Abby flashes you a look of relief.

"Yeah! Don't get between me and "carry on Christian Soldier" here!"

"No no no." You wag a finger at Belial. "That's not how it works. Nobody is anybody's servant in this cell or its network."

Except White Fell come to think of it...

"We're partners. And if you want your car..." You place two plates of pizza at the feet of the fire and smoke Belials "...Then you act like the noble demon Queen you are."

"A car?" Hahaiel asks. "What is this about..."

"It is none of your concern angel.": The smoke Belial says sitting down. "It is a private matter between me and Anon."

"Yeah flap off." The more belligerent fire Belial says as the wiser smoke Belial pulls her down to sit beside her.

"You've bribed the ultimate queen of demons into obedience with a car?" Nayara whispers to you.

"Not a car." You smile as your correct her. "A hot rod."

"Got to give credit where credits due." Nayara says. "They tell me I'm good closing deals with people, but I don't think I could have pulled that one off."

Last time, you ran from a wizard, pissed off a god, rode a unicorn, played some cards in the Neon Elvii Casino and planned for a coup and a robbery. You are the junior partner of a Faerie Lady who goes by the name of Gwynn and an ex-thief. Not so much on the ex-, apparently, as you are going to meet up with some of the bosses of the Las Vegas outfit and maybe burglar some locale. That is where the first thread ended- you and Gwynn on the way to a certain establishment of legitimate business.

So, I'm back in the saddle. Love me some weekly quests, but I'll be travelling between 11th and 21st. I'll run an extra quest before or after to make up for it. Follow the twitter for exact times.


You are Mark Blaine. You know a few simple illusions and you have a fairly neutral relationship with Gwynn. You own one ragged business suit and around $300. And you are wearing sunglasses indoors.

You leave the Neon Elvii Hotel and are out on the street. While the Strip might not ever sleep, you are not quite on the main super-highway of entertainment, so the morning feels dry, hot and strangely quiet.

You check the address on your phone, and find that the place you'll be meeting the fence will be a mattress store. Figures, that's the sort of place that only exists to launder money, or to 'go legit' when you don't really want to.

It is a twenty minute drive away.

Why am I not allowed to have stat modifiers for gender in my games? Bethesda games do it, Bioware games do it, Mount and Blade does it, and I’m sure tons of games I don’t know do it, and we’re all fine with it. Why is it such a taboo on the tabletop? I just want a game that better reflects reality, and in reality men are more physically adept whilst women are more socially adept. We all know that theres a huge difference between men and women, why do we get so angry about this on the tabletop? I’ve heard some ridiculous arguments from claiming men aren’t stronger than women, to it would cause players to minmax gender. Why shouldn’t players minmax gender? Most soldiers are men for a reason. It’s because we mutually have to admit there is a physical difference between the genders, in a video game it’s out of our control and we don’t consent to it. Tabletop games require mutual agreement on rules, so if a rule contradicts our constructed reality we can’t allow ourselves to consent to it, and we all want to live in the ideal fantasy that all humans are all the same, because if you don’t believe that you’re a sexist , racist, or both. If I made all men have +1 str, +1 con, -1 dex, -1 cha; and then had women have -1 str, -1con, +1 dex, +1 cha : Wouldn’t this still be equal and fair?

Gehenna churns bellow the flashing motes of light as waves of boiling metal sweep over the orbiting ship hulls, radiation piercing through space like echoing gunshots as atomic warheads detonate against armored starship. Fighters pass in rapid streaks ahead of their payloads, leading ferrous slugs of metal and kinetic warheads as they slam into the formed fleets, puncturing armor and rupturing shields. Point defense guns pivot and wait in anticipation as the strike craft hurl past at speeds well above what the naked eye could ever perceive, and with quick bursts of fire cut down the passing ships one by one, turning the tiny ships into charred ash and dissipating chunks of slag shotgunning across the system. The fighters that survive continue on their way, chased by interceptors as the Commonwealth fleet's formation breaks and the ships begin to launch their payloads, firing clouds of medium range missiles and railgun rounds at the decelerating Union fleet closing in on their position in Gehenna orbit.

A moment later, the second salvo hits, cracking through the hull of a cruiser with a silent flash of light that sends its armored hull rippling like water as it boils in an instant, and the ship begins to spin, sending water and atmosphere bleeding out into space in a wide arc as in the distance flashing of light sparkle among the Union ships, the attackers' shields flaring like the glimmering teeth of some great animal's maw.

Yes. This makes sense.
The reason is quite simple. If no matter what you roll, you're going to succeed/fail, then you shouldn't be rolling. If you're going to fail even if you roll a 20, then the DM should simply tell you that.

I'm glad we're past this little issue, and we never need to pretend it's something huge or important.

I wrote 300 wizard spells for a homebrew I'm making for me and my friends. But when they see 58 pages of spells to pick from at level 1 their eyes kinda glaze over.

The spells are all available at level 1. Some are more situational than others, sure, but I don't really want to get rid of any... and they're already sorted by school (Abjuration, Necromancy, so on).

How can I make my big spell list more palatable to my easily-overwhelmed homies?
