Looking for a journey through a strange land filled with monster girls and magic? Well, you came to the right place! This quest has an emphasis on world building, character-driven narrative and recently combat.

Last time you managed to escape the clutches of siren slavers thanks to Victoria successfully managing to incite a slave riot and killing their leader. There you met Adrian, a boy who like you was sent by Mother into this world to survive three years prior. Your group decided to head to Grand Lake Biwa in order to relax at the beach. Upon arriving, however, you met a dramatic mermaid named Mari who informed you of her people's war with the dreaded shark folk which has lasted 25 years. You decided to help the mermaids end this war and have been working under their Grand General ever since. currently, you are locked in combat with the shark folks' most prestigious general Malygos.

You are covered in cuts, scrapes and even gashes and Malygos is charging in for a decisive strike.

We need to somehow dodge the next attack, but your ability to move has been restricted and he could simply move faster to compensate. You’ll have to throw him off somehow and prepare. You were already kneeling so you simply place your hands on the seafloor emanating some black mana from both hands. You look behind you to Aki and nod at her. You wish you could tell her your plan, but hopefully, she will get the message.

Now time to mess with him. “You know your son was pathetic.” You chuckle. “I remember it clearly, “please don’t kill me, please don’t kill me” after he lost our battle.” Malygos is slowing. You try and make another quick look back to Aki, but you continue nonetheless. “We were going to begin the torture process, but he broke down and told us all about your hideout here before the first finger was broken. What a terrible excuse for a son.” “You will hold your tongue!” He is getting incredibly angry alarmingly fast. Time for the finisher. “The best part about your son though is that after he spilled everything he became so guilty over what might happen to you because of it.” You pause for dramatic effect. “The fool decided to kill himself to spare him from the guilt and shame, how hilarious, hahaha,” Malygos became a blur, voraciously fast, but at the same time reckless. He wasn’t aiming either just trying to hit you until he found the right route to kill.

After a couple close sweeps, he is barrelling toward you straight on. Now is the time for you to strike. You brace for impact and hold. Malygos dives at you and is only inches from your face. However in his bloodlust, he forgot about your death powers. Skeletons from directly underneath him stabbed him in the stomach. “What?” he coughs. He may have stopped but he was moving with enough force to pull through the stopping power of the skeletons and knock into you. Not nearly with enough force to cause significant damage but a few scrapes and you both fall into the bed of the lake.

You and Malygos stand almost in sync. He is clearly injured, but he intends to finish this fight one way or another. He charges again, but without his usual accelerating. At this point, your right arm and leg are shot, and although they will regenerate in time you couldn’t use for a while.

Defend and Counter.

In the late seventies through the early nineties, drug violence in South America only continued to escalate. A successful revolution by the IRA in Ireland encouraged similar revolts in central Africa that devolved into decades-long civil wars, and resulted in a USSR faction in the Russian government. Human trafficking for both the organ and the sex trades exploded between south-east Asia and eastern Europe. In the face of such chaos, government run militaries and various agencies were too caught up in red tape to be effective. Frustrated with procedure causing a lack of results, the wealthier citizens of the world turned to someone who would not be weighed down by the bureaucratic process.

Now, in 2032, the private military industry is a widely accepted fact of life, a necessary evil for the security of the world. While some resent these men for what they represent, still more turn to them when government forces would fail.

You are Jan Kowalski, a Polish special forces operator turned private military contractor. In return for cash and other liquid currency, you, and men like you, go places national militaries refuse, and that local police forces avoid.

“May as well get the lockpick over,” you answer the the man. “I imagine the USB tool is fairly straightforward.”

“Oh, they both are,” replies the surgeon. “But of the two, the lockpick will probably the more complicated.”

You follow him to another edge of the room, to one with several doors of varying locks on them. A young man nervously introduces himself as Alessandro.

“T-the tool in your h-h-hand can do just ab-bout any physical lock in p-p-production,” he stammers. The patience on Torres’ face tells you the stuttering is a common occurance.

He goes on to show you how to open the finger housing the tool, and selecting for a physical lock. You insert it into the keyhole, and in about four seconds, the lock clicks open. The process is repeated for the other locks, and are completed in about the same time.

