What's /g/'s opinion on RemixOS?
Have the chinks finally figured out software?
>>55794269
I always thought that it looked interesting, even if android on desktops is just a bad idea
>>55794283
I actually don't think so. For older devices or just as a quick liveboot. Especially for kids or older people that don't need a lot.
how "apt install" works? Isn't that ubuntu-debian command?
Also, remix os is pretty cool idea, it's just a make-up on android-x86, but it looks like windows 10 and it has multiple windows, as soon as they release an installer i'll install it

Is there any disadvantage to having the case fans in close proximity to the cpu-cooler? I'm using a small ITX case with a Noctua NH-D15 and my rear and top exhaust fans almost touch the heat sink of my cooler.
They exhaust hot air, so that seems to work, but I wonder how much they actually contribute to getting hot air out of the entire case instead of just helping the CPU.
>>55794133
should be fine, as long as the CPU cooler is blowing air in the same direction.
>>55794133
No disadvantage as far as the rear exhaust is concerned, but if you have a top fan chances are all it's doing it causing random turbulence.
>>55794133
What case is that? Should be fine as long as the fans are all going in the same direction.
Is it better than VsCode, functionality/plug-ins wise?
??
It has no autocomplete funcionality whatsoever and it just falls behind Sublime because of the flexibility of builds.
hope you fell for the 16gb ram meme so you can run it
what is the best linux distribution for a fairly powerful laptop? (i5, 8 gb ram)
>>55794101
arch, or you're lazy, debian, those are the only two distros worth a damn
>>55794101
Stick mint on it and see if you like it. I put mint on an i3 with 4 gigs of ram and found myself just using it after windows 7 didn't seem to like my ssd. Just running windows 7 virtually in mint and it's never been happier.

arch is too edgy

Why do you not using normal *nix OS?
>>55796300
It gets maintenance upgrades; but yeah, more or less, developement on it is dead.
Still, it allows me access to the Play Store, without me having to transfer shit from my computer each time I want to update something.

As the rise of open source software and linux becomes more prevalent the view of it as a communistic sort of thing will be abandoned and people will realize that sharing information which they can not really profit from keeping is more profitable than hoarding that information knowing it is doomed to die with the company when the company dies. Investors will only want to invest in open source technology because historically there will be a track record of closed source technologies always repeatedly failing when the company dies, whereas open source technologies can tend to live for a very long time. There is also the possibility of an immortal open source technology which continues to be advanced and modified and never actually dies. This is the pipe dream of open source. The ability to create a piece of software which is infinitely repurposeable and lasts till the end of humanity and into the AI age.

Hey I was wondering what's the big deal with Apple TV? Is it any good? I know because it's an apple product it's probably expensive. But what does it do that an ordinary flat screen can't?
For what you're probably going to use it for it's not worth it.
Just get a roku instead
>>55793915
It can actually run apps competently ("Smart" TVs lag like hell), access your iTunes content and play games. If you don't see a use for those things then it is not for you. A Chromecast is a cheap alternative without the bells and whistles. Just streams content from another device (Android, iOS).
>Nvidia's mighty 1060 has consistently higher performance than AMD's puny 480
Is there any reason to even bother with AMD cards ever again? I mean, they lost pretty hard here, the 1060 is clearly the superior card.
>>55793874
probably not. amd can't even get their euro pricing right. the most incompetent company there is right now.
>>55793874
$0.20 has been deposited into your PayPal account.
It's Nvidias job to BTFO AMDrones, which makes it all the more better when all their shilling and bullshittery gets wiped out in seconds by a single card with objectively better performance.
Cant wait for Nvidia to release something to kill AMD's workstation card with "muh 1tb vram!!!"

So, I bought a phone and I'm about 90% sure it's stolen. It's locked, S-ON is set, USB debugging is off, and even google is asking for an account to sync with. The most I've been able to do is change the screen lock.
What's the best way to wipe everything out and jailbreak it? Each method I've read seems to require at least one thing in particular unlocked, but as far as I can tell it's all locked up. Not even a factory wipe helped much.

How do I disable as much privacy-invading shit as I can and make the UI as close to 7 as possible? Please and thanks.
not sure about the privacy. I know there is a few tools out there, but I don't remember what though. There is a Barnacules video about it though. As for the UI, install classic shell.
