*Want to use Mutants & Masterminds' exact rules in a fantasy setting?
*Think that Mutants & Masterminds switching to 3d6 or some other dice system is a great idea?
*Hate Pathfinder in general?
*Don't like the way Exalted tries to do "bronze age heroism, fantasy superheroes, improving a dark world" but screws up the rules for it?
*Don't like the grognardy OSR way that Godbound does "bronze age heroism, fantasy superheroes, improving a dark world"?
*Too lazy to pick up and learn all of GURPS and its point buy?
*Think Marvel Heroic Roleplaying and Worlds in Peril are too wishy-washy rules-litey for you?
*Don't like the way Strike! splits characters up between non-combat and 4e combat builds with "roles" and "powers"?
If you answered "yes" to any of the above, maybe you'll like Dreamscarred Press's Dawnborn!

Nigger I can already do that with fucking M&M in the first place. Why the hell would I use this outside of the pre-made setting which you are not even bothering selling.
>>48686553
I've heard in previous threads that Mutants and Masterminds is a placeholder system, the end product will be quite different. Whether that means a highly modified M&M, or an entirely new system, hasn't been confirmed yet.
Don't take this as me curtailing your feedback though - constructive criticism is how games get better.
>>48686553
He's not selling.
He's trolling. The actual Dawnborn devs are not involved in this but someone is spamming Dawnborn stuff, likely to try and build up bad blood over the system.

Obviously things would be very different, but what might it be like over the ages?

Literally nothing changes, religions aren't the problem, people are. Zealots will find something to cling to and go all out on it, doesn't actually matter what it is because they're crazy.

What does /tg/ thing of the Dragon Age rpg?
If the crunch is good then it might be enough to forgive the fluff.
Might.
Because the fluff is shit.
I'm also kind of curious. I haven't really heard anyone talking about it for a while. I'm guessing a lot of people just don't really give a shit about bioware stuff anymore, but who knows
Can i play a pansexual qunari that identifies as a woman mage?
so, i've been into TTRPGs for little over a year by now, it's been fun, but i want to start to break out of my comfort zone a bit and start learning about(and hopefully test) a few new systems and settings that follow.
Currently i have only tried a very simple d6 system with very low fantasy (from my country, so you won't know it), DnD 5th edition (which i also DM'd for) and Pathfinder.
So i think it would be a fun idea to start a thread where people talk about systems/settings that they enjoy, possibly with some fun stories from games of said system.
any kind of stuff is welcome, either tolkien fantasy, gothic, post-apoc, space, modern, sci-fi, etc, etc.

My favourite scifi system is Stars Without Number.
It offers a great setting, very clean and concise rules, with a lot of freedom and extensions to the game.
My favourite fantasy & rules-lite system is Barbarians of Lemuria.
Simple as fuck, and such a good flavour (think Conan).
I could give you the pitch but youre better served just reading the books on your own to get a feel for it, and I'm too tired for all that effort.
These are two systems I love, and I reccommend them strongly, so I'll answer questions about them if you like.

Tiers are usage-based. A Tier 2 deck may be better than a Tier 1 deck in a specific Metagame.
Gnarlwood Dryad has been very effective in my current testing of Zooicide.
Opponents rarely block it, which allows a direct window of opportunity for the combo.
There are turns where I've held it back on defense duty to assemble a clean kill during a later turn and the opponents rarely attack into it.
Delirium is surprisingly easy to achieve in this deck, even with Become Immense thinning the graveyard.

