What are some things that people don't really think about in a survival scenario. Things that would make your life A LOT better be it for your survival or in order to trade effectively with others? Example: extra clean socks, drugs, pills, alcohol, porn mags, cigarettes, books etc.
I guess pain pills, prescription opioids, weed, coke, meth, molly, cigarettes, 151 alcohol, water filters and filtration tablets would be good tradable items. What else?

Depending on the situation, I'd always have a set of lockpics and a crowbar on me.
I'd also have a couple of morale items on me, like cards and a few photos of loved ones.

I'm gonna start setting money aside for an AR soon and I need a few ideas of what you guys consider reliable and effective.
I'm not looking for a "starter AR" I'm looking for something a little more high end, something between $1-1500. Something I can keep for many years.
Something mid length, good for defense of home and family against forces both foreign and domestic as well as innawoods fuckery.
I'd like to not be afraid to get it wet is what I'm saying

This ought to be pinned at the top of the board - Colt 6920
There is no comparison. You'll hear arguments but it's just wannabes who can't stand the fat that Colt is superior. There is a reason the United States military keeps buying Colts decade after decade.
I'm looking into buying a Mosin both for my own historical boner and for home defense. Of course I live in California and don't know shit about gun laws, so can anyone pl0x tell me if buying https://www.classicfirearms.com/m91-30-round-receiver-russian-mosin-nagant-rifle-excellent this gun would require anymore than shipping it to a gun shop? It says I need a C&R license but I have no idea how to get one of those lol pls help
>>31705873
>mosin for home defense
I hope you know some good drywallers
>>31705894
The bayonet is for inside.
The bullets are for outside silly goose.
You could get a C&R if you plan on buying lots of old guns and want them shipped directly to your house, or you can just have it shipped to a dealer. You will have to pay a transfer fee, which can vary pretty wildly from dealer to dealer, so call around your area and ask what their fees are.
What is the real point of suppressors?
Now I am aware it kills the flash and does lower the volume but a rifle is still probably going to be around 130Db or so. At this volume you won't have any sneaky beaky call of duty level stealth.
So what is the point in them other than looking tacticool?
What range does a suppressor become viable at?
Why not just get a flash hider?
ear pro messes up my funky fresh hairdo totally worth the tax stamp
>>31705870
Is 130db really considered a safe level?
>>31705878
I'd assume he just uses ear buds with a suppressed rifle.
Deciding on a pistol got it down down to 2 : Glock 41 and P320 .45 full sizes
w/ all modifications and customization's available which should i choose? I dont need specifications just which would i like better for a first (good) pistol and lifetime use ? no glock bias pls (glock 41 not pictured) I have better guns in mine but these are priced better .
Glock 19.
>>31705617
Neither. FNX .45 or go fuck your mother. Don't get a glock you basic bitch.
>>31705617
P320 is hot as shit, I'd fuck it. There are more mods for the glock of course but there are all the mods you need available for the p320. Besides p320 gives you some extra /k/red
Opinions on this guy, /k/?
>>31705473
He is doing gods work by helping bridge the gap between first person shooter interest and interest in firearms
>>31705473
Even if I hated everything else about him, it's very clear he puts a lot of effort into his videos.
>>31705473
Great effort in his videos, what>>31705502 said, builds bridge between the two.
His Cold War gaming was interesting. I like him to review doom 4.
What is the best shotgun for home defense?
870
>>31705428
according to my favorite cartoons from the 30s.
Blunderbuss or 30 inch SxS was usually on the wall/mantle.
Mossberg 590 with a 14 inch barrel
I am a convicted felon in the state of Texas (felony dui). It's been about 6 years since my discharge and I've gone on to get married, work full time, and start a family. I'm interested in purchasing a rifle, shotgun, and handgun solely for home defense. Living pretty close to some really shit parts of Houston. Now my understanding of Texas law is that once five years have passed I may legally own and posess a firearm in my home only for the purpose of self defense. My question is, does this exception extend to handguns and if so, would purchasing one be difficult? Was considering pic related, .40 caliber. My best friend's brother is a police officer and swears by it. Also, what about so called assault rifles? They are very common here and I think nothing would scare the fuck out of a potential dindu like an AK or AR in the face.
First time /k/ poster, just fuck my shit up.

Kill yourself.

lurk moar, become familiar with your state laws
You live in Texas for God's sake.

