Do you use miniatures for your RPGs?
I've mostly been using tokens with letters and symbols on them, but I'm starting to appreciate putting miniatures together and painting them more and more thanks to 40K.
I get the impression that I've missed the boat by a few decades as far as affordable sets of versatile minis are concerned. Almost everything I find represents a specific Original Character from some company's Original Game.
I just want to be able to buy sets with some swordsmen, some archers, some magic users, and so on. A collection of different goblins or orcs, maybe a bag of commoners and barnyard animals...
Iron age to medieval-themed wargames have some nice models to offer, but they lack a bit of variety.
What would you recommend? Tips from European anons would be especially appreciated (UK/Benelux/Germany).
Sometimes. It would limit the things I can throw at my players if I did it all the time. If my party is suddenly jumped by a dozen koala-men I don't want to grind the game to a halt just because I don't have the figures for it. That said you can use most fantasy miniatures in RPGs. I use a lot of Mantic and Malifaux stuff.

Reaper Bones are the way to go, that's what I use. Especially Goblins (pathfinder goblins are my preference) and Kobolds as they come in fairly large "bundles". They are cheap but good quality for the money.
I use paper mini's because I am poor. I'm putting together a fallout game for my friends so I pulled the characters out of that mobile game fallout shelter. I think they turned out pretty good.

Have some Phobs art.
Personally, Finrod was my favorite Noldor king because he seemed so unambiguously, indisputably decent.
Last thread brought out a lot of interesting and cool stories, lets do it again!
Don't be shy, share stories about Your Dudes, /tg/. 40k, fantasy, whatever.
I'm going to start myself, repeating story of Moon Burnaz, an ork warband from previous thread.
Their homeplanet was Miren II, a devastated imperial world. Long time ago, passing ork Waagh smashed through it's defences got all the loot they could and continued onwards. It is a shithole of Gorka Morka level.
However, things got violent(more than usual) once system's star started to expand for unknown reason burning nearby planets. Average planet's temperature rose by 15-20 degrees all across the globe, turning most of the planet into desert wasteland in a matter of few weeks. Human slaves rebelled, all kinds of scum and mutants poured out from caves and all ork clanz and tribes went to their desperate Waagh - this wall of bodies charged towards the only hope of salvation - Bitsloot junkyard town. It was the only ork stronghold capable of constructing a spaceship.
Future Moon Burnas crushed all of their opposition on their way there and stroke a deal with Junkyard Big Mek - gather all the bits `n scrap for the ship for a promise of ticket out of this hellhole. During their survival Moon Burnas learned the value of looting, and tactics, since charging head-on in open wasteland was often a suicide. But most importantly, they've learned that you sometimes you don't always need to hit hard, just hit where it hurts the most.
Blitsloot Big mek decided not to hold his end of the bargain and threw Moon Burnas out, expecting walls to hold against direct assault while finishing his spacecraft. Moon Burnas have infiltrated the city instead, killed the Mek and sabotaged the only source of water Blitsloot had. After a matter of days surviving meks opened the gate themselves. Of course, not every ork who was building a spacecraft while beeing in sight of dakkaguns got to ride it in the end.
As the small ork ship escaped dying planet, Moon Burnas have realised how big the universe is - but most importantly a good fight on Miren II was nothing compared to possibilities ahead.
>>51235273
Moon Burnas is an ork clan that makes use of guerilla tactics and looting equipment. Clan has a large ammount of meks, however meks are treated as slaves and only most talented(and strongest) ones get to be treated as equals to normal boys and nobs. Clan makes excessive use of flamers, realising that if galaxy tried to burn them to a crisp, they should return the favour. Whatever a Moon Burner can't take to his crooza, he will burn to ashes, just not to allow enemy to get a hand on his loot
>If I'z can't `ave it, den zog it, why should you `ave it?
My klan was a waagh united by ghazghkull. They however, were lost thanks to warpfuckery in a space hulk.
They found out it contained classical cars.
They are orcs. They kustomized them.
And that is why the majority of the vehicles in this army are made out of mad-max style vehicles.
Forgot the OP edition (again)
>>51233878
What do you mean "forgot"?
>>51234163
It's not there. We forgot it.
Theoretically, what would a Chaotic Lawful alignment look like?
That's not how the alignment system works, frogposter.
>>51232950
Sounds like neutral.
Alternatively, if you insist on trying to come up with an example, maybe like Two-Face or some shit. He strictly leaves things to chance.
How good/bad is 5e compared to previous D&D editions in terms of caster supremacy, specifically in combat?
I know we have a general, but I don't think a thread dedicated to 5e fans is going to be unbiased when it comes to discussing 5e's flaws.
>>51231495
This is still 4chan, we still hate on what we like.
5e Flaws
Caster > Martial at higher levels, but only 5% of games ever get that far
Martials aren't as fun as they were in 4e. Gotta be a Magic user if you want interesting things.
Monks aren't that good, and one of their builds is bad.
Ranger needed a buff, don't know if it came out. (Where are the WoW comparisons?)
It's not 4e.
It's done a lot right, though. To find out, you'll have to ask in the General thread.
Its better than every other edition except for 4e, which nothing beats in regards to balance. Martial characters do so much fucking damage in 5e, especially when they hit 5 and extra attack comes online that a martial character is pretty much never irrelevant. Paladins pretty much fix the bad save math of 5e and make saves saveable, barbarians never die and fighters with action surge can absolutely drop a nuke on enemies.
Casters are limited by less spells and concentration which comes into play a lot more than you might think, and basically nullifies all the stacking of a million op effects and do the martials job better than they do.
It still exists in some degree at higher levels just because theres so many more options for casters, but honestly its the best D&D has ever done without completely changing what D&D is like 4e did.
>>51231495
Better than 3.5
4e remains completely orthogonal: It's a completely different system which permits a completely different level of balance.
It's faster to run and less ridiculous to balance. Martials have been put a step up, while casters have been put a step down. They're still not on the same level, but the fighter can reach up and yank that fucking wizard down if he's got a plan.
Mtg post pre-release.
How did you do?
What did you pull.
I pulled this limited garbage and got stomped. But as expected i guess.
How could you do well with paradoxical engine, madcap and double barals in a creature heavy environment.
Ended up playing UR splash W artifact thing.
Pias revolution surprisingly effective, either get your artifacts back or they get bolted.
Engine was running cold and showed zero love today.
Apparently promo baral is 25$ so that's something at least.
Match 4 was particularly infuriating. Rest were uneventful.

