Hey /tg/, tell me about your custom chapters. Tell me anything, tell me everything, tell me only like 2 things, tell me as much as you want.
How were they formed? What's their equipment like? Does their emblem mean anything?
Fuck, they don't even gotta be Space Marines. You got any cool guardsmen regiments? Maybe you came up with some weird breed of genestealer? Exactly how green is your Ork clan?
I wanna hear about your cool shit.

I only have a single kitbashed Iron Sage and and a single devestator squad for these guys. I was working on them until bipolar fucked me in the ass with a major depressive episode about a year ago and I haven't painted since. Maybe someday I'll get back into it, especially since these Blood Angel tacticals (for another chapter, which I can also share if you like this one) have been half-finished for a year.
Did Wizards do a good job with 5e?
What are your thoughts on the system?
It didn't fix all my problems with 3x and 4e, but assuming no splat books for either, I'd take 5e over both of those. I'm -still- bugged that they can't get arms and armor correctly named.
With splats I'm still using 3x/Pathfinder, but only because I'm /tg/'s hated enemy and like weird characters.
I know Wizoids are still the master race but are fightans at least useful to lug around at higher levels?
>>49339185
Level advancement doesn't do nearly as much as it did in older editions. Feats are more scarce, spells don't do as much(IIRC, splats may change this) and high level PCs and Monsters aren't that much stronger than low level PCs, so the difference between an overpowered character and an underpowered one is probably like a magical item or two.
What are some of the dumbest hijinks your party has been involved in, /tg/?
There was a magical forcefield of psychic "fuck you" that would repel us with horrific visions.
We came up with a plan for one of us to push the other through with a pole
Needed to hide our identities. We knew that no matter what, we would be unable to make a disguise that wouldn't be immediately noticed as fake - didn't have nearly enough relevant experience, nor contacts to do it for us.
So we disguised ourselves as... ourselves. Figuring that our opponents would think "only absolute madmen would disguise themselves as themselves".
After an extensive firefight and collateral damage, we're now widely known as absolute madmen.
>playing Only War
>Vostroyan Firstborn doing training excersizes in the bowels of a cruiser
>Fireteam of 4 PCs (Sergeant, 2 Weap. Specialists, and a Psyker)
>get seperated almost immediately
>One of the Weapon Specialists gets his legs blown off when a combat servitor's ammo cooks off right next to him
>Psyker rolls doubles, rolls a 90 and then a 33, and blinks out of existence for 9 rounds
>Other weapon specialist discovered he was a latent psyker when he accidentally summoned a potato out of the warp (Joke roll that ended up landing on a 1)
>All this happened in a 20-minute training excersize against servitors with rubber bullets
I am deeply concerned as to what will happen when they enter actual combat
Let's talk about gameplay and story segregation. Not just Yugioh, but I'm using it as an example because its the game I'm most familiar with. Look at pic related. It's a fucking dragon monster that's bigger than a city. It loses to elfs, a super spy, and a fucking frog.
>>49343434
Here's the fuckign frog
>>49343434
Your repeating digits (and a general interest in the concept) inspires me to contribute
Okay, so it's a giant thing (actually that's a hell of a lot of stars for something with 1800 atk iirc...), but maybe it's so big and cumbersome it's ability to attack is low - I see it's in water, maybe it's fuckheavy?
Sure, it's hard to kill at 3k def, but if it's attacking then it's vulnerable to frog's poison or a well placed shot by a spy or an elf
What's the effect? I don't read moonrunes and I haven't Yu-gi-oh'd for a decade.
.
One game I do think handles most gameplay/story segregation pretty well is Android: Netrunner - other than a few odd things, most interactions and costs make sense in the game.
One of my favourite in that regard is a card where one player (the hacker) steals a load of money from the other (who represents part of a mega corp) - for every piece of money the hacker gets from the corp, they get two pieces - to represent the fact that the corp's money represents large liquidities, investments and resources - to a megacorporation a million dollars might be as valuable as a hundred dollars is to the hacker, and so on.
On the other hand a burner phone costs as much as a hover-motorbike, but I suppose it could be a crate of burner phones

