Yahweh: The good guy. Plans to destroy the universe in 60 years.

TOL: The Other Light. The designated bad guys. Not very good at their job. Plan to get rid of you to reclaim their role. They are run by a council of seven.

Rahab "Ely" LeVey: Natural preacher. Not very effective.

Tsion Ben-Judah: Glorified theologian. Moral guardian of Osaze.

Quinn: Posthuman postergirl. Vain and manic, but good at recruiting and spycraft.

Kat: Desolator. Head in a jar in charge of your nuclear program. Good at cooking and toxin production.

Damien: Another Heavy MEC. Seems happy to no longer have a body. Good at steering a large number of drones all by self. Also good in bed, apparently.

Jeb: First man back in space. Problem: Yahweh has put a water canopy between the Earth and the rest of the universe. Solution: Broke it. Good at engineering and piloting.

Vee: Sonic weapons specialist and Only Sane Woman. Good at research and being the party face.

Jenny: A strange girl with strange ideas about geography. Can eat meat. Helped out your archeology teams. Is not on anyone's side.

The stories, and older members of the order, all speak of a ‘knightly bond’ between members of the brotherhood. You have no idea what that is. There’s the two jackasses taking point, who only joined so they could then skip over to the New Brios National Army, and become a Captain without seeing a single battlefield. Then there’s the two cowards, limping along in the mud behind you. They had their families buy their way past the initial tests. Nothing improves your value on the marriage market, and family’s prestige in Parliament, than having a Knight’s title. Or…at least it used to, now you suppose it’s the easiest way to get a quick bump.

Of course, they probably think just as little of you as you do of them. You could be seen as the backwards relic. The one who thinks that just because his uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather, and so on were all knights, that makes him better than the rest. You hope you aren’t. You hope that you’re a knight who knows how to respond to dangerous situations.

Such as what to do when you come upon a Demonic Tree, in the middle of a clearing in the swamp.

Everyone freezes when you see it. There’s a huge black tree, a tree that can NOT exist in your swamp, rising out of the water and mud. It’s bark is bone white, but you can also see black wood underneath it. This is not a tree. It’s something from Hell. Someone created a Black Gate, opened it, brought something through it, planted it here, and nurtured it so it grew into…this.

You see, on the other side of the clearing, a swamp hut. It’s hard to spot, but you’ve put together a few in your youth. You doubt this one is as innocent as those were. There’s also chains on the door. No idea if that’s to keep something in, or out.

The only way to the hut is to walk around the Tree’s clearing through thicker brush, or to cross the clearing. The only way you’re going to get there quietly, is if you go yourself.

Also, your ‘brothers’ are debating what to do. The general feel of the group is ‘This is over our heads, we should run.’ However, while the Jackasses want to cut and run, the Cowards say that they need to get a bit of a tree to bring back for the Prudens to examine.

Majority vote wins, Minimum 3 votes, 15min time limit for votes once three have been made. In case of ties, votes will be given an opportunity to change votes and new votes will be accepted. If a tie remains, choice will be decided by a die roll. Dice rolls will be d20s, 3 rolls minimum, best roll plays. Unless specified, DC is 15. Crit Success trumps Crit Fail which trumps non-crit Success and Fail.

The day nearly gone, the sun almost completely vanished behind the horizon now. Still no sign of Wong or any kind of message from him. You can talk with anyone in your own vicinity. When you want to speak with a NPC directly, link to the post where OP Roleplayed as the NPC you are talking with. To talk with players that are not close to you, a trained Raven is required.

When you are doing an action follow this:

Based on how high or low the number you got in your post number, you either successfully evaded the bears charge or you got tumbled by the bear. Things like being less equipped or having armor equipped at the time will either increase or decrease the chance of evading. It is up to OP to inform players AFTER they have rolled for an action if their chances were increased or decreased based on their skills or equipments, as to not give the players a choice and to explain why they failed/succeeded. Anything is possible as long as your character can do it.

Four to Six players claim a spot in the game.
