Welcome to the thread for d20 station, a rules light, medium RP Space Station 13 server.
>What is Space Station 13?
It's a 2D top down atmospherics simulator with who dun it gameplay layered on top. Each crew member aboard the station has a specific job to perform, while a select few are selected to be traitors (assassin/spy/thief).
>Why is this on muh /tg/?
d20 is a server made for fa/tg/uys by fa/tg/uys
>How do I play?
You'll need to download the BYOND client.
BYOND Download link: http://www.byond.com/download/
A BYOND account is HIGHLY recommended
To connect: Open BYOND, click the gear in the upper right. Click "Open Location" and paste in the IP below (Visual guide: http://i.imgur.com/d9D82fK.jpg).
byond://76.16.8.127:28014 OR byond://d20station.ddns.net:28014
>I'm new, and I don't know what the fuck to do. How do I swap hands?
Use OOC (backspace say" in the bottom, type OOC and hit enter, or: http://i.imgur.com/RodAGGZ.png), which means Out Of Character chat, and ask someone for help on how to play. People will almost always help you get a grip of the game if you're polite about it, just don't reveal too much in-round information in OOC.
There's also wikis dedicated to documenting the spaceman way of life, but they vary widely from server to server.
>What are the rules?
The rules are very relaxed and admins try to take a hands-off approach to administrating. Admins will generally only intervene if someone is explicitly playing to ruin the game. Reminder to read the rules in-game.
>What map/code do you run?
We run a heavily modified Ministation map with mostly custom code. Most jobs on Ministation are merged with similar counterparts and head roles have been re-enabled.
>When does everyone play?
The server is mostly populated with Americlaps, so peak times are usually between 7pm-3am EST
>Who are these tripfags?
Usually admins/coders for the server.
Miscellaneous links pastebin (updated): http://pastebin.com/5jJ6E75M
Links updated and serb is online.
I will continue the greentext of d20 tomorrow.
Please keep the thread alive with stories, antics, gimmick ideas, suggestions, profess your love for dead spacemen, or just meme. It's all cool, baby.

i know erp is not allowed but is flirting allowed?not that i want to or anything just asking for a friend haha
Merry Christmas, folks. This is Mr. Blue Sky, lead developer for VeloCITY: The Wind in Your Hair, the Jet Set Radio-inspired homebrew about flying through the air with the greatest of ease, turning anything you see into a flying trapeze.
https://1d4chan.org/wiki/VeloCITY
Hope you guys are enjoying your holiday break. I don't have a new update this month, and you can credit that to last month's update. I'm reposting it here for those who may have missed the big update to the game, as it's a monster of a change. Version 1.3 has the most substantial changes to the rules yet, so I want to make sure everyone is on the same page. To recap, here's the short version of the big core change, which has rammifications across the entire document:
>Strength, Agility, Balance and Grit are now known as movement stats and are directly tied and synchronized to their respective core stat (Body, Speed, Mind, and Soul respectively). Upgrading the core stat automatically upgrades the movement stat.
>With the new substat vacancies, there are four new substats to take their place.
>>BODY - Resilience: The damage resistance stat, separate from Stamina
>>BODY - Brawl: The dedicated melee to-hit stat, separate from Coordination
>>SPEED - Stealth: Self-explanatory
>>SPEED - Larceny: Less-than-legal skills, like breaking-and-entering, pickpocketing, sleight-of-hand, etc.
On top of the change above, other changes have been made to both reflect the new statline and to make the rules cleaner and more specific overall.
There was another thread around here talking about a tabletop adaptation of Warframe (>>50851091), and a mod of VeloCITY was one of the most talked-about options, since it's been done in the past. For those who are curious about the system, here is your opportunity to learn all you want about it. Any characters, stories, logs, suggestions, questions, or mods to the game are all welcome. Enjoy the game, and happy holidays!
And I post this after realizing there were a couple errant mentions of Stamina where Resilience should be. I'll make sure that's properly in order for the next update.
For the record, in mentioning that Warframe thread in the OP, this is how one anon described how they modded VeloCITY to handle Warframe, a video game about biomechanical space super ninjas who are warrior-monks and one-man armies of destruction across the solar system. Note that this game was run a couple years ago, so it doesn't fully reflect the current rules, although you can still apply everything here.
>Assuming you mean how we used the system. Blue Sky was also skeptical when I said the system worked pretty much as-is.
>The stats pretty much cover everything a Tenno would need, except for computers and hacking. We ended up rolling it into Acumen, because as it's presented by the game it's a rapid-paced puzzle, and we weren't sure much how to use it otherwise. Still not sure about the validity of that from a balance/design point of view.
>For Movement and stuff like that, rather than giving Tenno ridiculous numbers and risk breaking the system, we gave everyone else really low numbers, and just accepted in our mental pictures that the scale was simply different.
>Finally, where guns are concerned, on page 61 it says:
>>(except for guns and the like – those attacks not influenced directly by stats will have a flat result value attached to them instead of a stat to roll)
>Sooo we just statted out the guns everyone built against a baseline damage (which we typically gave to the enemies). And then as it says in Equipment you just give them Perks and Penalties, like a machine gun having really low damage but every consecutive round it ramps up significantly.
>>50901132
Yo, quoted anon here with a little bit of an aside I wish I mentioned earlier.
I checked the new rulebook, and it's page 39 now, not 61. My book, obviously, was old.
Anyway, Blue Sky, is there a page I'm not finding here where you statted out said static-damage weapons like guns? I understand they should probably be fuck-you powerful in the base setting, and as a GM I can always just make it up, but it's useful to have a developer-decided base to work off.
Seriously, I am bewildered by Warpriests. They seem to be worse at casting than Clerics, worse at fighting than Fighters, and less good at splitting their focus on those two than Paladins.
Their 'Favored Weapon Damage Progression" is a lot like a Monk's damage progression, except Monks get Flurry of Blows as a lame bonus, and can't USE weapons like Great Axes and Scythes that deal far more damage than 1d6.
Meanwhile, their 'Blessings' are basically a Cleric's domains, except they're insanely focused, provide zero extra spells, and you unlock the upgraded ability at level TEN.
But wait! You also get the Paladin's Divine Weapon power as a swift action ability for a number of rounds per day equal to your level! When paladins can do that whenever they want!
You also get Channel Energy, just like the Paladin and Cleric, further muddying what the hell your class is supposed to be doing! But hey, at least you can use magic to improve your armor for ten rounds per day, because that's totally worth a class feature slot, right?
I just... I don't understand. It's worse than a fighter at fighting, worse than a caster at casting, and worse than a Paladin at BOTH.
>>51282728
Just before full release of the ACG they had full BAB with favored weapons, and they were decently fun. you could buff yourself while fighting with swift action spells so they were kind of like a divine magus focused on self-buffs with some other crap abilities. Now they only get 3/4 bab. Too bad they nerfed them
>>51282728
Probably somebody wanted a character tanker than a priest but not as much as a Cleric or Paladin. Or maybe they forgot Clerics existed entirely and wanted something to fill in the Cleric's role but only had the Priest's statblock to work with.
Between Priests, Warpriests, Clerics, Paladins, and Crusaders you get this fine gradient of caster to fighter ratio. You can also have a whole party of the same archetype without any of them sharing a class!
>>51282822
This explains why someone once told me they were good.
>>51282837
I simply cannot understand why they're this half-caster abomination. Not good at magic AND not good at combat. Knew I should have picked Ninja for this campaign and just taken all the Acrobatics tricks.

