So it looks like I'm going to have to be on my best behavior, even avoiding some of the usual World Improvement Projects that I normally undertake.
V and the rest of my Extended Family can beat up anyone who tries to steal me, at least they don't have any restrictions on their actions. I am going to do so much embroidery it's not funny. Those weaving skills and ability to turn monsters into silk from Jade Cocoon will come in handy (I'll have to provide my own monsters, though).
On the plot-related side of things, I'm thinking the best thing is to subtly slow Amir's aging so Kurlak can catch up with her.

And they are normal humans, that is material you can work with if needed. Like break out the vials of super serums (every jumper needs these for minions and general human uplift, I would recommend the worms from Futurama as something that can be cultivated by others when you leave, and pass from mother to child in the womb)

And start handing out equipment that is much hardier and high tech than it seems, like bows deigned on a supercomputer a few thousand years more advanced than the current era, to be the best that can be made.

Or go technomage, and make disguised tech that seems magical. Also, start figuring out how to embroider magic scrolls/spellbooks.

And books that are really computers where the pages act like touch screens, cause why make all the companions go without internet and games?

If i was confused, I would ask them what their intention was. If they didnt have any, but wanted to see how things panned out, then I would fast forward to when the Bandits next want to interact with them. They might be drawn into a pit fight or forced to mine, or seperated and both (although thats an ass to keep track of)

Eventually the players will want to do something, or just enjoy the campaign of mining and pit fighting as slaves. And who knows, that might be the campaign they were looking for!

Well, you told them that

and that the guard ignores them. So they feel that perhaps they should wait and see what happens. I mean, why not? There's nothing wrong with that. At some point someone will open the door to the cage for whatever reason, and then they can do something else to escape. Anyway, there's nothing wrong with them waiting for something to happen, and while you are correct that there are still a couple of ways to "spend time", they aren't doing a wrong thing by asking you (as a fellow player and contributor to the story) to provide something Interesting to Happen.

Because "spending time" locked in a cage is usually a punishment. I can understand why they would want to skip it, as most people trying to escape prison do.

I think planeswalkers are literally the worst thing to happen to the game. And I know I'm in the minority, which sucks.

Planeswalkers were a problem back in Zendikar block when the stupidly broken Jace, the Mind Sculptor nearly killed Standard as a format.

Now, the main problem is mythics ruining Limited formats due to the insane power imbalance between regular rares and mythic. Not to mention that mythics juice up the price of Standard and create a Yugioh-esque theft culture.

Tacticool would be either Black Legion or Iron Warriors. Both put a lot of focus on small teams of elite infantry that are specially equipped for specific missions. Their only major difference is their opinions on the Chaos Gods and their preferred fighting methods - BL is speartip shock assaults, while Iron Warriors are siege-breakers with elite vanguard infantry and demolitions experts.