Magical tattoo highlander causes robotic invasion. All according to plan
Empty chairs at empty tables...
Two clusterfucks clash to see who will save the world.
You look in horror as white liquid bursts forth from your grandsons chest.
The substance flows in the air as if it was submersed in water and begins to gather near his face.
As the pale, featureless mask forms you hear a single distorted cry from the child and you can feel chills running up along your spine.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=21IBMY8Ky1Q
Tremendous amounts of spiritual energy begin to leak from the newborn child, Dante.
As you look around the room you can see the terrified expression on everyones faces.
The quakes quickly grow weaker and eventually stop as the baby slowly drifts to sleep and his reiatsu fades.
After the apocalypse abruptly stopped the silence is almost deafening.
The only things you can hear are the strange noises your friends are making with their gaping mouths and the still distorted breathing of the baby.
"WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT?!"
Asher screams at the top of his lungs.
In response to that everyone either starts covering his mouth or hushes him as hard as they can.
"Are you nuts boy?!
Who knows what happens when it wakes up again?"
Pesci quietly whispers into Ashers ear.
Everyone is looking at the child, still mortified.
In that moment however Alex glares daggers at Pesci.
"He's not a thing!
His name is Dante, remember that!"
She speaks in a strangely calm tone and yet it carries more weight than anytime she curses endlessly.
Pesci looks at her confused.
"Alex, please!
I love you as if you were my own girl but I beg of you!
You can't possibly believe that thing to be a child!
I almost passed out just by being near it!"
While the two of them are arguing Yata looks like his eyes might have rolled back into his sockets.
"Oooohohohoho...
This is going to be maaaarvelous!"
You carefully remove your finger from the babys sleeping hand and look at Harribel who is looking at you with saddened eyes
"I'm... not sure what to say."
Neliel meanwhile looks at the baby with fear in her eyes.
As this is going on you can see Yata creeping up to Alex.
"Come ooon baby~
Time for your examination."
Alex hugs Dante tightly.
"Don't you dare!"
But Yata is relentless.
"Why?
Don't you want me to take a look at him?
Who knows what sort of complications have arisen with his sudden transformation?
It's for the best my dear uhuhuhuhu~."
She looks worried but after sighing she gives in.
"Fine but so much as a strand of hair on him-"
"Don't worry! I got this!"
He says as he confidently reaches out for the child.
In that moment however you can see Dantes eyelids slowly opening and see him quickly grabbing Yatas finger.
The young child gives off an innocent laughter which is then distorted by his mask.
Meanwhile Yata is screaming like someone is skinning him alive which excites the baby, causing him to laugh even harder.
You swear you could hear crunching noises and somehow you doubt Yata has a secret supply of biscuits under his sleeve.
By the time he manages to pull free of the young hollows grab the imprint of the small fingers is clearly visible on the elongated digits of his hand.
He wiggles the clearly broken finger and it goes limp.
Just as that happens his high speed regeneration kicks in and the wound slowly starts to heal.
Yatas screams of pain are clearly very amusing for the child.
"Oh wow.
This actually hurts! A lot!
Incredible!"
He says as he is hissing in agony.
"I'm so sorry Alex but he'll bite your tits off when he begins teething."
Alex gives an embarrassed or perhaps worried look to Dante who is now very cheerful after the sudden interruption of his nap.
As you are wondering about the situation you feel a hand grabbing your shoulder.
Turning around revealed Harribel looking into your eyes.
"Kaizar...
Are you feeling alright?
You don't look so good. Do you need to sit down?"
You grab her hand and lower it down.
After holding it for a few brief moments you let go and give her a smile.
"I'm fine, don't worry about me."
You look at Dante then Alex and finally Asher who is losing his mind right now.
"I can't believe this..."
He caved in under the pressure and is looking down at the ground.
You pat his head to get his attention.
"You okay?"
He looks up to you.
"How could I be?
I mean look at this! This is insane."
"Asher!"
Alex shouts at him.
"He was a spirit from the start so it would have surprised me if nothing like that happened."
"B-but what do we do now?"
>"Let Grandpa try something."
>"You are the scientist Yata, what do you say?"
>"Harribel, can you help?"
>"Asher you are his father, man up!"