We gave serious consideration on the logistics of stuffing a dead Jeremy Irons into our Bag of Holding to get him out of a besieged city.
Halfway through we started doing Christopher Walken impressions and all plot momentum was lost.

>What's the biggest left turn into goofy that your game has taken? Has it been all serious all the time?
Oh, jesus, we got arrested for entering a city that we had been banned from. While we were in our cells, the druid told the guard that he could turn into a dinosaur. The guard said that dinosaurs aren't real and the two of them got into an argument about it. Eventually the bard joined in and told the druid to transform and prove it.... so he did.
And we escaped the city on the back of a fucking dinosaur as guards tried shooting us off of it.
Even in death CADIA STANDS!

Really wasn't a fan of the Mordheim videogame, it was alright at first but then you begin to notice the 'fake difficulty' tactics they employed.
Ended up not forking out for any of the DLC or finishing the storymode.

Me (GM) and my gaming group have been playing only Call Of Cthulhu for longest time and we'd like to start something more combat focused and lighter in tone since horror drags after long campaigns.
>>51279610
I am in the same position.
Just finished HotOE and want something short and more action packed.
We're going to play Pulp Cthulhu which looks very fun. It will keep all the things we like while allowing us to have a more action oriented game.

Wasn't Forgotten Realm's Bane an adventurer originally?
>>51279768
Answered my own question. From the FR wiki:
Like many of the younger gods, Bane was once a mortal human.[26] Little was known about the Black Hand's past, not even precisely when it was he lived, but the adventurer became known when he forged an alliance with two other mortal beings: Bhaal and Myrkul. Together, the three forged a pact of mutual aid and ambition: together they would conquer not just the world, but the heavens, becoming gods unto themselves.
How does one make a Splatoon skirmish game?
>>51279195
Customizable units with weapon/gear choices (no point costs, you get X units depending on format)
All your attacks are AoE. You use those plastic AoE dish things, except they are colored, and thinner/more flexible (bend up to 90 degrees and stay like that), and you leave them on board, possibly covering any previously there. Units standing on their own color get a speed/dodge boost.
Have a mobile app you can use to determine who has more of their color on board by snapping a pic from above.

Friendly reminder that the Legion of the Damned are NOT daemons of the Emperor.
They're infected by a warp disease that's very similar to Nurgle's rot, which makes them very resistant and super-strong but makes them rot away. The reason why they always appear in times of need is because they use the Emperor's tarot all the time to predict where and when they're gonna be needed.
