Looking to switch to a linux distro now that win10 is removing the all apps from start menu. Yeah there's more to my want to change but the anniversary update has just pushed me over the edge.
Could I get a good distro recomendation? I tried ubuntu years ago, but it was absolute rubbish. I also couldn't figure out wine, but that might've just been because I wasn't that good with computers back then.
Basically what's the most windows linux I can switch to, that's the least painful? Maybe even one with built in, or at least a simple way to run windows software?
Thanks in advance.

Linux Mint is quite painless

I've seen some people mention it before. I'll look into it. Thanks.

Should we celebrate?
Imagine what the world would look like without iPhones.. What would Chinese brands copy?
We should be celebrating, if it hadn't been for the iPhone we'd still be using Nokia shit with physical buttons.

All of it. Nvidia is finished
To you all! The best way to create a secure password is using OpenSSL:openssl rand -base64 128
In this example a password with 128 characters will be created. You can choose any sequence length you want changing the last number ;)
>>55790273
A password you can't remember is useless.
>>55790307
Use a password manager (that isn't fucking Last Pass) you mong
>>55790273
No symbols. Just use keepass and its builtin password generator.
Is there a reason not to get this?

At the price point of 600 dollars without mentioning resolution at all plus the ridiculious thickness/weight/battery hit that your laptop would take, this MIGHT be worth it if you're a businessperson meeting clients to demonstrate tech to them and for absolutely no other reason
Why dont you get one of this instead
I know you're not my personal help line, but I'm wondering if /g/ has any input.
I just got a new phone this week, and for the first time I looked at Google Drive on my OLD phone. There was over 1000 of my old pictures on there from up to 2015 including stuff I deleted on that phone years ago. Freaked me out a bit, I purposefully opted out of cloud auto uploads, but I just deleted it all. For some reason they didn't show up on my pc Drive, even before I deleted them, and I was on the same account. Then I looked on my new phone (same account, but drive on my new phone) and ALL of them were still there. Deleted them again. As pic related, auto upload has been off on my new phone since I got it, but even now 5 screenshots from the last week are on drive. And it's not even all my pictures being uploaded, it just seems to be random ones.
What's worse is they only show up from (any) phone, not the PC. And it says I'm using 50mb on drive (when I look from the computer) but I see no files...
What the fuck do I do? I just want to delete everything on that drive and stop it from uploading.
Drive from my computer. All folders look empty.
Do whatever you can then check tomorrow, it might take some time for them to update

I did this all weeks ago. The "space used" has gone up by like 20mb. But when I had like 1000 pictures on there it said it was using 30mb which is obviously wrong. And the number hasn't gone down after I deleted everything.
Also yes I'm 100% sure I'm on the same account. This is it from either phone I use.
I guess this is /g/ related...
What kind of laptop bags do you guys have? Can you recommend any nice quality ones? I was thinking about getting pic related since it was cheap until I read the horror storys of the should grips snapping off and damaging laptops
I don't have a laptop bag.
A regular backpack works the best
Dont get a laptop bag get a bag with laptop compartement

How's that career in technology coming along /g/?
>>55789983
is he only 27? i assumed he was mid 30s
He needs to stop stressing or something it is making him age
>>55789983
He has tens of thousands in equipment.
That's a real barrier to entry if you want to make money in repair these days.
>>55790032
He started with nothing.
Mac or windows?

Both.

i ocassionally use linux and so enjoy nvidia's high performance linux support but at the same time i don't want to encourage a monopoly by buying nvidia. What do?
I have an AMD 280X currently and am tempted to just go AMD again to encourage competition despite losing out on performance/power consumption/cooling.
>>55789966
My first build. I'm either gonna go with 480 Nitro or say fuck it and get a fury x if I have to wait much longer.

none of this is new except ability to move the masses, but why is other people moving about an issue for you?
We need you to.. uh.. catch Pokemon. That's right, catch Pokemon.
>Nobody understood the lesson of the chinpokomon episode
in other words, will 2050 old people be technological savants.
Did grandma ask you a question about her Hewlett Packard again, NEET?
This is not exclusive to old people. There are younger people who just cannot learn to use technology and it all lies in the learning part.
When learning things, you will find it easier to learn other things at the same time. Like how people learning a foreign language can learn another quickly.
Once you stop learning you will find it hard to learn again.
Old people just havent learnt anything in so long that they stick out as the worst of them all.
Learning new skills becomes increasingly difficult as your brain ages. The neurons just don't want to flip states as readily.
That said, in 2050 a lot of people will be very good at using a desktop. The problem is, the desktop form factor of computing will be long gone and the skill useless and disused. Their grandkids will wonder if they are stupid, too.
I could whip your spring chicken behind at programming a VCR right now but as the skill serves no purpose, you'll never get to marvel at my domination of seemingly arcane buttons on a remote control the size of a sub sandwich.
Ask someone who has just installed windows 7 anything
>>55789790
Is getting Win10 the next step?
>>55789790
why
>>55789790
Windows 10 is literal trash. Install Vista, 8. Or 10 even, still better.
