Is Russia a shithole? I mean, is it a worse shithole than Bug City for example? My group will probably need to go there soon.

Have you read the Sixth World Almanac part on russia?
>>48620891
>Is Russia a shithole?
Yes.
>I mean, is it a worse shithole than Bug City for example?
Not even close. It's a shithole, but it's not a hellhole. As Russia ever was, it's just depressingly run-down, cold, and bleak most of the time.

The world has expanded, and so has the color spectrum!
NPC's living in the HUB:
>Bevy [TV headed Golem] (keeps track of residents and quests, speak with him if you want to improve your room)
>Elaine [Blonde in dark-green tabard and breastplate] (ranger, tamer, and race skills teacher)
>Mango [Ghost in the attic] (deals with elemental crystals, whisps, and elemental skills)
>Smith [Gold Skull helmet, near the forge] (crafts items, sells equipment, combines items, enjoys the finer things in life)
Friendlies:
Crash Blunder (watching the Coldbolds swimming)
Earthbold (in the forge room, taking a break from repairs to the HUB)
Now, each player (new ones included) gets a single PCA which stands for (I think) Player-Character Action. These are used to develop your character via interacting with NPC's on a meaningful level (improve a skill, gain a new skill, hire the npc, etc etc) and are not used on fluff actions (conversing with the npc, giving a gift, trading non-merchant items, etc)
In addition, if you were here before the end of the previous run make sure that you cashed in your Quest Rewards. If you A)posted that you accepted the quest and B)it was listed on your character profile (at the end preferably) then it means you were a valid participant in the quest!
>[Error Purge] was the run's Party-Wide Quest, meaning you didn't need to keep track of it or say you accepted it, the rewards are split among all members of the party automatically.

You have found an ancient lamp in an alley on your way home. Turns out a Djinn lives in it. He is reluctant but obligated to grant you one wish.
Grant the wish of the poster above you, but in a diabolical "be careful what you wish for" way. Then state your own wish.
I wish for the woman of my dreams!
>>48634121
You receive a hot corpse as your dreams are dead or you recieve nothing as nothing in dreams are real or have physical substance.
I wish for unfettered omnipotence.
>>48634156
You gain unfettered omnipotence, but unfortunately for it to work you need to go to a completely different universe and start from scratch.
I wish for a million wishes.
So one of my players has committed a sin against a lesser diety, he killed the deity's child in cold blood when he was in a barbarians rage. the diety is now going to take revenge by cursing him.
Out of game, the player yes did go into a berserker rage and kill the child, and the boss, and all the adds, he was a killing machine, the whole party, the player, and I think he is a bit too strong, and a bit dangerous when he berserks (might kill a party member in a single swing).
However we all really like the character, and none of us have any problem with the player, in fact he brought up that he may be too dangerous and volunteered to switch characters. we talked it out and he would prefer to keep the character.
So I'm looking for an in universe way to punish and weaken the character without just reducing his stats, got any suggestions?
If it matters the Diety is a nature type, rules over an enchanted forest. and the character is a Berserker
thanks in advance
>>48615451
He cursed him to become a tree. Every time he would go into a berserker rage his muscles would grow stiff and oaken and he would gain a sense of great patience - essentially removing his ability to rage. The more intense his anger would be, the more severe the stiffening effect until one day he is fated to become a tree himself.
The presence of youth sends him into an almost catatonic state. How far reaching this would be is obviously up to you, but could definitely be brought up in situations where the character going apeshit would actually be of value to the party.
Wielding his blade takes its toll on him, and any time he hits with his weapon 1HP per attack will be siphoned from any future HP rolls he makes.
You could play it up like a punishment from the Deity to suffer as his victims did. It would also keep his health from growing a lot which admittedly is pretty damn painful for someone like a Barbarian, if definitely wont be able to be ignored and it will also make him more cautious about reaching for his sword in every situation.

