Recently: You've escape your cell with Violet, retrieved both of your teams (minus Mewtwo) and met up with your friends.

General rules:

There is a 10 minute voting period after each post. Non-contradictory votes will be combined as best as possible.

Write-ins for all votes are always welcome and encouraged. They may not all make it into the post or be altered to fit in, but I'll do my best to at least try to address the spirit of the write-in.

Very important or contentious votes may be redone in a stricter voting system as it comes up.

Combat involves rolls! Once there's a clear vote winner, we roll for the move accuracy/crit/secondary effect. Usually it's just three 1d100s. Sometimes you can get a modifier from circumstances, so be creative! Add flair, do tricks with moves, mess with terrain, whatever! This is not a video game. Weak moves tend to be quicker.

Call me out on a mistake and receive an apology butt or suggestive picture.

Alright, time to kick Hornbeam ass once and for all.
>>
You’re assaulted from all sides. It’s a hopeless situation. Your senses are just overwhelmed. You can barely see or hear anything that you can make sense of.

And it’s great! Your Pokemon and human friends hug, kiss, and lick you.

“Nice to see you, Kat.” Geno’s unjudging voice cuts through. “Robin.”

Robin looks up at the crowd of spectators. Gym leaders and the Elite Four. She gets up, brushes herself off, pulls you up, and coughs. “Alright people. Show’s over. Main unit, keep advancing. Reserves, watch the rear. Nice and steady, but keep that pace up. Remember, we have people on the outside that are counting the seconds. Move out!”

Wow! She is commanding.

The group gets into gear and Robin turns back to you. She looks terrified but giddy. She breathes and forces it away. “There’s a PC box with the others. You can switch your team there if you need.” Robin grabs your shoulder. “Just a little more, and we’ll set everything right.”

“Robin.” Violet greets her cautiously.

“Former champion Violet.” Robin grabs your hand and starts walking back to the main group.

>Ask Robin to go easy on her. It’s been rough
>Stay out of it
>Lightly tease Violet about her former champion title
>Ask Robin about her eye patch
>Something else

The war camp of Melisende of Jerusalem. The Saracen fortress of Ascalon. Two forces locked in deadly combat as winter begins an early arrival, a constant chill creeping across the land, the sky threatening a light snow. Christian warriors shiver as they go on foot patrol, huddle around fires, complain bitterly to one another about the siege, about the Muslim defenders who are no doubt warm in their homes, in the Ascalon keep.

Eastern Romans now march through the camp, a disciplined troop with high airs that fray the nerves of the Western soldiery. All the Latins know the Greeks hold themselves to be a superior people, noses high as if they're sniffing god's arse, some joke. The peace is kept by the discipline of their lords, but animosity is shared between them.

Camps have been split, a body of troops sent south to relieve the troops in Gaza. The Romans barely make up their numbers. Through day and night men have been drafted into cutting long tunnels through the rocky soil, building a mine that would soon reach under the walls of Ascalon, dark, tough work that no man wants but many are volunteered for.

Soon the final assault will be at hand, with it the collapse of a section of wall, and through that gap would pour the savage might of Christendom.

Yes. Extremely gross and you know it.
You're basically taking Frankenstein into /d/ territory. What you should do instead is have the hideous chimera want to learn more about civilized life but currently unable to interact with it without traumatizing the townspeople.
It hides during the day and observes people, but so far it has skewed ideas of what people and civilization is really like.
The pregnancy thing is really disturbing but the idea that the monster thinks that possessing a child would make people more sympathetic is good.
They might eventually abduct a kid or adopt an orphan who might not be so repulsed by their new guardian. But this would enrage the townsfolk who now think everyone is in danger to the creature.
Unless someone teaches the monster how to be a part of society, it will continue to accidentally terrorize people and be villainized.

I dunno. On a related note, the setting I'm working up has a hive mind insectoid race that spawns roughly humanoid autonomous forms for diplomacy and trading with other races. Do you think it would be more appropriate for them to be kind of standoffish and alien or would it be more impactful for them to look and act exaggeratedly like other races?