Tried and failed. Shit is bit better now that I'm sober.
How dangerous are smart bombs? I remember articles about our smart bombs and smart weaponry in the Gulf War, and it's been almost 20 years since then. Presumably they've only gotten smarter over time. What's the danger of the smart weapons getting too smart, and possibly turning on us or betraying us? What prevents a smart bomb from choosing to hit US positions instead of the enemy?
Too obvious
>>31705277
First off: No that is silly.
Secondly: "Smart" means it has the means to correct/guide its flight or glide path to the target within an accurate area. It follows a very simple program to correct its flight path.
>>31705277
the smart bomb is coming from INSIDE THE HOUSE
I'm considering getting SIG MCX, primary reason being the ostensible ease of replacing barrels, among other components. Google says the barrel is the only thing that needs to be replaced to change the caliber from 5.56 to 300 Blackout, but are there any caveats to it?
This makes for interesting reading: http://mygunculture.com/r-i-p-one-ar-15-rifle-another-300-blackout-223-kaboom/
What other things about MCX make you cringe?
Are suppressors for 5.56 and 300 Blackout interchangeable?
>>31705065
....No....What the fuck is wrong with you?
Go look up how suppressors ACTUALLY work.
>>31705048
Omar, is that you?
I've put at least 1000 round through my savage axis and haven't taken the firing pin out to clean it before today. The only reason is I had 2 rounds fail to fire. Not sure if it was light strikes or just poopy American eagle ammo
>>31704937
Hard to say with cheap guns. My Ruger American is hard primer sensitive. It doesn't like hornady and barns primers. Sucks too cause those group best. -.-
>>31705204
I finally cleaned it tonight and the firing pin wasn't as dirty as I expected so maybe it's something else. American eagle fires fine in my ar though
>>31705255
Check the receiver where the bolt locks in for creep. If the bolts backed out a bit it may have thrown off your spacing.
Is an 80% lower a terrible idea for someone who has been shootan many times with family, but never actually owned his own firearm before?
There would be no records tied to my name with gun ownership if I went this route. I do not live in a commie state. I am also not helpless when it comes to using tools and I can follow guides/directions.
>>31704396
There's not much to say, 80 lowers are great if you don't want to go through any Nazi paperwork.
>>31704396
If paperwork is your greatest concern you can probably save alot of time and effort by buying an ar15 from someone on local classifieds.
>>31704396
come january the entire US will be a commie state

SERGEANT? SERGEANT?! WHERE THE FUCK IS THE SERGEANT? IT'S SIR UOU GODDAMN IDIOT!
If we went to war with Russia would the Navy see some action finally? What would be different about ship to ship combat than in WWII? The highest ranked officers on both sides weren't around when proper naval warfare was common, and I was wondering what anyone with knowledge on the subject would think it would play out.
Threadly reminder that yes, s400 and similar systems can hit f35s and similar systems. They can, in theory, turn on their x-band radars and pump enough electricity into the things to acquire locks on stealthed targets at various ranges. This does no, however, mean that by virtue of doing so that said stealth targets(or anything with a radar facing the general direction, really) won't be able to see and respond to the lighthouse of electromagnetic radiation this action creates from signifficantly farther distances. This is based, as I'm sure you all know by now, on the law of inverse returns. In a sense, the entire purpose of stealth aircraft.
>>31703924
A significant portion of the Russian Navy cannot leave port, some of the ships that do will break down and one or two may sink. US ships will kill all sea life with their sonars. Attack submarines will likely sink the rest of the surface fleet and then hunt down the Russian boomers and attackers as fast as possible. If not, swarms of shitty Harpoons will distract the Russian anti-air while the few LRASMs we have sneak in and disable the major combatants.
Then they'll sink to the relatively minimal damage because Russian damage control doctrine will be shit. In it's last dying throes, the Kuz will fire all 12 of its useful missiles randomly in the hopeful direction of US ships which have a 600nmi CAP cone over them thanks to fixed wing AWACS. This doesn't work, of course.
Then the US Navy Tomahawks the fuck out of everything that isn't covered by multiple Pantsirs, Tors and Tunguskas.
>>31704039
>They can, in theory, turn on their x-band radars and pump enough electricity into the things to acquire locks on stealthed targets at various ranges.
Except the S-400 already operates on X-band, and no, you mean VHF but VHF isn't used as an targeting and acquisition radar. VHF will detect stealth planes with little to no effort
T. How Early Warning Radar Works
But no, the S-400 has no such radar that can detect stealth aircraft, the radar does not operate on applicable bandwidths, and even if it did, it would be particularly useless for actually trying to preform a shootdown.
Lee Enfield thread!??
Tfw Enfield's still see use in India quite a bit.