Query: Depends a bit on what I'm making, really. If it is my main system, I tailor it. My main system is created for my tastes so that I can run games with it optimally. Thankfully, it lead to a really intricate system that should, in essence, be easily graspable.
If it's something else? I usually do them design in the front, trying to squeeze the most I can from the specific thing I'm trying to design. If it causes it to have some convoluted rules, even if I fail to streamline them, I will leave them there. If someone wants to play it but doesn't like the rule, they can golden rule the fuck out of it.
To liven up /gdg/ a little, I think we should try to do something collaborative again, for a change.
I have just completed my core system, so I would need something to do on my spare time, too.
We should start with a simple goal. The end can be anything as small as a project worthy of a 1d4chan page, or something big as a proper Drivethrurpg-release (Assuming it's an RPG, of course).
So let me try to start: We should start with something weird or wild: Everyone is John and Haiku Warrior come to mind. We have the power of a dozen designers and the fleeting ideas of absolute madmen.
I believe we can do it! I wouldn't want to throw my ideas into the mix yet, because I feel like I would dominate and seize the entire project, and then it would just become one of my many projects.
If this would happen to catch interest of anyone here, I would be happy help to bring something new to life. And at the same time, maybe set these embers that are /gdg/ to flames.
Just to mention it, though. I have to go to sleep now, I'm not expecting much, but I hope you brethren find something to cling to.
I will return
Hey, /tg/ I'm looking for a way to bump up my chapter size above 1000 without getting blammed.
Any suggestions?
>>48629253
Be codex adherent.
>>48629253
Spread your chapter out across a large area.
Even then, you'd probably only be able to stretch it to like 1500 or 2000 before attracting a lot of attention, and 4-5000 is about the absolute max you could cleverly get away with. Even then, that'd be hard, and you'd make quite a few enemies in doing so, and you'd have the Inquisition breathing down your necks at literally every turn.

>>48623916
Duly noted. I kinda hate this approach, only because we've been starting to feel the effects of how combat kinda stagnates after awhile, and have been leaning towards more interaction based problems.
>>48623917
Will DEFINITELY keep that in mind. I like that scenario.
What are your thoughts on this situation: The ranger in the party kinda came to a realization a few months ago that the ranger is kinda....less tooled / powerful than other classes, and so I've been giving him a lot of freebies to make up for it (increased CR on companion, arrows, bow, etc. He has the bulk of those items listed).
He's also a shit that likes to go off on his own more than any other player because he likes to feel like a badass.
I've been doing this thing where a gang of Kenku have been stalking the group because of a hit on the groups head from a former adversary (them being followed, feeling like they're watched, all the way up to someone leaving a bounty under their pillows and black feathers in their bags).
Next time the ranger goes off on his own, I plan on having him outnumbered and being embarrassed by the kenku as part of their mind games (binding, tarring, feathering, and leaving him naked in the woods).
Is that a bit much?

Think of any character class from a system that uses classes.Got it?You now have to run a campaign for a party where every member is playing as that class. What system/class is it? How do you go about it?For argument's sake, assume this hypothetical party consists of 4 people, and they're willing to bend to any restrictions you put on character race, abilities, etc. as long as they all play the same class.

Mankind sought out other power sources in the face of an energy crisis, eventually stumbling upon an alternate dimension called the Wave Zone that expanded outwards and eventually blanketed our own dimension in magical energy. A Wave, capital W, is basically like the Force. There are several different types of Waves, each creating their own 'interference' and 'attunement' from which they get their names, like the Justice Wave."

