So I have all my paperwork in and have done my due research and plan on starting to carry a pistol every day. I have a 1911 and am very good at using it. I know it is not optimal for CC but I don't have the money for a sub compact so the question is, what tips do you have for carrying a 1911 every day? What position? How should i keep the gun loaded? Hammer down or cocked with a round in the chamber?

>>
if you wear your shirt untucked you can use a nice leather OWB and it will not print if you have a good stiff belt and it cants towards your back. a 1911 is a lot to stuff in your waistband. I use an OWB for my sig P229 and it works fine.

you almost need suspenders to keep your fuggen pants up though die to the weight but you can just snug up your belt. personally a belt that is too tight bugs me and i keep leaning towards a galco shoulder rig but that's just me.
>>
Carried one iwb for several months at 3 o'clock position with a slight tilt towards my front, ie barrel pointing more towards butt. Wear an undershirt tucked between you and the gun/holster for comfort. Wear flannels untucked, no one will ever know
>>
>>31015457
Thats some pretty solid advice. I wear flannels all the time anyway so that works pretty well.

Why weren't anti-submarine shells designed during the war?
Although it's risky to put any ship near an enemy sub, couldn't a 6"-16"+ shell have been manufactured to act like a depth charge? It would just need a depth/pressure fuse to deliver its payload.
Depending on the ship equipped, 4-6 rounds would land around the target at the same time, using only the foward guns.
Pic related, a shell has more then enough force to reach its target depth.
The only issues I find are the threat of long range torpedoes, less ammo availability for surdace combat/AA, and that it would risk large ships.

Because having thin-skinned explosive shells take up valuable magazine space while also being impossible to quickly jettison is fucking stupid.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hedgehog_%28weapon%29
>>
>>31015166

And how would this be better than a depth charge?
>>
>>31015166
the shells would explode on contact with the water .

The guns would not be able to quickly target areas.

And sending a capital ship to sub hunt is like sending your unaccompanied kids over to visit the registered sex offender.

Does anybody ever stare at there gun and imagine the possibilities?

I don't have a firearm yet, but I've got an ar-15 80% that I'm gonna start for a build.

I love thinking about the possibilities, like what if there is an active shooter situation that I'm going to be able to solve? I love that I'll have the power to save lives and be a hero.

What happened to recoil operated rifles? Why does everyone use gas or blowback? Are there any 5.56 or 7.62x39 recoil operated rifles out there?

Are SCARs actually that good or is it just a tacticool meme gun? If I'm looking for a semi-auto survival rifle in 5.56/.223 is it a good option. My first choice right now is a Mini 14, but would it be worth shelling out the extra dough for a 16s?

SCAR's are great guns but they cost way too much. If you want a 5.56 or 223 buy an AR.

This, Scars are great but only worth it if you get a full sized one. There's no point in buying one in 5.56 when you could build at least two ARs for that money.

Hey /k/ I just had a thought about zero-g shooting.

Because we aim and fire guns in an asymmetrical manner, whenever you shoot in space, you'll start rotating. Keep firing bullets, and you'll rotate faster. This makes it harder to aim.

So marksmen in the future will have to:
1) steady themselves after every shot (takes too much time)
2) use only guns from center of mass (looks stupid, can't aim)
or
3) learn to shoot accurately while rotating at any speed (mlg option)

So next time you are practicing your grouping, you should spin a few times to practice for life in space.

Why would we ever have to fight in zero gravity? If anything it would be on planets and onboard ships.

Also even if you center it you still fly backwards. You either have to rig up a complex and likely inefficient stabilizing suit or use a different weapon altogether.

>yfw we literally go back to fighting with swords and bows in space

Wait what would a bow do?
>>
>>31015139
>Wait what would a bow do?

same thing as a gun.
Any projectile will have the same effect.

The problem stands.
