Why would anyone who can afford a sword buy an axe instead? Once some tard posted ''muh archer sidearm'' scenario which makes no fucking sense because real life archers had swords too. Face it axes were pure shit.

I know pic related wasa Cauldron capebut what type of trigger event could he potentially need to experience if he was a natural trigger with the same powers?
>>49078318
well, I hate Doctor Mother more than Cauldron as a whole, because Doctor Mother had stopped realizing that what she was doing could be seen as wrong.
While I understand that a level of emotional distance was required for what they were doing, she'd forgotten that there is a problem and a danger in having too much emotional distance.
I understand her, but I still hate her.

>In the end the best humanity managed against Scion was Eidolon, who was a Cauldron cape.
and was defeated in about 10 seconds using 4 words.
>And they only managed to actually win by convincing Scion to commit sudoku, which is so unlikely that it seems unfair to criticise Cauldron for not coming up with that idea and depending on it alone.
actually I do blame Cauldron for not considering Scions mental state at all.
Other human beings, not connected to Cauldron, talking to Scion and considering his mind resulted in Scion's turning being delayed, and then being vastly shortened.
If they'ed even considered that idea, they could have had more control, or at least ability to predict, when Scion would turn. Which would have helped their plan immensely.
Forgetting about emotions beyond causing stress to produce triggers was Cauldron biggest flaw.
>>49078478
He's basically a Thinker, and his powers let him explore multiple options at once, so I'd say that his (hypothetical) trigger involved being confronted with multiple options and being unable to choose.
Maybe something like a disaster scenario where he has to choose between saving two things/people important to him? Probably not directly threatening to him personally, hence no shaker/striker/brute powers.
Would fulfil the irony requirement by allowing him to save both things/people but only in different timelines, and having to drop one of the timelines in order to use his power again, so basically being useless for the actual trigger situation.

>It is common for noble families to hold tournaments to attract new talent.
>These range from gladiatorial combat to find skilled warriors, grand intellectual challenges to scout out promising minds, ect.
>Winners are offer the are offered the Second or so sons or daughter of the lord for marriage. Although it is mostly the bastard children that are offered but this still ensures loyal and skilled individuals for the House.
Would this system work? Legitimate children would be mostly for heirs and marriage pacts but also let the masses feel like they have more to work for. Any thoughts?

Sorry my grammar died on me I guess.
The Nobles offer a bastard of the Lord or someone related but far enough from the line of succession.
>>49087728
>>49087770
I really like the idea, I think its neat. But the problem I see is that you are essentially spending a resource (unmarried children) on strong fighters or thinkers rather than using them as bargaining chips in diplomacy. Unless you are either a small house with no grand ambitions or in a land where arranged marriages don't exist, I don't think this would be a great idea from a family's perspective.
Sure, I don't see why it wouldn't work.

Every time I try and play a Pathfinder game, something comes together to keep me from doing it. It's happened without fail for the past few months and I'm not sure what to do about it. Dust flowed over the cannon wall, bringing with it the putrid, yet tempting smell of burning flesh and hair. And slowly the bandit Higa crawled over to the ragged, stone edge and tried to peer through the smoke rising out of the human nest called a village. Hunger nawed at his stomach as excitement cut off what little logic the addled monster had left in him. If he wasn't so reckless, he would've turned tail the second he heard steel clashing and fresh screams leaping up from the once verdant valley bellow. He simply didn't care, his lust for excitement and hunger for fresh marrow drove him down the cliff side, running down it like a bird, sliding between stones and prancing down it as he held his arms to his sides to avoid them catching on any of the sharper rocks.
"HOOOWAAAaaaah!" He cried, kicking up dirt and sand as he reached the bpttom of the cliff, leaping into the air as he struggled to draw his sword.
He landed, and swung his blade out, feeling suitably impressed with his feat. He thought for a moment it was just like those shows humans watch sometimes.
And then the smoke cleared from the force of his swing, all of his usual jovial madness vanished as he found himself face to face with a monster in a steel mask, holding a human girl by her neck.
The thing was massive, at least twice Higa's size, and was covered in stone spikes, and rough sandy skin.
The would be bandit gulped nervously as more monsters wearing the same, jaw like mask emerged from the darkness of the smoke.
"Oh..." Higa said weakly, as he saw the tattered banner proudly dancing on the top of a shattered fountain, it bore a symbol of a dragon curled around a vast desert in flames, like a cat around a yawn ball "Nooo, you're all scourgemen, uh...I thought this was a human place....good fortunes, I must be Oaahhf"

>>49082573
The big one grabbed the scrawny monster by the hooks embedded in his flesh
"Where do you think you're going scrawny?" He growled "You aren't in scourge colors"
"of course not, I don't want to be in your war, I'm not of either side' the monster squeaked pathetically as the other monster held him over his head like a toy
"Doesn't matter, you walked in the middle of a raid" the monster snorts "And we don't leave a soul behind in our path"
the other scourgemen chuckled as the monster squirmed weakly
"don't kill me, I..I can get you gold...uh, maybe not gold but uh" He stumbled on his words as the big monster snicked
"Oh no, Our lady always needs more slaves, and you know us monsters last longer than fragile humans" The monster said, sneering wide enough to show his real teeth over the edges of his mask
and then with a quick headbutt, Higa fell still as his bucket shattered and spread its pieces all over the charred ground.