“The elect-t-tronic locks take longer,” Alessandro explains. “More c-c-combinations. High end ones it m-might not do at all.”

He goes through the process again, and as he said, as the locks got better, it took more time until the tool couldn't open them at all.

You and Torres thank the stuttering techie as you leave, and he stops you about halfway through the room.

“That’s the lockpicking,” he says. “For the USB, you just open what you need, and stick the tool in and use it like you would any flash drive. It opens the same way as the lockpick. Think you need a demonstration?”

This, though did we get told how much memory out finger has?

Even though you have just warned the rest of the camp about the possibility of vampires going crazy around you, and that they may be coming in your direction, Carrera is already wide awake and busy preparing something, quickly but with a collected calm that is quite enviable under pressure.

At some point, even Bryld jolts awake, sitting up and looking around with a blank expression, her bunny ears perking instinctively and turning about, trying to track the source of danger by sound.

Three skeleton warriors come into sight, obeying their mistress' call, and stop as she snaps her fingers with a commanding pose and a manic grin on her face, “Alright folks, they're coming for us, but you've no blood, so just carve into them and hold nothing back. Go for killing blows, we've no time for mercy or quarter”.

Julio is scanning the surroundings while playing with his weapons, a relatively short, slightly curved and single-edged blade, though you see he has at least two daggers of a similar shape on his girdle and a longer sword resting on the other side of his waist. His tricks are kind of bedazzling to watch and the blade flashes oddly bright in the little light there is.

A couple crackling sounds come from near Parvaneh, and you see a couple ethereal, iridescent balls of fire slowly orbiting around her; the light they produce is somewhat eerie but it helps fight against the darkness. Due to her size and movement problems, she still isn't approaching the area where you're camping, even though she looks like she's itching to.

You still can't see Tama anywhere. Hopefully she's still asleep in the relative safety of her cobwebs.

Bryld grabs your arm with understandable apprehension, “What's going on?”, she asks, unsure whether she should keep as quiet as possible or if it's okay to speak normally, giving her voice a very strange tone.

“Vampires”, Carrera explains, making it clear that it's okay to speak normally, “I've set a few more traps around the perimeter, if we ever need to run”, and she points in Parvaneh's direction, “Run that way, anywhere else and you might step where you shouldn't”.

This does nothing to make Bryld feel any better, but she seems to have things under control at least. And did she just say more traps? You guess you were lucky that the two half-elves were there to guide you in the dark, or you might have stepped into one.

There are still way too many trees, and too large, with vines and climbers to further hinder the view even when it's free of cobwebs. The jungle canopy prevents any amount of starlight from passing through, meaning it's pitch black darkness away from the fires.

Even though Julio said it would be unfair if the vampires couldn't see in the dark, you really, really don't want this fight to be fair.

As Karas, Mikahil and Valeriana (especially Valeriana) work their way into their sleeping bags, and just as the final rays of twilight disappear from the sky, you find yourself staring restlessly at the golden-roofed palace.

Sure, you're just passing by. You're in kind of a hurry. You're on your way back to Gem to reclaim your homeland and save your family.

But, in any case, Valeriana's travel spell only works during daylight hours, and now you're here, at the Pinnacle of Mercy. One of the largest functioning shrines in Creation still dedicated to a deity closely associated to the Unconquered Sun: The Golden Lord.

...Are you REALLY going to go to bed quietly, wake up tomorrow at dawn, and leave without even seeing him?

...To be honest, you're not sure what seeing him would accomplish, either. His nation is essentially occupied by the Realm, so you can't exactly talk An-Teng into an alliance or something. And you have a feeling that, for all his lofty station, there's painfully little that the Golden Lord can DO for you.

You've managed to successfully pass yourself for just another traveler, perhaps here to make her case heard to the Golden Lord, the highest judge of the land. Like so many others. If you just wait in line patiently, you'll take forever to get to Gem.

...You're not sure what to do with yourself, at this point.