0-2, 0-2, 1-2
Promo was Oath of Ajani. Only decent card was Herald of Anguish and Metalwork Colossus. I tried to make U/B Improvise deck since I had jackshit for removal, even in other color.
Went 2-2 with BR aggro/beat down. Was the first prerelease in a while where I went without my friends. Kinda didn't want to go but I had already pre-registered for it. Could have probably made a better deck but w/e at least I pulled a tezzeret. Highlight of the night was when I almost lost to a person playing mtg for the first time. He played pretty well for a starter.
>tfw you see people playing money cards unsleeved
RIP heart of kiran
I went to a total of three prereleases. One midnight, 11 AM Saturday, and 3 PM Sunday.
For the Midnight one, I did alright, going 2-1, 2-0, 0-2. Promo was Release the Gremlins, and the deck was R/B aggro. Best pull from the night was the Extraplanar Lens masterpiece.
11 AM went amazingly. Promo Rishkar, very strong support for +1/+1 green, splashed blue for the pirate, and black for Fatal Push. Went 2-0, 2-0, 2-1. At that event I was one of two people who pulled a masterpiece, and both were Ornithopters.
Sunday went worst, ended up with 0-2, 2-0, 1-2, 2-0. Promo Consultate Crackdown, which didn't end up in the deck. U/B control, splash red for Shocks and Dark Intimations, which went nicely with Tezzeret. Did not get a masterpiece with that one, but 2/3 ain't bad.

Requesting a stoic, young, rustic adventurer
He has all the equipment on the left on, a box like the one on the right on his back, and carries a lot of potions and scrolls on his person.
His sword is made out of chocolate diamond, encrusted withcandy, and with a flame enchantment. The thing jutting out of the sword is another blade. The size of the sword is up to you. It should also be decently fancy
Despite his sword, I would prefer the rest of him be sort of plain and utilitarian. Everything he wears that isn't his clothes underneath is loot, so it may be a little battered.

"Why do you fight?"
To find that answer.
"To win the war."
The better question should be: "What is worth fighting for."
Hello all, how did you guys do at fnm? Did you lose to the fags still trying to squeeze their last bit of enjoyment out of their dredge decks? I for one went 4-0 with kiki chord, beating infect, burn, bant eldrazi, and Tron, so I'm quite pleased. Main board magus of the moon is the real deal desu. How did all you guys do? Ever had a romance between a player character and a (initial) villain work out? Always been my dream to pull that off as a DM, but my players aren't exactly the merciful sorts.
