Japan has territorial disputes with Russia, South Korea, China and Taiwan. There's also North Korea with its unpredictable leadership.
Is the SDF up to task? Does Japan need to revise Article 9 of its constitution?
>>31024646
no
and yes
there's a reason why the US has been pushing for them to change it since the 60s
>>31024660
Since when has the US said a single thing about Article 9.
Probably wouldn't be a bad thing if they actually put together a full formal military rather than their current SDF. If China flips shit guess who's getting bent over right after Taiwan?
It'd be nice if they could hold out a bit longer before the US and friends roll in.
I wouldn't worry about the norks. Talk of North Koreans attacking anyone qualifies as "a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing".
How do you guys feel about the M9 going bye bye? Id love to go buy a commercial Beretta 92, I've been wanting one for 4 years and to see the Army, Navy, and Marines in some cases say fuck the M9 saddens me.
I talked with a buddy of mine at work who's in the US army reserves and he said quote
>"The Beretta M9 is an adequate sidearm for combat, however it's outclassed by most sidearms today and we're currently looking for a more modular and better weapons system."
I've know people in the past that love Beretta 92's and they function flawlessly, then there's the veterans who loved their M9's when they work, and then there's vets and current service members who absolutely despise it.
Discuss /k/.
I like the m9 a lot, just ordered one actually
Been proven to shoot 7000 rounds with no stoppages, the military ones have had far more than that and aren't taken care of.
The open top design for the ejection, similar to the vz58, prevents jamming.
Inb4 cracked slides, those were with over pressured ammo out of NATO spec
Just a smexy gun all around.
>>31024641
The M9 has earned a bad rap for several reasons
>Some were Sig fanboys that got butthurt the P226 lost
>Likewise 45/1911 fanboys got butthurt the 1911 went away
>Early slides could crack, although it was rare
>Poor maintenance on M9s
>Poor training on guns
>Sand is not kind to the M9, especially the mags
Go watch some torture tests, the 92 platform performs ridiculously well in many circumstances, although as mentioned, sand can cause it to malfunction.
If you like the 92 then get it. I think it's the best value for a 9mm out there and is decently customizable and very accurate.
The only real valid argument against it is the grip is pretty large. It fits my hand comfortably, but I would say most men under 5'10" (read: manlets) think it's too large.
It's being replaced because the military wants something more modern. They want things like a polymer frame, striker fired, modular grip, threaded barrel, less parts, replaceable sights, pic rail, etc. (no, they didn't specifically mention all those features, but let's not kid ourselves)
Beretta mostly addressed the qualms of the M9 with the M9A3 and proposed it but the military shot it down right away. To me it sounds like they want to move away from the M9 entirely (probably the stigma and gun size), even though going with the M9A3 would be more cost effective-- that's if congress allows them to go to a new handgun in the first place. The need for a new handgun isn't seen as necessary, only special operations tend to even use handguns in the first place, and they tend to use whatever they want anyway if they don't use the M9.

Idk I think I remember reading like some sort of data on what soldiers thought about their weapons like in Iraq and shit vs back home and most of the deployed guys didn't like it too much for reliability and most of the state siders thought it was fine
This was a few years back tho and I have no source so I could be talking out my ass
The British military recently upgraded it's soldiers personal kit (pic related) How do you think other nationas kit compares?

I like the new helmet design
>>31024599
It doesn't seem very A E S T H E T I C but it looks practical at least. I would have gone with a few subdued colours, but obviously full camo is a much better way to not get shot.
They ought to get the rifles replaced, though. SA80 is a piece of crap.
>>31024608
It looks very similar to the helmet used by the U.S airborne but I'd say it has a much more streamlined and destructively British look to it.
What are the best international private security training companies?
Bastion Akademie in South Africa seems pretty decent.

shut up
I know this might be a really stupid debate to some people, but I'm curious to see how people on /k/ feel about this.
Fair note I've had problems with both platforms in the past. I had a Norinco SKS and it had a bolt retaining pin that wouldn't come out no matter what.
Then i owned a RAS-47 and got rid of it. Enough said
>Insert Century can't build their own rifles worth shit comment here
I sold one of my Mosin's the other day for 200 and now i plan on selling my Polish P-64 for another 200, and i plan to save up to either get an original military SKS (From either Soviet Union or China in this case Jianshe 26) or a WASR-10, AK-63D, MAK-90, or an M70AB2.
What should i get /k/? Tell me what i should get, i don't wanna feel fucked over after buying lemons again.
Discuss /k/

I'm new to slav guns, but are those two good guns within their representative families?

sup /k/, I've been making pixel art for a video game mod recently and I would like some criticism of what I've done so far.
pic related is just some practice stuff I've done

I just watched Sicario for the first time a few days ago and I couldn't see Jeffrey Donovan's character without thinking of Vinning.
>A select fire battle rifle chambered in 7.62x51mm. It makes extensive use of alloy and fiberglass to dramatically reduce weight compared to other battle rifles. The inline stock design and muzzle brake help to reduce felt recoil, but the low weight makes automatic fire difficult to control.
Im a German fat fuck that wants to immigrate in the USA.
What are some /k/ approved states?
>>31024185
Why doesnt the German Army use 416/417s?
>>31024185
depends, what do you want to do? what kind of life do you want to lead?
>>31024185
Arizona. No rules.
What're you guys' thoughts on the Boberg XR9/Bond Arms Bullpup?
A bullpup pistol. What a time to be alive.
>>31024174
Looks stupid
>>31024174
The barrel is too small for the overall length of the gun. It makes sense trying to have a shorter barrel on a rifle, not a pistol. Also it looks undergo mimic as fuck, and would be a pain in the ass to draw from concealment. Lastly it looks pretty gay

We're getting old, /k/.

Guys, I can't shoot my P320 or my P226...
The bore axis is way too drastic for me to get back on target. Help /k/.
The bore axis is too much...
Might I suggest a set of these, you limp wristed wimp.
>>31023889
Dude.
It's 4:30 in the morning.
You just had an identical troll thread deleted.
WTF are you doing with your life?
>>31023924
Its literally not 4:30 anywhere in the world at the time of your post
Who would win, /k/?
The Queen's Guards vs. The members of the Secret Service.
Both sides have all the firearms and gear that they're known to use.
>Queen's guard: l85a2. G36, Glock 17, P229, rapiers, bayonets, horses, etc...
>Secret Service: SR-16, M4, P90, P229, Five-Seven, Glock 17, etc...
Which one comes out on top?
Queens guards are only good for playing pretend.
>>31023795
This, they don't even have bullets. Secret service actually protects, queens guards has guards to protect them.
>>31023795
>At any one time, three infantry battalions are posted for public duties; two of these are Guards battalions (one based at Wellington Barracks next to Buckingham Palace and one at Victoria Barracks in Windsor), while the third is a line infantry unit (based at Royal Artillery Barracks, Woolwich). In addition, there are three incremental companies based at Royal Artillery Barracks, Woolwich and Wellington Barracks. All of these units come under the administrative authority of London District—as public duties units, they not only take part in ceremonial, but are also committed to providing military aid to the civilian authorities.