>If I reveal myself as a Solar Exalted, I will doubtlessly be allowed to meet the Golden Lord.
>Maybe I can talk the guards into letting me through anyway, even at night-time. (s+z)
>The guards don't want to let me through, so the best solution is to sneak in quietly. (p+n)
>Mikahil said that people with white or silver hair are seen as a bad omen here. If I remove my headscarf, it might scare the guards away and let me move freely.
>I'll just wait for morning. We can deal with this after dawn.
>It's not an urgent matter anyway. I'll visit the Golden Lord some other time.
>Tia is still awake. I could ask her for advice.
>I could wake up Karas and ask him for advice.

>Who are we?
Maka, an exiled noble Exalted as a Zenith-caste Solar. Queen of Gem, now ruling the western island of Tianna. You have gathered a vast amount of allies and friends, and defeated every threat to Tianna up to now, though not without difficulty.
You recently discovered that Tianna is actually an artificial island, built around a First Age Titan: an almighty flying fortress. Your forces have crushed the Bodhisattva Anointed by Dark Water, a Deathlord who tried to usurp its power for himself.
And now, on the day of your wedding, the Unconquered Sun Himself appeared to you and crowned you Princess of Creation, asking you to be an example for others in these dark times.
After securing the alliance of the nearby realm of Neck (or Okeanos, as they prefer to be called), you received news from your remote homeland of Gem: Rankar, the man who usurped your throne, holds your father and sister prisoner, and is about to marry her to his own oun in an attempt to solidify and legitimize his power over the city.

The bell rings. It’s like a cold seat waking up for a day you never prepared for. In a flash, you shake yourself loose from the strangeness of the day, and while you thought Becca was going to show you her coworkers, here you are trying your damndest to save a life in a back alley.
And you STILL need groceries.
But now’s not the time or place. You got some shit to handle. You feel your body surge with energy, and things slow down to a halt it feels. Every single second feels like a fuckin’ eternity.

In this clarity of mind, being driven on by those who love you, being fueled by this rage and passion you’ve unlocked, you see this weak chain coming at you. Fuck that. Easy.

COUNTER CROSS USED!

You grab the chain coming right for your ribs, and like a pair of nunchucks in some classic Bruce Lee joint, you wrap it around your arm in an instant. You yank him towards you, all while the second bozo whiffs his chain right under you.

And hits the guy you just pulled.

He’s fucked.

http://vocaroo.com/i/s1hepe5xr4Hu

Time seems to speed up. You see the freshly tripped motherfucker’s face hit concrete. The guy who hit him lost control of his chain and is disarmed. He’s getting ready to bolt, taking steps away from you.
You kick the chained man out of the way, a rough sandpaper skid sound follows.

The big man in the back has a look liked he ain’t goin nowhere, and he’s about to show you why, though he’s so fucking smug he’s just standing there.

You get ready to attack, but then he says something that fucks you up a little.

“You attack me, what’s that make you? Huh? A fuckin’ punk. Go ahead. We get what we want anyway. You OUT OF THE PICTURE.”

This stops you for a moment. You look back and Becca is crying with a pleading look on her face. Amy is standing.

Fuck.

>Fuck that. Fuck him and his stupid face up and get to carving with that knife.
>Finish this shit without a knife. Maybe use it to interrogate later, but we can’t be pinned for shit.
>Bolt. You don’t need to be there. You did what you needed to do and the cops can clean up the rest. Plus Becca and Amy’s not safe.

Suddenly, you are conscious. You do not know how, but you have arisen from ashes to become human. Standing before you is the grand one himself, YHVH. He opens his mouth, and speaks:

You find yourself standing in a desolate field, filled with fog and lit only by a dim moonlight. You're realize that you're completely naked, and are overcome with a deep sense of dread.

Something is coming for you. You start running, as fast as you can. Wildly, savagely, you claw your way through the tall grass, running on pure instinct and adrenaline, driven entirely by impulse, like a cornered animal.

You reach a cliff, and you can't even see land below. With no other option, you turn to face whatever's been chasing you...

You wake up in a cold sweat. The air in your cramped apartment is stale and warm, despite the lazy rotation of your ceiling fan.

