All ARs.
/k/, need some help making a choice. Walked into my local fun shop today and saw two rifles I've been interested in for some time but haven't actually seen in person.
First one is a Century arms ak47 m70ab2, brand new. Selling for $800. I've been wanting an ak47 for some time but haven't seen one or shot one yet. I've read reviews on CA ak guns and they seem to be hit or miss? Does anyone have this model that can give first hand experience?
The second is an SKS that's selling for $700. It seems to be Chinese made but with Russian wood stock. No bayonet attacked. Has 0036 printed on stock, mag, and opposite side of ejection port. Guy was telling me if it had received a triangular stamp by the Chinese characters he would be selling it for $1500. Some dudes grandfather passed so he's selling all the guns he inherited and the sks is one of them. I don't know too much about sks's, just interested. Any help would be appreciated.
What would /k/ buy?
Pic related but not sks in shop
I forgot to mention, the shop owner was saying the sks is an honor guard one? How could I verify this?

That's expensive for am sks

>Buy SKS
>Get SAGE CQB Stock for it

Thoughts on the Colt Mustang?
S'alright.

Newfag here. I recently got interested in buying a Finnish mosin variant (M39 or M28/30) and I don't have any knowledge about restoring/cleaning off rust, if I buy one which has rust on it. Do the people of /k/ have any methods/tips&tricks about restoring mosins and is there something I can buy to prevent/remove rust? pic. related, it's a M39.
>>31708831
most people use a weak solution of brake cleaner and chlorine bleach
>>31708861
This, even something like Simple Green will work if you're patient and want to be sure not to damage the finish.
Hell, I've used a raw potato to scrub the rust of of parts before. Seems to work best for things in the white, like bolts and whatnot.
>>31708831
Every rifle ive ever restored:
>complete teardown
>thinner bath to remove cosmo
>scrubascrubascruba
>look for rust
>find rust
>scrubascrubascruba
>scrubascruba
I start with 180 grit sandpaper to remove the worst of it, then move to steel wool for the rest
>find more rust
>scrubascruba
>strip the finish off the stock
>re-blue all the steel
>scrubascruba
>re-blue it all again
>refinish the stock
>reassemble
Done!
Usually while im in there ill do some trigger work too, but dont do that until you're comfortable with it. And i recommend you stay away from power tools.

I haven't really heard much about the C39v2. All I really know is that the RAS-47 is the worst of the two.
C39v2 is passable, from what I've seen. At least, it's not as hilariously shitty as a RAS-47 or any IO. Still, you'd probably be better off finding a WASR or something of that sort. Or hell, just save a couple of hundred dollars up and go get an Arsenal, which you can actually trust to hold up to some proper abuse.
I bought a RAS in April and I'm nearing 2000 rounds, thing is a beast. Not really sure where all the RAS criticism comes from, I watch the videos from AK operators and others and it seems like hyperbole of little problems, like minor deformations and scuffs on the carrier and piston. The rifle has done really well, eats everything I feed it. Red army, brown bear, Tula, monarch, even some old Chinese surplus all just runs very well. Not to mention I get a very nice 1-2 inch group at 110 yards. Considering the c39v2 is supposed to be the better quality rifle, I'm sure it holds up pretty well.
Plan on takin them to the range. What do I need to know/do? Someone told me with the pistol to shoot 5 rounds, clean it, shoot 5, clean a few times. Is this accurate and what else should I be doing fellas?
>>31708422
>Clean a pistol every five rounds
Fucking lol. Is this a troll thread? How much did you pay for all that? Why the fuck are you asking questions after you bought it? Do your research first, anon.
you dont need to clean your pistol every 5 rounds. clean after the range trip if you feel like it.
the one thing you have to do is be safe. know the 4 rules of firearm safety and the range rules as well. thats pretty much it. everything else can be learned as you go along.
>>31708422
>Howdy
Git out.
Also just clean it and then shoot a box or two through it to put it through its paces.
That shot 5 and clean crap is more for high end barrels not some guns your gonna beat up.
>nice sigma btw.

