What's /g/'s opinion on RemixOS?
Have the chinks finally figured out software?
>>55794269
I always thought that it looked interesting, even if android on desktops is just a bad idea
>>55794283
I actually don't think so. For older devices or just as a quick liveboot. Especially for kids or older people that don't need a lot.
how "apt install" works? Isn't that ubuntu-debian command?
Also, remix os is pretty cool idea, it's just a make-up on android-x86, but it looks like windows 10 and it has multiple windows, as soon as they release an installer i'll install it
It's a meme OS. Google will likely in 5 years or less abandoned Android because of dependance on OEMs for security updates.

Not the OP, but you can "apt install" on Termux, which is the default terminal emulator included in remix.
Its pretty cool but, as you may guess, not many packages are compatible.
>>55795257
An installer? There is an iso for 64 & 32bit on their website and they even package an USB/harddisk writer with it.
>>55794269
How's the HW compatibility?
And can I run mpv?
>>55795590
Yes, no.
Sounds like an interesting way, if you need to run some android apps, but dont own/want to own an android phone, or dont want to hand over all your data.
But I guess it'll be a "last resort" thing. I tried android X86 in virtualbox, and operating android apps with a mouse just sucks.
>>55795590
Well it boots on my Skylake laptop so great I guess. Kernel 4.4.14.
And no, since MPV isn't available as an Android app.
Great, 4chan is broken... again.
>>55795624
You can run them in Windows here. If you enable "Simulate scrolling" in the experimental settings it gets better too.
>>55795637
*windows
>>55794269
that's a literal botnet anon, did you read the EULA?
>>55794269

>>55795724
I don't care
>>55795771
I left the username visible for this exact purpose
>>55795821
dumbfuck
>>55795771
a dirty tracer :^)
I thought it was good for netbooks and old laptops but its not, there's no reason to use it.
>>55797239
>I thought it was good for netbooks and old laptops
>netbooks
>old laptops
>in general: slow hardware
>android
What made you think this would be a good idea? Android is not meant to be used on weak hardware. For this, there is full blown desktop OS', such as About any flavour of linux, or even fuckin windows, but certainly not android.
>>55794301
>older people
Sure
>Kids
Nah, I wouldn't give this to kids. Kids are intrinsically curious and if you set them up with something like this, you're probably going to cripple their capacity to use a real operating system to some extent. This is for tinkerers and luddites.