Meanwhile not far from this doomed town, a strangely fat RV tottered along, pulled by a fallen angel. Inside of it sat five damned souls and a beast, lazing around or greedily eating magical sweets.
But on the couch sat that little lucky demon and her master, having just spent and hour or two practicing magic.

Is 40k the only galactic-scale sci-fi setting where the navy is effectively less prestigious and politically powerful than the army?
>>49070849
Did you not play Battlefleet Gothic?
The whole point is that they're basically equal as no one should be able to accomplish shit alone, ideally the both should be politically irrelevant.
>>49070849
dunno if that's true, they're just emphasized less since the lore is mostly based on the ground troops
I remember hearing once or twice that people sometimes group up and create tabletop groups in prison. Is that true? How would I find tabletop groups in prison?
I'll be going to prison at some point, I've never been before. I was hoping I could find a group to play with to help me keep my sanity, if I don't end up getting stabbed to death in the first day or two.
Anyone here ever gone to prison? Post experiences if you feel like it.
>>49057250
I've heard stories about people playing games in prisons, but they all tell the same thing - the authorities often forbid this shit for two reasons.
1) Dice could be used for gambling.
2) RPGs can create fantasies of escape
Personally, I think that the second reason is a complete retarded bullshit, if I had the guarantee that I'll be able to do nothing but work out, eat, sleep and play DnD with my homies every day, for a couple of years, I would try to rob the bank the next minute.
>>49057290
Well I guess I shouldn't keep my hopes up for that then.
Have you gone to prison? Any advice for a tiny guy who's sure he's probably going to get stabbed the first day he gets there?
>>49057290
Do you think you could bypass the first reason by getting a cloth sack with 20 rocks, coins, whatever, and label them 1-20?
Just pull one out at random.
Future Naruto Quest
This quest is set within the universe of Naruto, long after the end of the series, but ignoring the events of the Boruto Manga. Of course, because this is Naruto we're talking about, the geopolitics and technology haven't advanced as quickly as they would in the real world. As such, the technology is similar to that of Boruto the Movie, and the villages you know and love are largely the same.
However, the characters will be less familiar, because as much time has passed between the Last and now as passed between the Founding of the Hidden Villages and the Main Series.

Last Quest, you beat up girls, and boarded another train.
First for Sensei a best
You wake up with a good yawn and stretch, back still a bit stiff from being stuffed in a storage compartment last night by vindictive Mist Genin. Sensei is gone when you look around your room, but you remember her concern for you last night. You dress and make your way to the passenger car where your team normally eats and seat yourself with Jimmaru for breakfast. Usually you're up before him, but you needed your rest last night. You have a surprisingly animated discussion, mostly him asking about the Suna girl who's number you got, and if you got to see the Mist Uchiha's sharingan. You joke around with him, feeling pretty rested and awake. Maybe that's just the espresso your ordered though. When you finish your breakfast, Jimmaru asks if you'd want to hang out for the day.

>>49082368

Most berserkers in fantasy are Mary Sues is there any setting where they display the weaknesses they had in the sagas? In case you're not familiar with norse mythology (which considering how this board knows absolutely fuck all is a safe guess) berserkers were said to be very weak once the frenzy is over and even in their pissed off state blunt weapons could rekt them altough they were immune to edged weapons and fire. It's also worth noting in the sagas they still use shields despite magic powers attributed to them but in fantasy they usually are portrayed with two axes or one huge axe which bothers me because dual wielding is fucking edgy and retarded.
>is there any setting where they display the weaknesses they had in the sagas?
In the sagas, they were merely champion warriors and their "berserker fury" was nothing more but them pumping themselves up before a fight the same way modern rugby players might pump themselves up before a game. Go fuck yourself, OP. You know nothing of the sagas.
>>49078872
Wew monks would have a nice boost from barbarians getting a blunt damage weakness.

>>49078937
>This fury, which was called berserkergang, occurred not only in the heat of battle, but also during laborious work. Men who were thus seized performed things which otherwise seemed impossible for human power. This condition is said to have begun with shivering, chattering of the teeth, and chill in the body, and then the face swelled and changed its colour. With this was connected a great hot-headedness, which at last gave over into a great rage, under which they howled as wild animals, bit the edge of their shields, and cut down everything they met without discriminating between friend or foe. When this condition ceased, a great dulling of the mind and feebleness followed, which could last for one or several days
>On these giants fell sometimes such a fury that they could not control themselves, but killed men or cattle, whatever came in their way and did not take care of itself. While this fury lasted they were afraid of nothing, but when it left them they were so powerless that they did not have half of their strength, and were as feeble as if they had just come out of bed from a sickness. This fury lasted about one day
Yeah stop repeating the bullshit Lindybeige said.
