It pretends it's HFY, but their culture is barbaric, decadent, barely functional, and quite explicitly doomed.
At best the heroic individuals in it's military forces and Inquisition can stave off said destruction, but given the rate that the group's are riven with corruption and useless people die and take others with them this is at best a delaying tactic.

The Imperium of Man survived by sacrificing everything that makes Humanity worth surviving at all, and much like The Emperor they are propped up in a shaky semblance of unlife as they wither, rot, and inevitable fail.

Yes, I feel like a telepathic snake charmer. The whole deck is about value and double dropping bombs with Maelstrom that I can tutor to the top before both cascade triggers, or after the first one hits.

I just show up with a punk character and things tend to work out. I always seek out the scrappy bands of fuckups so make sure there's those.

Neutral Elf child in a town that was completely fucked by war. Protecting his family and ran at the group.

My ideas so far:

Gym challenge (with a few variants, but the same basic earn badges -> elite four challenge idea in each)
Team Rocket equivalent - as an option both to fight against or join up with. Not going to be strictly evil the way teams are often sold in the mainline games, but definitely not good guys, persay.
Religious Cult - Basically, treating the legendary pokemon more as gods or forces of nature, and having religion be an important aspect that pops up every now and again. I have some ideas for a "bad guy" cult, but not a whole lot for the more positive side of religious orders just yet.
International politics - I'm not gonna force this one on the players, but they still will occasionally run into border troubles or similar things. If they don't want to pursue it, those encounters can serve essentially as interesting filler.
New Pokemon - Pokemon Sage is a thing (although now a couple years without development), and there are already adaptations of those pokemon for the PTU system. I'm gonna throw in the occasional brand new pokemon so that they can experience the sense of discovery that the games hold.

I want to see a sorcerer dedicated to summoning, because I feel like the conjuration wizard just doesn't do the trick for me. How they fluff that is less important.

I was more focused on the environment we'll be in: Underground dungeons, tight spaces in which an animal might get in the way, lots of dark, lots of potential for traps and the like...

As such, a Ranger who can see in low-light or dark, spot traps and potential danger, maybe even scout out, while firing arrows during battle, all with Favored Enemy being Construct, and Favored Terrain being Underground, with Dungeoneering knowledge, etc... That's what I'm thinking. I know we've got mostly melee people in my group already, plus I enjoy ranged play.