A quick check confirms that you're clothed, at least in the day-old cheap lingerie you typically sleep in. You wipe the sweat from your brow and back yourself up against the cold, metal frame of your dingy bed, still reeling from whatever nightmare had possessed you. Your head hurts like a sonofabitch. A glance over at your alarm clock indicates that it's presently 3:26 AM. You groan, and get up to relieve yourself in the bathroom.

You can hear a roach scurrying away as you flick on the light. You take a moment to look at yourself in the mirror.

Your silver hair is frazzled and damp, your sickly pale skin is flushed, and your pupils are dilated to shit. Then that same scene on the cliff flashes in front of your eyes and your head starts burning red hot, and you reel back from the mirror and slip on the bathroom rug. Luckily the room isn't that big, so you only have enough space to hit your head on the wall behind you and slide down into the shower/tub.

You retch, and immediately vomit the meager contents of your stomach into the bathtub. You groan, pitifully, and cry a bit, then loudly exclaim, "Fuck!"

You hear a dog start barking, through the window, and slam your fist into one of the clean bits of the tub floor. The pain in your head has receded from burning, sharp intensity to a dull kind of static. "What in the fuck is this?" you angrily think to yourself.

After a few moments of truly pathetic languishing in the tub, you pull yourself out and sigh as you confirm that your panties are now stained with vomit. You discard them in the hamper and relieve yourself, then head back into your studio apartment.

"Could be Eduardo selling me bad shit again," you think, as you fish through your dresser for clean panties. No luck on that front, but opt to you settle for a pair not covered in vomit. An image of the flashy Puerto Rican drug dealer's smiling face crosses your mind.

For a moment you concentrate on remembering the details of the dream. Nudity, moonlight, an intense fear - a curse? You recall your meeting yesterday with your "friend" and mentor, Quentin. He dispatched you on a "simple book-hunting mission" (his words) that ended in a shootout with some cartel goons. "Might be some bad juju bullshit from that Jamaican bitch," you ponder, as you run your fingers over the fresh scar tissue on your left elbow.

You're not going to be able to sleep for the rest of tonight - that's clear - but before you can decide what your next move is, you need to take stock of yourself.

Your name is Nadia Bisceanu, and you are a second-generation Romanian-American immigrant. You live in Baltimore, Maryland, in a shitty apartment building on the east side. You're kind of addicted to heroin, but it's an on-again-off-again thing. It's currently on. Your rent is three weeks past due and you're technically unemployed. You have no real friends and your formal education ended after high school.

Oh, and you're a mage, one of the Awakened.

But more on that later. First, which of these categories are your best attributes?

You kneel, letting the sonorous prayers of Chaplain Kegrail wash over you. The chant ripples in the still air of the Chapel, resonating amongst the stone pews and against the arched ceilings. Breathing deeply, you think of nothing at all, letting your faith in the Emperor wash through your bones and within the deep spaces of your chest. As the prayer ends, you stand, feeling refreshed. You still do not understand the High Gothic of Kegrail's prayers, but you have learned the rhythms and cadences of the ancient speech.

The gray robes of an Initiate-Brother hang heavily around your massive frame – when you returned from your successful Hunt nearly two years ago, the robes had been loose and ill-fitting. Since then, you've grown by almost two full feet, and put on another two hundred pounds of ceramite and muscle, and now the robes border on being too tight. The geneseed of the Horned Lions have turned you into one of the giants; made you more than mortal. To your left, your comrade Rab stands only a few inches shorter, and to your right, Fraq is shorter than that – his struggles during the implantation process and the Hunt have left him somewhat defensive about his shorter stature. That said, Fraq's temperament has always been too placid to let minor differences bother him. Even in the Underhive, he had tempered Sen and Rab's excitable temperament with careful thought.