You should have made the magic carpet have Poe's face.
Alright so I got my hands on an ARC as prize support. My friend got his hands on some Gencon Scum ships, so we played a nice little Wave 9 game 10 days early.
Our lists, which were pretty much built to experiment rather than be top tier:
Norra: PtL, R2D2, Tail Gunner, Title, Vector Thrusters
Wes Janson: VI, R3 astro, Seismic Torps, Integrated
Biggs: R4-D6, Integrated
Ventress: Adaptability, Tactician, Gyros, Title
Old Teroch: Fearlessness, Title, Autothrusters
G-3A PS3- FCS, Zuckuss
Some thoughts:
-Norra is good. Really good. She hits like a truck when she can, and can be super tanky as well. The versatility of her ability is great, and she's an endgame monster. Getting her there might be a problem though, hence Biggs.
-R3 astro was, not as horrible as I'd thought. Certainly nothing I'd say was really good, but I used it multiple times when I didn't have a focus, and it kept Wes from taking some damage. Also Wes isn't really there to hurt things, more strip tokens, so a little loss of firepower from him wasn't quite so noticeable. Still think it's a poorly designed card.
-Old Teroch is goddamn hilarious, and is going to shut down so many aces. He pretty much kept me from using Norra's ability all game. Also the Fearlessness/Title combo is quite good. Kept the pain going and also kept Teroch alive one turn longer than normal, working fantastically when everyone bumped one turn. The 2-Talon roll is also pretty sweet, and the combo makes it work.
-Ventress is probably the new meta. I ended up killing his Shadowcaster pretty quickly because his green dice hated him, but the two turns he got were scary. The stress ability might be overpowered, we'll see. At least she's PS6. Also that title, scary as fuck. Didn't even properly think about it before, but like the TIE/D with TB, any ship that hands out TB tokens without nerfing their own damage is a force to be reckoned with.
Dark greetings, /swg/! What awesome power would you bestow upon Trioculus, heir of the Empire?

Welcome to the Wormverse, specifically, Earth Bet, here on this version of earth, things are pretty messed up: People have superpowers, most of those people are villains, the government is corrupt in a thousand different ways (though that's nothing new) and to top it off you have at least three different Kaiju running around fucking shit up.
Yeah, things are bad here on Earth Bet.

So, lately I have been getting tired of this munchkin player's shenanigans in my campaign, he does everything in his power to milk as much power as he can for his Eldritch Knight (we're playing 5e), and that means abusing the fuck out of the Long Resting rules. The first 3-4 sessions of Phandelver there were absolutely NO short rests chosen by the players, and when they got to thegoblin cavesthey wanted to rest outside of the cave. I rolled on a table for that, they won, but it was when they decided to rest INSIDE of thecaveI said fuck that and had 25 goblins come at the party trapping them with their dead leader. The Dragonborn quickly grabbed the head of the leader while the powergamer got ready to fight, and roared (Intimidation, rolled a nat 20), and scared them the fuck off. I was pleased...that is, until the part got back toPhandalinand stayed at the inn. EK player did some carousing, won a FUCK TON of gold, and his pas percep was so low he didn't noticed how pissed all these losers were that he won this much money. So in the middle of the night he gets attacked (which interrupts his long rest abuse), then he gets mad after the fight saying "well I long rest anyway" so here's where the dick part comes in, because that's where that session ended:
THE NEXT SESSION, half the game, I have all these quests and objectives for the REST of the party, while the powergamer sits out "long resting." He kept fucking whining "just speed up time" and I'm like "no, you're resting, you want the full requirements fulfilled for a long rest you got it." I even had an npc he pissed off (mother) for telling her teenage son he could come kill bandits with him, bashing his door so she could kick his ass...and he still stayed asleep, bitching while the other players were doing shit and getting xp.
So my question to you is: was I being a dick?
>>49347681
also pic unrelated
>>49347681
Yes, you were. You were being passive aggressive instead of directly confronting him about his powergaming behavior. Try instead to start from scratch, admit to taking the wrong approach to a real problem, then reason with him as to how this is a collaborative experience and his trying to exploit the rules for his benefit is creating a toxic climate that sucks the fun out of the game.
If you already went through these steps, then you were well within your right to teach him a lesson.
I'm with this guy >>49347770
Also remember that characters can only benefit from a long rest once per day. If I needed to set it in stone, I'd say they need to go at about 16 hours between long rests.

Did you panic buy any Games Workshop property FFG games yesterday?
Are there any you didn't, but now wish you had?
Do you think we'll mostly see Star Wars/Lord of the Rings rethemes, or Descent/Twilight Imperium rethemes?

Going to ask again since no one mentioned it in the last thread. Is buying Table Top Simulator worth it and is there a community to meet online for it?
Read the map, then

We're not using dice for this game, as I was too lazy to put it in the rules.

Which class is the best class, and why is it entirely relative?
>>49338643
>Which class is the best class
Paladin
>and why is it entirely relative?
Because all forms of entertainment, which D&D falls under the umbrella of, are completely subjective.
Even "bad" things have people that enjoy them, and many people enjoy the same thing for almost completely different reasons.
This is especially true in D&D, where much of the entertainment value is fueled entirely by individual imaginations rather then hard rules.

It's relative because as long as you meet a certain baseline, you're pretty much set for combat encounters. Everything else isfun.
