C90 is around the corner anon
What I think was my power supply made a popping noise then shut off, tripped the circuit breaker in my circuit protected extension outlet panel, and made a prety heavy burning smell.
I took it to another outlet and tried to plug it in and it made a very wrong sounding loud electricial buzzing sound with immediate small amounts of smoke visably coming from the psu.
what exactly happened here and did i just completely fry my computer and ruin every part of it by doing this? no bully pls
>>55788949
yes
>>55788949
Prolly just the PSU has died.
>>55788990
I read by plugging it back in after and hearing that sound it means something was broken in the psu and likely fried rest of my computer, how true / likely is this. i barely plugged in it again for half a second, even less, didnt even fully put the plug in, just sorta touched itto the opening of the outlet.
Have gotten two letters from my ISP already for copyright, want to continue torrenting without a VPN.
What are some options?

That would take a while
Hey /g/ I read the sticky and I know that you guys don't take kindly to people asking for help/support, but I really need your help since I can't find any answers anywhere else.
I'm trying to upgrade to Windows 10 but I get the error in the picture, I'm talking to a Microsoft Answer tech (broken English, and doesn't really understand the situation) and Google isn't turning up with any solutions either.
I have no clue what to do to fix this issue.
Your display is not compatible with Windows 10. Check with the manufacturer for support.
give us your display model and other possible related shit retard, we can't help you with just a shitty screenshot.
also don't forget to install gentoo
Wells looks like your display is not compatible with Windows 10.
You should check with the manufacturer for support.
Install Gentoo.
I'm trying to pull together a bigger picture of my financial history, and after some research settled initially on YNAB. My issue with it is that it's not optimal for old banking information.
I originally chose YNAB bc I read of some potential issues with Mint, and sharing account information with a third party. As I continue to do research the main issues that appear are:
>your information will probably be sold to data vendors/collectors
>there is now a second point of weakness for your financial information to become compromised
I am pretty connected to the botnet right now, and most of my spending is card based, so I'm already being data mined pretty heavily in that front. Besides that Intuit seems to be the safest third party possible for something like this just due to their size and involvement with banking and company information.
Even if they were to become vulnerable would having read-only banking information taken endanger me at all? Most formal articles I've read that speak on the subject are 5~ years old, and forums seem to have a lot of conjecture (not that I expect much more here). What's your opinion on it's safety? Would you advocate not using Mint?
tl:dr Want to use Mint financial software. Aware I will be data mined, and have a slightly higher risk of information loss. Is there any danger beyond this?
If you're scared, why not just create your own records in excel?
>>55789216
If it comes down to it I would be willing to do that. I'm fairly busy and around 2 years worth of data entry would come at a large expense of time. They idea of having that info imported is immensely appealing
Yes, a third-party service that by nature needs to store usernames and passwords for all your financial accounts using at best reversible encryption (because they need to routinely log in) is dangerous.
Aside from them potentially doing anything with your information, there is always the threat that they will be hacked, social engineered, or compromised internally or in any other way and you will be fucked.
Why do people meme against VLC?
>>55788782
Because MPC-HC + madVR is better
I can't uderstand why :(
>>55788804
See that's a meme, arguments consist of evidence rather than assertions
Do you use GPG to encrypt emails?

I'm satisfied with my current setup with Arch and BSPWM + lemonbar, but I feel like I'm missing out on a lot that the more feature-complete desktop environments have to offer (similar to windows). I want to do a big upgrade, and perhaps move to Gentoo because I'm interested in source-based packages. While I absolutely love BSPWM, I have some major issues with it and wine. What are the pros/cons of Gentoo vs Arch and should I go with a DE or WM? Also, what (in your opinion) is the best DE or WM? Preferably, it should be configurable and easy to customise to my needs.

>Arch vs Gentoo
This thread again. Have you got nothing else to do? If not at least go contribute to /fglt/ and help the newbies
>>55788777
I'm not trying to start the fucking arch memes again I'm really interested in the differences. I just want to know everyone's preferences on distro + de + accessories.
>>55788755
I too was trying to decide between Arch/Gentoo just a few weeks ago. In the end I chose Gentoo, because it seemed like more of a learning experience, but I ended up being too retarded to install it correctly on my machine (something in my network config was funky).
So now I'm rocking the Arch train and it's been super comfy and a great intro to how an OS actually functions.
As for DE/WM, I've only tried Gnome, XFCE and Enlightenment, and of all of them I like Enlightenment the best. Gnome being dependent on Cheese bothers me, and XFCE feels older and not very responsive, but honestly any of these are good. Basically just try out everything and see how it goes, but my personally recommendation is Enlightenment
I'm thinking about getting a new mouse, since mine has a habit of freezing.
What do you recommend?
This one. If you would ever consider anything else commit suicide.
>>55788689
something cheap and simple, don't go full retard with "gaming" mouses and don't buy gimmicky ones unless you really need the features
>>55788902
It's not for gaming. I just want something reliable.
Hey guys I have looked everywhere online and cannot find out how to fully charge my 100v 470 microfarad capacitor. Anything you have will help, thanks in advanced.
>>55788679
Attach 200V to it.
What's the difference between these and ceramic capacitors ?
>>55788746
ceramics are higher quality and aren't polarized but cost more