You silently file out of the Chapel with your Initiate-Brothers, passing knots of Horned Lions in dark red robes. In the two years since the three of you had completed your Hunts, your training had continued at its rigorous pace, but the nightmare intensity that Scout Sergeant Karlat had pushed on you three before the Hunt had lessened somewhat. By completing the Hunt, you proved your physical worthiness to the Chapter, or so you had learned. The last portion of your Initiate training was mental, tactical, strategic. It was not enough to be the Emperor's blunt instrument, Karlat had repeated to you – He expects an economy of action and thought as well. The Emperor is best served when the enemies of Man are eradicated as swiftly and efficiently as possible, because there are always more waiting for your attention.

ou had kept up with your physical training, of course, but now a substantial portion of your days was spent learning the tactics and means by which a squad of Space Marines could attain victory on and off the battlefield. You studied the Codex Astartes into the late hours of the night, and spent your mornings in weapons and squad drills with your fellow Initiates. Fraq, Rab, and yourself now often joined together with two slightly older Initiate-Brothers of the Horned Lions, together forming a kind of Initiate squad. One was named Larke, who despite his near-silence, would burst into action at the drop of a hat. You had learned to respect his skills as a melee combatant, although he tended to fall into traps easily on the battlefield. The other was named Ultai, and much like Apothecary Fatho or Fraq, had very dark skin. Ultai was a natural commander – his orders were always confident, and to your frustration, usually correct as well. He considered himself squad leader of your group of Initiate-Brothers, and you had to swallow your pride as he ordered you around the training environments. Still, you have learned a large amount from his guidance, his smug demeanor notwithstanding.

>Finial has been training hard in a variety of squad combat situations, roll me a 2d10, best of three for his WS and BS increases
>Finial has also gained some basic Astartes skills from his training: Common Lore (War), Drive Vehicle, Ciphers (Horned Lions Basic Ciphers), Concealment, Tactics (Recon and Stealth), Tracking. These have been added to his character sheet.

Welcome to Banished Quest!
You take the role of a young mage labeled a criminal by his people and cast out into the wider world. In the last thread you finally left Nazir, went looking for supplies in a sand-gypsy market, and got repeatedly flaked out on.

It is currently the 4th of Yuddha, in the year 936 NH.

In the end, you decide to browse the market stalls and their more valuable wares. Whatever it is that draws men into the heavily trafficked tent can surely wait until after you've had the opportunity to look around, and buy the monster in your cloak a few well deserved snacks. It's been too long since you've really interacted with Ricky on any significant level.

However, you face a few significant challenges in getting from the expanse of worn cobbles cutting through the Bhataki camp to the densely packed collections of wood and fabric which surrounds the wagon. Most significant among these challenges is how you could possibly get Zahak through the narrow alleys formed by tents and stalls. He could probably just trample his way through, though that carries the risk of causing serious injury to whatever unfortunate souls happens to be inside the ruined structures at the time.

One alternative is to just have Zahak take flight, and circle the area until such a time as you finish shopping. However, that seems rather unfair to Zahak. He'd probably like a goat just as much as Ricky, and he's been well behaved lately. Chryssa might also be able to somehow clear a path, but knowing Chryssa she would be neither subtle nor gentle in clearing away the tents which stand between your party and the market.

You've been staring at the wagon for quite some time when an idea finally occurs to you. It's enormous, and more importantly it's well built. A solid wooden frame built up around dozens of supports, the leather covering its roof thick and well maintained. Each wagon is built such that the entire tribe could fit inside it should the need arise, and intended as an easily fortified structure in the event of attack by bandits or beast of any sort.

So you'll just have Zahak land on the roof. What could go wrong?

It doesn't take long for you to communicate your plan to your son. He'll take flight, and circle the camp so that he can approach from the wagon's front. He'll need to be careful in landing, because if he misses his mark he could very well tear through the leather covering and crash into the hall below. You're relatively certain that would constitute some sort of insult to the chieftain. If all goes well, and he lands on the small tower at the very peak of the structure, they shouldn't have to worry about Zahak feeling at all excluded. Plus, there's a doorway there which would allow you to feed him his goat.

The only issue with your plan, that you're able to discern, is that some among the Bhataki might be upset by the fact that a dragon has just landed on the roof of what is essentially their only permanent 'home'. The tents and stalls are impermanent structures erected only when the tribe stops for some extended period of time. The wagon serves as the center around which their entire community is organized.

