What is the acceptable number of meme guns to have? Is there too many?
I have 3 moist nuggets, 1 problem solver, and a 500 magnum.
I probably shoot the problem solver a lot more than my other guns because I have it in my tackle box. 500 magnum I want to get rid of but it's one of those guns that you will take a large loss on.

A 9lb rifle in 556 sounds pretty comfy desu. Anyway, if manlets could carry BAR's and Garands through a war I don't think you should have an issue with weight.

Dont get a brass frame. They wear out faster. Probably not much of an issue on an 1858 but the colt navy brass frames they make are shit. if you get steel you can convert it to .45lc too.

Why was the wheellock phased out by the flintlock? Mechanical differences aside, the wheellock seemed to have less drawbacks than the flintlock - accidental firing and the like.

I had an Apex kit that I resold cause I needed emergency money. It's hard to find a barrel or was a year ago. I'm not sure what welding you are planning on doing but the trunnion is welded in. Gun is dope. I wish they had the paratrooper model with folding stock.
