Keep in mind that it wont shut up ALL connections, as stated in linked articles and unless you use Enterprise/Edu version, you wont be able to set up telemetry to "security" instead of "basic" (adding dword in registry is not a solution - group policy, if applied, override registry setting).

Some guy told me you can disable it through your modem without preventing security updates, but I don't know how. That would be the best option for me, assuming you can access to your modem firewall (which is not the case if you're on your campus wifi, but you may take your wifi board from your computer and make all connections pass through a custom Raspberry Pi board I guess).

If you're doing your studies I'd suggest you to avoid gaming if you don't want to fail your finals.