FAQ:
>What the fuck is this?
Somewhat a campaign of crack-infused free-form roleplay in the grim darkness of the far future.
>When do you guys make these threads?
Usually mondays at 4PM GMT, but they sometimes extend to Tuesdays if we got caught in the middle of something when the thread died and it was too late to make another one the same day.
>Can I join in?
Sure, just think of a character and have fun, you can find most info in 1d4chan albeit it's ussually a little bit out of date in comparison to where the threads are.
>Is there any requirement in character creation.
Not really, we've had Xeno infiltrators, Chaos infiltrators, Villains, Heroes, Normal Guardsmen, Crazed Guardsmen, Assassins, Psykers, Space Marines, Inquisitors, Squats... just think whathever and join the fun.
>Is it allowed to have more than a single character?
Yes as long as you don't use it to powerplay.
>So how you guys do the playan'?
We tend to use spoilers for OOC chat, but nothing is set in stone.
We tend to use greentexts for describing a character's actions, but again nothing is set in stone.
Use d20s for combat checks and d100s for other things you want to roll, higher Is better.
It's important to know that the regiment is now in the employ of a radical Ordo Xenos Inquisitor, with influence from an Ordo Malleus Inquisitor and under the watch of an Ordo Hereticus Inquisitor. Yes we've been through a lot of shit.

About every other day at least, I see a thread of a complete newbie asking for advice. I wanted to post an introduction thread and basically have a gateway to filter newbies through, to give them good information that I think should be "standard" of posters here on /tg/.
This is the rough draft of it. It's incredibly long though, maybe about 10 posts worth of information. I want to hear your guys opinion on it before I post it. My eventual goal is to get something that most people can agree on and to turn it into a sticky, possibly with this very picture to foster good relations.
http://pastebin.com/1UJyb1nE
Tell me in this thread what you think. I'll look over it myself after a while to give it some time and a fresh read before I go into a second draft.
>>48673443
I have a question you didn't address Senpai, where do I find a group?
>>48673684
That is a good point. I'll add that in my second draft.
Friends is an obvious first answer. Then I think I'll mention the bulletin board at the FLGS, then maybe using roll20 or gamefinder threads and meetup sites after that. Or are meetup sites not reliable anymore?
This thread is exactly what I need after lurking here for a few months and having minmal experience role-playing

Remember to wake >>48664363 up when 5e has kitsune character options! How would you stat up kitsune for 5e? Maybe a fox race with three subraces for reynards, kitsune, and kumiho?
Charisma and Wisdom bonuses, charm spell on a short rest, ability to change between humanoid and fox form as a sort of at will wildshape with the same HP.
>>48665760
Yeah I should have read into her character a little more. Maybe I will just leave it an option to have her survive but if she is as bad ass of a warrior her backstory makes it out to be then maybe I will see if she can save herself somehow.
>>48666081
No, I'd make them NPC monsters with the Fey subtype.
Kitsune's that are PCs races are shit-tier rules and bitch-tier GMing and fails on every conceivable level to really tap into the numerous ways you could tell stories with folkloric yokai kitsune.
Basically the sign of a hugely lazy or unimaginative GM, which is more sad then anything in the rules themselves because the players unfortunately have to live with the consequences of it even if you remove said special PC race.
Sup /tg/, I've been pondering this recently, so I wanted to get your opinions.
In general, for sci-fi settings, which do you think is the better weapon type: Kinetic Projectile Weapons or Directed Energy Weapons?
Railguns and particle weapons.
>>48645229
Kinetic Projectiles for two reasons.
1. Portable energy weapons are unrealistic given what we currently understand the heat and energy requirements.
2. Bullets are cool.
Point two is important. IMO, nothing beats the feeling and aesthetic of bullets flying through air, ripping holes into concrete, and blasting people in a bloody pulp.
>>48645229
Kinetic weapons for handheld, energy weapons for vehicle sized weapons

Jumpers!
How do you deal with unwanted collateral damage? Specially if said collateral was accidental and hard to fix.

I just want spell lists.

I have a perk from... GMG I think, creates a sorta reality protection field around the battle arena, so no extra collateral.