Looking at Kelty, any recommendations on how to carry your equipment around on foot?
Also I am going to get a ChiCom chestrig because you all have them and they seem functional. Unless someone can help me find something that isnt Airshit.

Shit isnt going to hit the fan in your suburban neighborhood.
2 weeks of food and water in your house to wait for the power to come back on without dealing with annoying lines for supplies
Maybe I'm being an idiot here, but...
It seems like it's popular for people to choose a weapon caliber based on what the police carry, or what the military carries, or whatever for purposes of scavenging their ammo...
But if you have the opportunity to scavenge somebody's ammo, isn't it just goddamn likely that their weapon is going to be there, too? So... You could just take their weapons along with the associated ammo?
What I'm getting at is that this is a stupid way to choose your caliber right? Isn't it best to just get what you like best & maintain a reasonable stockpile? I use 5.56 and 9mm, but just for cost, current availability, and efficiency.
Why don't the Russians just buy the J-20 ?
>Better stealth than the pak-fa

pretty sure PAK is better than the chink copy of a F 35
They've could had this perfection
So, me a friend were talking about this the other day.
How would a surprise invasion and occupation of the U.S. mainland by a combined force of Russia and China work?
I was thinking, for logistics reasons, It'd be done via the west coast in order to reduce risks of attacks from European nations.
My friend was thinking it could be done via going over the north pole in order to get to the east coast.
We were both going off of Russia performing the bulk of the initial invasion with China acting as support. This includes holding areas after the Russians have secured it as well as securing supply routes.
What do you guys think?
>>31707887
It wouldn't, we would easily see them coming and neither of them are capable projecting a sizable invasion force.
>>31707921
For the sake of the argument let's say it does happen.
Spend a year shipping Chinese soldiers and gear in shipping containers to Mexico, where they live in storage facilities until invasion day. Of course this would be near impossible to pull off, because you'd have to ship and store a fuck ton of people and gear, then have them law dormant with no leaks, until invasion day. Couple invasion day with all out naval and air attacks by Russian and Chinese forces. The few weeks leading to invasion day would need to be full of Russian special forces going on terror sprees across the nation to fuck up infrastructure and pull attention away from the border, where the Chinese hordes will flow across. And obviously, cyber attacks must accompany everything.
I think all of this is pretty much impossible, so don't count on an invasion, ever
Pic only marginally related.
It's 2019 and the shit has hit the fan. In reaction to passage of the AMERICA Act (dubbed "The Intolerable Act" by its opponents), domestic "insurgence" has exploded. Therefore, Habeus Corpus and Posse Comitatus have been suspended "for the duration of the crisis," Boston-style house-to-house searches nationwide have been catalyzed under "exigent circumstances," dogs and cats living together, mass hysteria.
President Clinton has ordered her Personal Tolerance Guard to destroy any purveyors of Terroristic Hate Speech, and the equipment they are using to broadcast their "pro-Constitution extremism". Reward-driven informer hotlines, broadcast signal triangulation, IP killswitches, CCTV surveillance, and drone strikes are all being used to cut off any message deemed "anti-American" (i.e., pro-American) nearly as soon as it's begun.
How do you reach an audience of any meaningful size - one that's not already committed to your cause - with your message? Pamphleteering? A computer virus that delivers propaganda? Vehicular HAM broadcast? Anonymously distributed USB keys?
I ask, because propaganda is certainly a weapon. Reduce enemy morale, recruit others to your cause, counter the COINTELPRO that's certainly being spread about your beliefs and aims...
Take as example the Rape Lasts 30 Seconds, Murder is Forever prop that so efficiently neutralized the brady bunch for the duration of the previous gun panic. How do you get a message like that out when the State is using tech to shut you down?
Tactics and strategy of the violent aspects of a resistance are pretty well understood. I want to talk about the war for the minds in the same scenario.