The continuing adventures of an angel general and her loyal soldier.

"It must be...quite trying for her, at times." You say referring to Nayara's saints. "I know that when Anon finds himself stressed he talks to myself, or Costilla, Benny, anybody in our little family. What about you and her?"

"She keeps in touch with her old pack. Her sister is the new alpha and the pack in general is very proud of her." Hahaiah says.

"But what about you? Do you have anyone to talk to?"

"I...I find it difficult to connect with people of Earth. I have Nayara..."

"Anyone else? Just her?"

Hahaiah nods. "Just my partner."

You put a glowing white hand on his radiant armor. "It's okay. I'm sort of like that but turned around. I don't socialize well with our own people."

"Really?" Hahaiah says surprised. "You? Awkward among our own people? Why I remember you used to stand in front of legions of angels all entranced by your enchanting voice. You rallied them, you commanded them."

You flash him a wan smile. "That was a long time ago though...my voice was really enchanting? I remember thinking it sounded weird when I was loud..."

"It is still enchanting. It is only softer, gentler..."

You feel a pleasurable warmth build under your skin. "W-well aren't you a flatterer? You want to really be awful you should say something about my wings."

"Your wings are beautiful, as if they were carved from alabaster moonlight..."

You make a small stuttering sound in your throat and reflexively give your wings a flap. "I think your armor is really cool..." You say the first thing to come to your mind. "Its like its made of metal. Really cool metal."

"Thank you general."

Do both, keep flirting until just a point in time that it becomes way too embarassing for us, and then turn it back to the fight. Try to regain control.

Maybe talk about sword play, or perhaps a time when he didn't have his helmet on, or even bringing up how he always has his helmet on. I'm not too picky.

“Alright everyone, listen up!” Griselda addresses you all from the top of Janus. “A couple of announcements to make. First off, we have a new crew! They are the Light Music Club!” The Light Music Club is welcomed with their own tent in the campground, and they are applauded politely by the rest of the teams here as well. “Secondly, we have new details about the exhibition match between Lafayette Girls Academy and… Lafayette Girls Academy.” A few girls snicker here and there at Griselda’s fumble.

“So here’s the deal, it will be fifteen tanks on fifteen, elimination!” Griselda says. “It’ll be held on Saturday, battlefield map will be pending. ITL vs. NATO. Any questions?” Everyone raises their hand. “And yes, I am aware of the fact we don’t actually have fifteen tanks or crews. My sister, being gracious, allowing us to borrow crews and tanks from other teams willing to help us. So yeah. Everyone good? Great.” She claps her hands. “We’re in business.”

You sigh. Last night was spent trying to deflect every mindless bit of speculation between you and the Jeep Jockey. Just because a boy takes you to a concert and drives you home doesn’t necessarily mean you’ve tied the knot. It’s a good thing you didn’t obey the romantic comedies and gave him a kiss on the first date or else they’d NEVER let you live it down. Dear Christ.

You’re tried, plum and straight tired. You’re actually tempted to use up a vacation day today but…

What is a simple RPG-System that's fun to play for a group of 4-5 people?
I'm DM-ing my first campaign (DnD, 5th edition) and it's not going too well, because we don't meet up to play that regularly and the players forget half the rules until the next session. It's still kinda fun to play, it's just that I always have to explain why they have to roll which die even in the simplest rolls (eg. hit and attack rolls), and we wouldn't mind a less "deep" system. Help would be appreciated.

Barbarians of Lemuria.

>Barbarians of Lemuria,Mythic Edition (current edition) -- https://www.mediafire.com/folder/7llc83r2xf8bg/Barbarians_of_Lemuria_-_Mythic_Edition

>Barbarians of Lemuria, Legendary Edition (earlier edition, fewer details & more minimalist presentation makes it even easier to learn, but the rules aren't as refined*) --http://www.mediafire.com/download/p5w885sa9a869ma/Barbarians+Of+Lemuria+-+Legendary+Edition.pdf

>Barbarians of Lemuria, House Rules / Patches for Legendary Edition (if you want the bare bones minimalism of Legendary, but with the rules tightened up a bit) -- https://mega.co.nz/#F!CtQR2bST!y_awB-GHCiL3CdK4iLCV7A

*The main things are armor protecting too much, and brawl potentially being a dump stat. If you snag these specific rules from Mythic or from the house rules, Legendary stands up pretty well and is like half the length.

