Why are icucks always so triggered by these objective facts? I mean we get it, you have massive buyer's remorse from the gold colored turd you bought but there's no need to spread FUD about Android phones because of it. It's your problem not ours.
Just accept that iPhones are shit and move on, jeez.
I see more android fanboys sperging out at iphone users.
This is a matter of public record. You cannot deny that android users are much louder and more quick to call iphone users "sheep".
Maybe it's because android users treat their phone as a full time hobby and not as a device for communicating and getting work done.
>>55792368
why do you have so much shit on your phone that you need that much storage
>>55792405
I don't. I have a 128GB microsd card and it's only half full. But it's still nice to be able to easily upgrade storage if I want to someday.
Privacy thread. Discuss hardening and anonymizing your devices. Remember that we're being watched by everything - government, corporations, etc.
Personally, I like using TOR + cryptostorm.is for traffic anonymity.

Pic related.
Any device that you have purchased is already named to you.
Would you get this next year? What could potentially go wrong?
>>55792209
> What could potentially go wrong?
They could again deliver a shit OS with piss poor multitasking support and other huge deficits, on an overpriced device.
And by multitasking I mean the old multitasking that was advertised for Win95 already. The goddamn ability to run arbitrary software in parallel with the OS scheduling them in a fashion that everything werks.

ITT: post your programmer's bookshelf
you DO have physical copies of your books, right?
I've found reading programming books tends to be a horrible distraction from actually producing anything.

How old are you, what do you guys do for a living, and what projects are you working on. Did yall have a formal education in computer science?
I am 30 years of age, I work for the Government of Alberta. I am working on a compiler in my downtime.
What the actual fuck is this supposed to be used for? Rendering? Gaming? Would there be anything that can fully utilize the 1tb of vram on this?
Source: http://m.hexus.net/tech/news/graphics/94948-amd-breaking-memory-barrier-radeon-pro-ssg/

>poo in loo went blue
Rendering. You load your masters onto the SSD on the card, and it doesn't have to slum its way across the PCIe bus, the CPU transport lanes, the memory, and the system memory.
I think it still has conventional VRAM on board, and the SSD is for a high bandwidth gigantic data cache.
Also great for thing like oil deposit simulations and weather prediction.
>>55792139
It has a 1TB on-board ssd, not 1TB of vram.
You can load large files on allowing faster (still a fraction of actual vram speed) access and less overhead
i got a lot of use out of my tablet, would use it for retro gaming and when just hanging out. Recently sold it, and was thinking of getting a surface pro 2 since its able to run the dolphin emulator, and goes for less than $350. At that price though, im not sure if i should just get a laptop instead.

Computer science hasn't advanced at all since the 1960s.
It's a dead field, let it go.
a CS degree today simply means you were taught about huffman trees and maybe learned java at some point.

This. Recommendations from others are way more valuable than a CS degree these days.
Did my graphics card kill itself or what happened here? I clicked the power button and it shut off immediately.
Can you guys help me? What is happening to my TV? It just happened all of a sudden last night
Cheers

It's dead jim
So new TV time then I guess?
Reminds me of a CRT I used to have.
Had to hit it every hour or so to get the colours to go back to normal
so i have tired out a bit of html 5 and python for a bit. but i just dont get it. what do i do. where can i find some easy projects or something that will make my understanding of programming and skills better.

Hey /g/ i'm having a hard decision
Should I buy a Thinkpad p50s or Xiaomi Mi notebook.
I want something to game on while on the go and use it at school. The thinkpad is about $800 for the base model. Xiaomi Mi Notepad is about $750 U.S. The thinkpad, what I like about it is that its has a intel i7 quad core and quadro gpu. The Mi Notebook only has gtx 940mx with 1gb of gddr5 ram but has a pcie ssd.
I also plan to install ElementnaryOS on one of them, depending what im going to buy.

Welcome to /fglt/ - Friendly GNU/Linux Thread.
Users of all levels are welcome to ask questions about GNU/Linux and share their experiences.
*** Please be civil, notice the "Friendly" in every Friendly GNU/Linux Thread. ***
Before asking for help, please check our list of resources[*].
If you would like to try out GNU/Linux you can do one of the following:
0) Install a GNU/Linux distribution of your choice in a Virtual Machine using VirtualBox or other software made for this puporse for safety purposes.
1) Use the Live ISO (if your distribution of choice has one) to boot directly into the GNU/Linux distribution without installing anything, that way, you can get to experience the GNU/Linux operating system without installing it.
2) Dual boot the GNU/Linux distribution of your choice along with Windows or macOS, this is recommended if you want to know more about the GNU/Linux operating system.
3) Go balls deep and replace everything with GNU/Linux.

What's wrong with being tied to home network?
>>55791929
What the fuck do you use laptops for? If you're only going to use it at home, just use a desktop instead.
Alright so im looking for something like pic related, but that actually plugs into your PC and works as extra keys. Im looking for something that has the keys set up in a row though, like a strip or something. I havent found anything except those plug in numpads, but those wouldnt work with the layout i have in mind. Any ideas?
va12m could work
its kinda like a numpad but if you could always think of it as one of those strips if you rotate it sideways??
it plugs into a compo as well but it inputs numbers and im not sure if its programmable
Just get a couple of these.

A macro board?
What does /g/ think of Java?
I think its headed for the shitheap because Oracle have been massive cunts and burned as many bridges as they can find.
The only hope is a move to open source the language/APIs, because Oracle sure as fuck isn't doing its fair share.
Its fine depending on what you are doing. A lot of web app backends are Java
I'm currently planning on working my way through Head First Java. Does anyone have any recommendations for a book or books that would be good to read after that? I already have the Gang of Four Design Patterns book which I seen recommended somewhere.
