They have a staff of blueshirts who are more specialized and feed them data and on occasion reasoning and hunches for things they're not sure about.

The Science Officer's main job is to process that technical data and convey it to the non-science staff in a way they can understand and having recommendations about what to do based on it.

Here's what I don't understand about the Aeldari thing.
If GW is doing this to protect copyright or something, why not do it back when they made all the imperial armies use thier high gothic names as the official ones? And can't "craftworld eldar" be copyrighted, even though the Tolkien estate owns eldar?

I'm confused as FUCK.

I'm trying to make a Animist in Runequest 6 for a Glorantha game- I want to make a Kolati shaman. Now this isn't terribly complex- Kolat shamans are rare but not unheard of, and animism, while confusing, is pretty damn cool, given it's focus on powers through spirit bargains and fetishes.

The problem is, first, that you can't start as a Shaman- and that's fair, starting characters aren't all powerful of course, but you can start as a Spirit Worshiper, the tier below Shaman. You can still bargain, bind, and see spirits, and can use fetishes, so while you can't go into the Spirit World, have a spirit pull out an enemy's soul, beat him up, bind him into a spirit and possess his body quite yet, you can still do most of the good stuff.

Buut- the book doesn't tell you what magic you start with. Now, it mentions a lot of stuff about magic, but every other tradition starts with spells dependent on their magic skill- Animism mentions nothing of the sort. No starting with fetishes, nothing. But, it's implied.

So, can anyone more versed in the rules help me by telling me if I am meant to start with spirits/fetishes, or if I'm going to have to dedicate in game time and experience rolls to getting access to magic unlike all other magic users?

Also Kolat is pretty boss. I am looking forward to finding the Wind Within Me. I've had to make a spirit tradition up for him, since he doesn't have one in the Glorantha Cult One Pagers, but oh well. I figure he's got Ancestor, Elemental (Air, Earth, Fire, Darkness), Nature (more accurate Air spirits doing the same thing) and Guardian spirits available as allies so far, and Fetches at Shaman level.

I want to get this guy done, because this is the third character I've made so far, and I'm a bit done with it. (Arkati Sorcerer Zorak Zorani, dropped for being too offensive to fellow Orlanthi, Yinkini God Talker, maybe kept maybe dropped, neat concept but not magic enough for me)

The former. I'm tired as fuck, so that might be why you think I'm shilling, but nope, I don't give a fuck if you spend money or whatever, I just want an answer to my question or some discussion maybe. Maybe about Runequest, maybe about Glorantha, I'm not picky here.

Given that the system has split in two, I dunno who you'd even give money to? I mean, I had to search through so many old /tg/ archives to find the pdfs I needed for a lot of the backstory and setting stuff. Thank fuck for /tg/ archives.

I'm just a retard trying to figure out if I get some shiny fetish magic at chargen or if I've got to invest time and XP into doing it in play to get any, which would kinda suck since I got the impression from the GM that we'd be pretty busy.

If i wanted to paint something like this, would it be better to paint the red first, or to paint the white and then try to paint the red around it.

Do the red first, doesn't matter if you get stuff on where the white goes, just make sure to totally finish it.

Then put down the white, you'll want to go base Celestra Grey/ Layer Ulthuan Grey/ Highlight White Scar. It'll give it a much better look overall, you'll notice most of 'eavy metals whites follow the same pattern

Any games out their built around fighting big-ass monsters?
Maybe not like colossal-huge, but between 10-40 meters; 40 being like the biggest of the big.

Thematically something between Monster Hunter and SotC, where you're ducking around big sweeping blows, and/or climbing up on it's back to try and stab it between some joints or something.

I was just talking about this the other day. I had a shadowrun play in an expanded kabukicho setting. An asian dystopian cyberpunk redlight district. And only one guy decided to use the greatest weapon ever made.

Grim, dark, dungeon-crawling systems. Morale system. Traps that cut off your legs, not simply deal 1d6 damage.

What does /tg/ use? I've had a lot of OSR systems (like LotFP) recommended to me, but they never quite felt appropriate. What's recommended?

OSR systems are pretty much that. I have only played a few, however; if you like to branch out a bit (not too much) DCC has some interesting and lethal stuff in it. There are so called "funnel adventures" that are literal meatgrinders for level 0 characters to rise up and earn their first levels (it sounds silly, and it sort of is, but that's old school for you).

I don't want to recommend stuff without knowing what your preferences are, so what is it that you are missing from OSR?

Race-classes. Armor Class as a mechanic. Fighter-Mage-Thief-Cleric treated practically as sacred cows.

Where's my system where the starting classes/race-classes are Water Elemental, Druid, Ogre Rider, Golem and Shapeshifter?

But that's for another day.

Honestly, ORE seems to mostly suit what I'm going for, but I've only read Nemesis. LotFP and ACKS look great for their style of fantasy, but I wouldn't know where to start adapting them for a setting without typical arcane/divine magic limits..
