I recently got into Malazan: Books of the Fallen, it's got some damn good worldbuilding, i mean some of the best I've seen.
The characters are abit lacking though, and there is little to no exposition, but stuff just keeps happening and keeps you invested.
Finishing book 2 in a few days, and so far it's been great.

I'm reposting my fighting man advancement.
Does this sound like a good way to advance as you get better as a Fighter? Or is it too simple/boring?

Isn't the whole reason the Cadian gate exists due to the pylons and by extension the planet? It seems like the plan would just close off the Cadian gate and with it the only easy route out of the eye of terror.

Suggestions for improvement? The lighting makes it seem a good deal yellower than it is in reality. More of a tan/beige with copper mane/hair. Thinking maybe a desaturated orange drybrush on the fringes of the mane to help it look a little less flat, or maybe just a wash and then duplicate whatever happens to the mane to the Dogface's hair.

I mean, the models that are there -- removing one Tankhunter and added in a Dog-Soldier -- and using the Spetsnaz Sniper as another Scout Sniper -- is actually one of my go to lists. Kazaks work very well as an elite army, probably moreso than most of other Ariadna factions. I generally stay to a single Combat Group, and don't think I've ever run more than 3 Line Kazaks + Dozer + Doktor in my experience.
We have a cheating Haqq player that borders three fucking combat groups, though, so that's soured everyone's taste on doing anything that gets you compared to him.

Being the prepared guy I am, I've got a pack of hand wipes, so that if anyone's got food they don't have to get crumbs or dust or oil all over the game pieces, it's sitting 2" away from the board, and in full view, he's seen me and one of the other games use them before our turns, and when it comes around to him again does he grab one to clean up? Nope, lil shit stops eating, licks his palm and then sucks all the crap off each individual finger before picking up his pieces, moving them around the board and going right back to his snacking. When his mother came by to collect him she got a full report on teaching her child some manners.

I want to create a setting that's basically the Tang Dynasty in space, but I don't know enough to do it justice. I like the idea of large, open air courts where thirty rows of advisors sit awaiting the word of the emperor and his war minister, but there's also fleets of space ships and the forbidden city takes up a continent. I love ancient Chinese court intrigue and customs, and think it would fit well into a space opera.
I was also thinking of having a class of soldiers called the immortals, who can regenerate at a ridiculous rate thanks to an elixir that is next to impossible to manufacture unless you're a space empire. The immortals can only be killed by getting pierced by a special substance, we'll call it jade, which is also super rare. So immortals will carry around jade bladed weapons to fight each other, but making jade bullets is incredibly expensive and wasteful so nobody bothers. So that's my idea for including wuxia fighting as well
Any other ideas? Unique insights into the Tang Dynasty? Recommended reading or watching? Pictures? All is appreciated

How could we re-vamp Sea Elves, /tg/? Make them more look more alien without making them full-blown extraterrestrials? Also, any ideas for customs, mythologies, etc?
I'd like the ones in my setting to be more than just blue Elves with webbed hands who wear armor and clothes made out of coral/seaweed. That in itself is neat, but I think it's been done nearly to death by now.