Plus, you don't think the news that there's a dragon in their midst has quite filtered into the interior of the camp quite yet. Those nearest you are certainly aware, a significant crowd has formed at the sides of the road over the last few minutes. There are probably fifty people or more either openly gawking at you or peeking out from behind tent flaps. Nobody seems openly hostile, you assume that someone from the temple was sent to inform them you'd have a dragon with you, but that may change if they think Zahak poses some danger to their chief. Hopefully you can explain it all away before anyone gets hurt.

With one mighty leap, Zahak takes to the air and quickly gains altitude. The sight of your son taking flight draws gasps and screams from the onlookers, but you pay them no mind. Instead you reach out through the brooches to your companions, belatedly realizing you haven't filled them in on your plan. {Zahak is going to circle the camp a few times while we do our shopping, then land atop the wagon once we've finished up in the market.}

Darzi is the only one to voice protest. {I don't know if that's a good idea, Mikhael. Bhataki tend to be rather protective of the Vegana. I mean, how would you feel if a dragon came and landed on the roof of your estate?}

{Well, assuming it wasn't Zahak I'd probably be mildly confused and curious to find out its intentions.} You respond, already beginning to pick your way through the crowded collection of tents. The crowd parts to allow you and yours to pass unmolested, a group of younger woman casting a curious gesture in your direction. Their middle and ring fingers are pinched with the tips of their thumbs, while the little and index finger extend straight upwards, like horns. {Admittedly, I'm probably not the best person to ask that question of. I tend to be a bit more comfortable around dragons than most.}

You see more people making that strange hand gesture as you, with many variations. Some use both hands, others touch the tips of their three pinched fingers to their chest or forehead. One man runs through an elaborate series of gestures, his fingers contorting in ways which to you just seem painful before finally ending with the horned hand. Are they making fun of you? You're not sure if you should be offended, or honored, or how to feel really. Then you recall that Darzi lived with these people for most of her life. {What is that gesture they keep making at us?}

>TL;DR
Your name: Bobby. Your occupation: Cyborg Adventurer. Your goal: return a mysterious letter you found to the Capitol, protect a young bun-orphan, restore your lost dick, and make some some money doing "odd jobs", among other things.
In your adventure so far, you befriended the traveling merchant Luther (who you had to part with some time ago), disintegrated a bandit, hopped on a train and met Maribelle (your current companion), almost decapitated a Super-Warrior, blacked out, was molested (maybe) by a weird doctor, and now you're wandering around this town in search of work before you head to New Green, the big city. You met Papa the grocer (?) who has offered you some work, and that's where we left off on the last thread.

You decided to go check out the deal before you totally agree to anything. Papa smiles, then motions to you to come to the storage shed out back. You leave Maribelle with Louis (Papa's great-grandchild) in the store, then go with Papa to check this out yourself. After removing several large padlocks from the shed's doors, Papa opens the shed and leads you inside to show you his stock. And by "stock", I of course mean 200-something crates of illegal assault weaponry. Papa turns to you.

"Here's your job, sonny. I need you to make sure these here crates get to the city nice and safe. There are lots of kind folks I do business with there, and a lot of folks who would want these guns taken away from them. Normally, I would leave this job up to a family member, but all except one of my children are out doing other errands for me right now, and I would want at least two buns working on this job. That's where you come so in handy. I'll give you 300 BITS if you can smuggle these to where they need to go in New Green. That's the offer, take it or leave it. But, just so you know, if you leave it..."

You feel cold metal press to the side of your head, and only just now notice the bun standing directly to your right.

Papa smiles at you. "...I'm afraid you're going to have to go, sonny."

What do you do?
>(a) Accept the offer.
>(b) Try to negotiate.
>(c) Ask Papa a question.
>(d) Decline the offer.
>(e) Something else...?

You and your small wandering tribe of about 18 members, hear about a wondrous treasure that would grant immortality. After your group getting called completely insane, you and your group begin your quest.

After traveling for the entire day, you set up camp under a large overhang, near a lake. Your group decides to delegate you as "unofficial leader."

>Need names for the group and this unknown person you will be controlling. Also need to know this person's gender, skill they're best at, and an order for your tribe.