Ten years since Baraggans death.

In that time Vanaheim overgrew and consumed Las Noches much like the plants that inhabit it.
With the hidden oasis brought to the surface an overwhelming amount of hollows swarmed the new settlement.
The great expansion of the forest, thanks for the plentiful bloodshed from the war, caused the once small village to grow into a proper city.

And with such rapid growth the structure of Vanaheim had to be redone to accommodate so many people.
The Exequias, a new military police was created to maintain the fragile peace in the bustling city under the great pyramids shadow.
You felt it necessary that the army and the police would have to be separate but closely tied together for maximum efficiency.

They have two tasks: Keep the citizens safe from each other and punish those that have sinned.
Alistair was appointed as the Marshal and funnily enough his most trusted lieutenants are the former bodyguards of Baraggan, all six of them volunteered to join and after proving themselves were promoted accordingly.
Generally speaking they have only two ways to punish any offenders: Exile or Execution.
The unusually harsh punishment ensures that even the most blood thirsty hollows think twice before attacking others outside the Colosseum.

Indeed, what was once a simple tradition became quite a large attraction and the only place where hollows could let off some steam.
Anyone can sign up for fights within the arena but they'll be given opponents that are in the same class (Gillian, Adjuchas or Arrancar).
Killing is strictly forbidden outside of Death Matches and both halves had to agree to the killing rule beforehand.

But amidst all of this the greatest change came to the citizens themselves.
For once the hollows had access to something that used to be a luxury, free time.
220 posts and 21 images submitted.
>>
And with free time came boredom.
In order to alleviate this problem many people picked up various hobbies that turned into full blown careers.
A hollow might have started drawing pictures only to become a proper painter later.
Someone who got interested in shaping clay started making pots and distributed amongst his fellows.
Most people either acquired an occupation where they help the community, such as farming or cleaning, or they set up stalls where they trade their handiwork's to things of equal value.
Slowly civilization showed its head even with the lack of a proper currency.
Indeed, most transactions happen on a "I owe you" system or via exchanging goods.

But a malicious shadow looms over the peaceful merchant square.
The hollows look up into the sky as they hear a banshee like howl.

"DANTEEEEEEEEEEEEE!"
Apacci shrieks as the tiny figure darts past the innocent bystanders while giggling.

With a groan you roll around in your bed as you try to look at the window.
You get ready to get out of your comfortable resting place when an arm reaches around you from behind.
"Just five more minutes."
Harribel speaks, still half asleep.

You slump back into your bed.
"Fine...
But only five..."
With that you return to your lovers embrace.

In the meantime the culprit is running wild with his prize in hand.
The white haired boy looks behind him to see Apacci struggling to catch him.
Her head is beet red as she screams at the top of her lungs.
"GET BACK HERE YOU LITTLE THIEF!"

With a smile the boy responds with confidence.
"Okay."
He vanishes for a moment and runs a lap around Apacci, arriving behind her.

By the time she realized the trick Dante has already left her behind.
They repeat this process several times as the boy keeps losing Apacci in the small alleyways.
Eventually, after minutes of running around, Apacci gets exhausted.
Her hands are on her knees as she tries to catch her breath.

Standing on the branch of a rather large tree the boy is smiling triumphantly.
In his hands some sort of fabric can be seen as he spins it around. It's Apaccis bra.
"Strange, aren't deers supposed to be fast?"

Harribels Fraccióne looks up, a vein popping out of her forehead.
"YOU..."

Dante smirks as he interrupts her.
"Your next line is going to be..."

"DON'T GET AHEAD OF YOURSELF, BRAT!~"
The two of them speak up at the same time as Apacci fires off a bala.
"Huh?"

