You can only scare up $450 for a firearm that you are going to put your trust in to? Get a Hi-Point and wait a couple of weeks until you can invest in a more dependable firearm.

Buy what you want, if you aren't willing to look past the bottom most tier you are probably never going to carry and are doing to be that guy.

For $450 you could get a shield, holster, and some ammo.

I own a makarov, shield and lcp. All good choices.

If reliability is number one, go makarov and carry IWB.

If you want maximum concealment, go lcp and pocket carry (I recommend the lcp custom, still in your price range, and get a hogue grip and 7 round magazine).

If shootability (probably not a real word but you understand) is number one, go shield and carry iwb.

You can pocket carry the mak or shield, I have, but only with some decent pockets. I don't wear cargo shorts but that would probably be best if you want to pocket carry either of the two.

Overall I recommend the shield, but I carry the lcp most days because it's easiest and I'm lazy.