Welcome to Dawnborn, folks. For those of you who don't know me, I'm Jade Ripley, with Dreamscarred Press. For awhile now we've been asked when we're going to make our own RPG system, and what it'd be like. Here it is, ladies and gentlemen, starting up for an early public alpha.
You can find the initial playtest packet here: http://dreamscarred.com/dawnborn/
There's gonna be an info dump in my next post here, bear with me!
>>48618877
> Who's Dreamscarred Press?
Dreamscarred Press made its name publishing third-party content compatible with the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game. You may remember us from such conversions as psionics, or Path of War. Now we're branching out into making our own system.
> How long will playtesting go on for?
Until the damn thing is done. We did testing for more than two years on Path of War: Expanded and that was just a supplement. We want this to be done /right/, and that means treating it with patience.
> What's the game about?
You take on the role of parahumans (there's another word you'd know for this, but it's owned, so...them's the breaks) in a world where evil won its great victory a long time ago. After more than a thousand years of the Endless Night, you - the Dawnborn - have emerged to make one last fight for hope.
> These mechanics look a lot like Mutants and Masterminds
Yep. Our mechanical base is in the OGL content for Mutants and Masterminds, but that's just so we can get a working pitch going. Right now potentially ANYTHING is up for change - ability scores (number and function), powers, skills, how EXP works, literally just about anything except the pitch for the setting is up for critique and alteration.
> Who's heading this up?
The original pitch for Dawnborn was done by Andreas Ronnqvist. Our mechanics lead is Matt Meideiros; I'm our worldbuilding lead. I'll also probably be the guy tossing your feedback to internal and asking you to expand on your critique.
I'm on deck to field further questions, comments, feedback, and discussion. Strap yourselves in, folks, we're in for the long haul - and thanks for stoppin' by.
>>48618877
>>48618945
Neat. Gonna check it out.
So is this DSP's take on Exalted or Godbound?
Fine, I'll buy that it's better than Exalted 3e. Not a high bar.
But why should I play this over Godbound if I want fantasy superheroes making a dark world a better place?
>Guts after the Golden Age Arc with berserker armor
>Crimson Fist Veteran Sergeant with a power fist and power sword
They start fifty meters on a grassy field, the fight is to the death. Who is the better warrior?
>>48616800
Space Marine, no contest. Guts could probably take down a low ranker, but a Veteran Sergeant of the Crimson Fists is just too much OP, especially with a power sword AND power fist. Guts only has his sword, which I doubt would be incredsibly effective against power armor, and the power fist can always catch a blow (like what Calgar did with the Avatar of Khaine).
guts can't die unless every drop of blood is spilled or every bone is broken when he is using berserk armor so for this fact alone im giving it to guts

What is /tg/'s opinion on this game?
>>48621185
I'd love to tell you, but a pdf seems nigh impossible to come by.
I wanted very badly to like it, but I feel that the pdf was negatively impacted by not including an example of play. Things are explained in such a weird order that showing how things should unfold would have helped very much. That said, I love the idea and am on my second read-through trying to piece together exactly how it works.
>>48621185
/tg/'s opinion might be mixed, since when it's kickstarter was being run some autist spammed threads for it across at least /tg/ and /a/ to stir up internet rage.
but as for the game itself it's a fairly decent expansion on the narrative system of Nobilis; It's power system has more dimension to than just "spend MP or don't" but it loses modularity and customization to do this.
By design it's aimed toward lower-power games than the casual-world-shattering of Nobilis, which is probably good for drawing interest. It's better at letting you do things without having to be a god.
And the setting is the pretty standard weird atmospheric fantasy of Moran/Borgstrom. If nothing else it can be amusing to read and pillage for lore, especially stuff relating to the Outside, and it carries some remnants of extremely good dropped projects.
>>48621708
I could have sworn there was an example of play centered around a group of death cultists escaping their already-dead world.
Have you ever played a low intelligence character? How did it go?
Forever DM, mostly homebrew.
Only time playing DnD - I played a low int barbarian who lead his beastial, animalistic tribe to many victories over other tribes with his "wit" and "strategy." Ei. basic combat tactics and wearing some armor he stole.
The tribe talked him up for so long he became convinced he was the most intelligent man in the world. He traveled alone into the civilized lands to spread his knowledge to the world as a traveling tutor and strategist.
>>48613992
i played a low int goblin. every time i came up with an idea that i knew the character would like to do but i knew was a bad idea, I'd make my character roll a wisdom save. if he failed he would sail full speed ahead into bad idea island. otherwise he would think better of it. it was fun.
Once.
He was a combat monkey, of course. Oddly enough, he was one of the more motivated members of the group, always ready to go out and fight The Enemy. Considered reliable by most because he stayed out of politics and kept their territory well patrolled.
Kept getting in fights with one of the clan elders who was easily eight levels up on him at any point. Yes, he got his ass handed to him, but winning was never the point and he usually came away with at least one new dirty trick.
Once beat up a fire elemental with his fists, and laid the foundations for a form of supernatural kung fu.
Eventually died because he refused to acknowledge that plot events had just nerfed the crap out of all his special tricks and went off to handle a side mission by himself. He got himself captured by The Enemy he'd been so dilligent about culling, and they had some pointed words to share about that.
After failing to escape from a prolonged torture session, the badguys sent his head back to the group in a box.
