Never viable, or simply requires sufficient ingenuity?

Looks cool. According to some sources, large swords were sometimes worn on the back because it's the easiest place to carry it on for a long period, even though it's inconvenient to draw from in a hurry(a sword that size would drag on the ground if hung from your hips)
Historical sources indicate that Arab warriors carried swords on their backs until at latest the 15th century, and some period art shows Japanese swordsmen with no-dachis on their backs, but little historical precedent exists for Europe.
Most swords long enough that they had to be worn that way required assistance to draw, because the wearer couldn't extend their arms long enough to clear the scabbard.

If you need to travel with it, sure. But if you're actively going into combat with it you'd be better off slinging it over shoulder or holding it near your hips until you get where you're going.
what warhammer & warhammer 40k stories would you turn into movies?
High production quality tv series for Gotrek and Felix, and Gaunt's Ghosts.
Film series for Ciaphas Cain HERO OF THE IMPERIUM (with the short stories as DVD/Blu Ray/Red Ray bonus feature shorts), and the Eisenhorn and Ravenor trilogies.

So it turns out many of our dice are not as fair as we think they are and we likely have poor conceptions of precisely what mathematically constitutes fairness.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G7zT9MljJ3Y
Discuss?
I studied probability for a year in college, it's not difficult to understand or define mathematical fairness via probabilities. This video is just doing it with set theory for solids.
It is physically impossible to create fair objects that are perpetually fair (i.e. do not wear). But unless you're a casino or your die is visibly non-symmetrical, you will not notice the inherent unfairness, not will it matter in a roleplaying game where your non-die actions are the ones that should matter more.

But with a big enough d10, you can cheat your ass off! Just roll it right and you eliminate half the results. And the professor's example with the coin flips - hell, LAZY people can cheat JUST BY FLIPPING COINS LAZILY.
And sadly we all know that guy who is gonna try to fudge his rolls. Hell, we are ALL that guy in the beginning; it takes experience and a bit of wisdom to give up the need to cheat/win.
You are right that, in rpg's, DECISIONS should be more important than the chance-determined RESULTS of those decisions. But, chance and randomness exist; and simulating that in a game lends the game some emotional punch and excitement. It is important that that chance be simulated 'fairly'.
Cool video. Roll correctly, and use fair dice.
>>49343381
did you even watch your own video? He said the platonic solids are perfectly fair, because they are the solid with the most possible symmetries. Only the d10 not perfectly fair.

Probably because some make good core infantry, rather than simply being stuffed into Special which is a bit more limiting.

Given that KT is still played on a standard board, games that don't include a majority of models that can get to the enemy ASAP leaves it pretty bland.

>Given that KT is still played on a standard board
KT should be played on a 4x4 table, not 4x6 which is the standard.

Dual wielding does more damage than a two-handed-weapon barbarian without feats, especially before level 5.
Two-handed weapon barbarian does generally more damage with feats. Looking at you, GWF.
Two-handed-weapon barbarian can multiclass into rogue, however.
Just saying 'Two weapon fighter barbarian does way less damage' is plain wrong. There are conditions which change things, like the mentioned 'do you have time to rage before you get into the fight?'

Hey /tg/, let's play a game. Basically post some character art and write a backstory for character art somebody posted before you. Pretty simple, most of you have probably done this before. Don't worry about making it amazing or fitting it into any specific setting, just something you think would be cool/fun. Make it as long or short as you want.
I'll dump a couple pictures to get started.

How is he going to be able to just walk around? I mean Kaladesh doesn't have anything that looks remotely like a cat person, it would be like a cat person walking around in the real world. Dudes gonna get mobbed
>>49341571
You're right. If it was Ravnica, he could pretend to be a strange invention of the Simic, but they don't have bio-tech on Kaladesh. One way or another, I think the Planeswalking secret is out. This shit was so much easier back when planeswalkers could change form at will. Bolas Did Nothing Wrong.

Hey, that's not a bad excuse for a Snowstorm 3 right there. Maybe have it coincide with Kaladesh? I know people have flakes that they would want to carry over, but you could toss all the inactive dead weight guilt-free. And maybe the impossible dream of a new OP collage could become a reality.
What is Godbound? Is a OSR style high fantasy game using simple mechanics to reflect powerful characters that make decisions with lasting consequences. It gets compared to Exalted, but it's more like a TTRPG version of Dominions. If you don't know what that is, you should feel bad about that.
"Godbound is a game of divine heroes in a broken world, men and women who have seized the tools that have slipped from an absent God's hands. Bound by seeming chance to the Words of Creation, these new-forged titans face a world ravaged by the mad ambitions of men and the cruel legacy of human folly."

I'm currently running a Might/Artifice/Endurance godbound through the old Return to the Tomb of Horrors module in 1998, solo, as a 1st-level adventure. There have been some scares, and we haven't quite made it to the Tomb, but we've seen a fuckton of wights, and even more giants.
Anyone got a PDF of the original Tomb? I'll be needing it for my prolonged plans.

Consider importing the defy death rules and free 2 HP healing if you rest 10 minutes after every fight rules from Scarlet Heroes.
Well that's what I plan to do once I run this for my one player. How's the experience of running a classic module for a Godbound? Did you need to do any conversions or sudden improvisation?

Stromlek-pattern Commissar Power Armor (Rough Trader)
Based upon the designs and modifications made by the Lord-Commissar Aron Vaul before the cleansing of the Rak'Gol citadel above Sodon, this pattern of Power Armor is an extremely rare version of the already rare human Power Armor, designed to assist in all of the roles a Commissar must fulfill. Designed to facilitate the role of the Commissar, this black-painted armor maximizes the air of authority and fear a Commissar has on the battlefield, making a walking avatar of Imperial authority and power to the Guardsmen fighting alongside him. The refractor field is designed to resemble the collar of the traditional Commissar overcoat, and a long black-and-red cape hangs along his back to imbue even more grandeur in his proud stride. The helm is a silver or gold snarling visage with a peaked crest and brim that resembles the traditional cap of the Commissariat, and is equipped with advanced optics and communication systems. Furthermore, the armor is fitted with impact-gel cushions, making it more resistant to solid rounds and impacts. There are only a scant handful of these suits in existence, as the original was tailor-made to fight in incredibly hostile conditions of a Rak'Gol citadel, but any Lord Commissar who has heard of the suit would pay a hefty fortune to acquire even an incomplete copy of one.
Commissar Power Armor is a suit of Power Armor (Armor 8) with an in-built Laud Hailer*, Vox-Caster, Advanced Helmet Systems, Rebreather (5 Hours oxygen), Refractor Field, Gel-Impact Cushions, and integrated Void-Suit that provides immunity to Radiation and a +20 test to survive the effects of extreme weather while intact. Good versions last 12+d10 hours, while Best versions last indefinitely.
*Laud Hailer: +10 Command to all Imperial or allied servants within 30m.

>How often do trust issues crop up in your games, barring Black Crusade?
Typically pretty rare unless we're playing an intentionally deceptive character like a Wych.
I've lucked out in that most of my group like what we're doing and enjoy the group itself, and even when they don't like a particular aspect of it they're willing to allow others to enjoy it for a while before voicing their dislike for it.Except the time a Lacrymole infiltrated their vessel and began to pose as crew members and even PC's, and they all viewed each other with incredible suspicion and nearly killed one another multiple times

Seriously, a half-wild squirrel could do this. I'm sure your party can manage.

No thank you. I'd much rather go fight a beholder naked and unarmed. Unless I'm playing a monk, in which case I'll put on full plate armor and pick up a sword for the first time in my life.
