear to fucking god, if this is a genesis vs snes thread in disguise
>>3300079
It has to be, considering there are other types of sound than just the two methods that those two consoles just happen to be known for.

What does /vr/ think of the pce? Was it a second-rate SNES? Or something ahead of its time.
>second-rate SNES
More like a suped up nes/80s japanese computer
>second-rate SNES
The PCE came out even before the MD in Japan. It was really more of a bridge between 3rd and 4th gen.

Wonderful console. In that sweet spot graphically where it wasn't capable of fmv, so it dodged the bullet of shitty sega CD style "interactive video", and instead we got games with gorgeous pixel art based cinematics, bigger sprites, more varied artwork and CD quality audio. The pinnacle of 16 bit CD gaming imo.
Why is this game so piss-easy compared to literally any other Castlevania game?
>>3295839
When you have good controls, games are easier. SMW compared to SMB 3. Turtles in Time compared to TMNT II and III.
>>3295839
The devs didn't fully adapt the game to the controls. Still my fave Castlevania desu famicon
>>3295839
I beat Bloodlines on hard w/both characters and I still can't finish Super
What's up with the "harder is better" meme tho you don't really think Haunted Castle and x68000 are best do you
Guys, help me find a game that I played a demo of from when I was a child!
I don't remember if you ran around with the key buttons or your mouse, but you controlled a barbarian or some other kind of warrior named Magnum in a roman setting.
I remember that the setting was cozy as fuck.
The camera angle was static and I remember you running by the colloseum in the distance.
Also, when you died this really scary skull with either thorns or those olive twigs around the top of the skull, with a scary grin.
Does anybody know which game I'm talking about?
I should also add that it was for PC, and that I played it probably some time between 1997 and 2001.
I know of the game. I want to know the title, too.
Maximo?

>original snes game will be even more expensive now
kill me semp
Good shit. Waiting for a trailer.
One of the coolest games lost to tide of time: Illbleed
Released in the spring of 2001 and Sega Dreamcast at death's door, Illbleed would sadly be relegated to obscurity. Despite the unfavorable reviews from critics, Illbleed has a horror survival experience which has yet to be matched by any other title. The atmosphere, identifiable characters, charming aesthete, campy tone and plot all culminate in producing what might be the first Horror-Comedy Survival:

It's a pretty cool game. Far from perfect, but still quite fun.

How are the park staff so nonchalant about their jobs? They're like being paid(?) to maim people.
Post good smash combos/funny moments. OC is welcome. Stand by for dump.
Isai is God on earth
Thoughts on this for emulation ? Anyone have one ?
How hard was it to set up?
>>3306617
Have a rpi, emulated on it once. It's alright but honestly pretty shit overall. Better off building a computer for it or just getting the consoles. Might be alright for older harder to find things. Also I prefer playing games on a crt and the pi has absolutely terrible composite output
>>3306617
Seems okay, it's like my "lazy" setup when I don't want to Tate monitors or hook PCB's/consoles up. I use Lakka and it's okay for most pre-1999 anyway. Wifi was the only "complicated" thing because terminal commands but that shit is in the tutorial. Bluetooth is super simple pairing. But desu if you play on a CRT the wii is pretty good if you don't mind a lot of things. And if you do mind a lot of things maybe just forgo the emu.
Have that exact setup on composite. I use retropie 3.8. Easy to do if you can handle basic Linux commands. Follow the wiki, most complicated thing to do is find proper BIOS files for a couple emulators, which isn't hard at all. Works pretty well, especially for gaming with nonautist friends. I'm a collegefag with no space or cash for a real collection, so 50 bucks on a dedicated emulator "console" is a good deal.
It isn't purist, but idgaf if I can just pick up and play any of my old vidya
Sonic The Hedgehog
Tell me something about Sonic I don't know yet.

No need to elaborate.
USE YOUR SPIKY HEAD
Favourite story based retro game, /vr/?hard mode: no pc/dos crpgs or zeldas

FF6. You should have specified all RPGs, since that's pretty much the majority of what you will get as responses.
Bad dudes. It has all the story I could ever want, those action stages are basically filler.