In her shock the female arrancar realizes her mistake.
Dante kicks the incoming mass of energy upward as he begins falling backwards.
As he is falling he grabs hold of the rope he previously fixed to the trees trunk and it activates the trap.
The rather large net erupts from under the sand and lifts the unfortunate Arrancar up into the air.

As the boy is chuckling to himself he looks up at his victim while still spinning the lingerie.
"Oh deer, this must be embarrassing for you!"

Apacci is screaming even more obscenely now as she tries to get out of her trap.
"YOU LIL' BRAT I'LL KILL YOU!"

But as Dante is laughing hard at her misfortune you lift him up by his red collar.
His eyes slowly shift towards you as his cackling stops.
"Ooops. Looks like I've been caught."
He says with a smirk and a shrug.

Welcome to the latest edition of Board Games General! The old thread is here ---> >>48942656

The new pastebin is up and has the link to the /tg/ Steam games group in the 'places you can find other players' section.

>>How often do you teach a new game (or games) to other players?

Fairly often - maybe 50% of the time we board game I'll teach a new game since I've got a large collection.

>>Describe your collection - what percentage of your games are light, medium, or heavy games?

20% light - 40% medium - 40% heavy games.

>>What percentage of your collection (if any) do you have sleeved or laminated?

I laminate resource cards and other large game parts whenever possible just to help preserve the components for as long as possible (and to avoid the 'spilled drink' / 'Greasy fingers' issues that kill game parts rapidly).

>>Do you ever make / use 'player aids' to help teach new players how to play a game?

I try to use any player aids I can like rules summaries to make it easier for new players to learn the game. I figure if new players have a good first learning experience I'll be more likely to get them to play that game again later. It seems to have worked for the most part so far.

I.. I admit it. I bought Dead of Winter 'The Long Night' even though my group hasn't played the core game very much and the 'traitor' mechanic in the core game isn't the best. But I bought it for a discount (under $40) so that makes it all good. Right guys? Guys?

>I think they were some gold labelled Mayday Euro ones. I'll see if I can find the packet later.

Thanks - that would be appreciated.

>Looking to add a few games to my collection and was hoping to get some suggestions!
>I have about 100 dollars to spend and im more than happy with getting used games.

Check the pastebin link in the OP. There are a number of places online where you can find discount new games - CSI, MiniatureMarket, and Cardhaus being some of the most well known. As for used games - check out the Board Game Geek site and their Geek Bazaar.
I've purchased 4 or 5 new or used games from various sellers there and always had good experiences (YMMV).

> I'm also particularly interested in finding some good coop games.

There are tons of 'full coop' and 'semi coop' games out there.

Full Coop:
Forbidden Island / Forbidden Desert. (Desert is the more challenging of the two.)
Sentinels of the Multiverse
Legendary Encounters (card game) - Marvel Heroes, Aliens, Predator, etc.
Pandemic
Zombicide
Dead of Winter (without the traitor mechanic).
Gears of War
Robinson Crusoe

Semi Coop
The Resistance
Dark Moon
Cutthroat Caverns
Level 7 Omega Protocol
Fury of Dracula
Shadow Hunters
Saboteurs
Specter Ops

>How often do you teach a new game (or games) to other players?
Pretty often due to being the board game supplier. Had the pleasure of being taught a few games by our FLGS owner though recently, which was refreshing.

>Describe your collection - what percentage of your games are light, medium, or heavy games?
Going by a combination of average time needed to play and complexity of rules, probably 25% heavy, 25% light, 50% medium?

>What percentage of your collection (if any) do you have sleeved or laminated?
I have 2 games fully sleeved, and another partially sleeved (Netrunner decks). Mostly due to how hard it is to bring in sleeves for varying card sizes.

>Do you ever make / use 'player aids' to help teach new players how to play a game?
Only the games that might be harder than usual to grasp the concept of (Twilight Struggle) or if it can be hard to keep track of possible options (Fury of Dracula).

>And of course, as always, feel free to brag about your latest new game (or admit your gaming addition). We promise not to mock you (much).
A store I buy from will finally be stocking Arboretum and Archaeology: the New Expedition soon, which I'm looking forward to. Small box games are great.
