That's not an option my friend.
I need to download via torrent and avoid getting caught or i will get totally bankrupt due to the fine.
I notice that CS runs the gamut from a purely watered down math degree to a codemonkey degree taught exclusively in Java and VB.net only.
What are the tell-tale signs of a worthless CS program?
>>56019673
I once had a friend in CS have a web-design class where they weren't allowed to use CSS.
I often cringe at the CS grads... :^)
CS is a meme.
>>56019673
Yeah it really depends on the college as to what exactly they teach you. Take a look at software engineering, atleast where I am from, it focuses more on actual programming then the theoretical side of it.
Evening /g/ents.

Not enough 2D girlboys for you?
Hey /g/, let's talk about C. I've read the meme-book and I have a good grasp on how to make console programs. Now I'm wishing to make simple programs for my desktop. For instance, how would I make a multi-platform application with simple animations/interaction?
Also, for linux only, would I just use Xlib?
If anyone sees this, it looks like I use the GTK library.

Back in the day, I built my AMD A8 with a fuckhuge Cooler Master Hyper 612 PWM.
Right now, I'm in the process of upgrading my rig to a Haswell i5 6400. With its puny 65W TDP, can I safely remove the fan and run it passively? Obviously, I'm not planning to overclock it.
>>56019518
whether passive cooling works depends on your case, its ventilation, and what if any other fans are in it.
It is certainly possible to build a completely no-moving-parts machine nowadays. I'd feel better with a 35W CPU rather than a 65W though. But usually it's a lot easier to just add some big, slow fans. A 120mm at 1000 RPM is inaudible more than six inches away or so, and even that measly airflow gives a big boost over pure passive.
With that big of a heatsink, I'd take the risk: remove the fan and just watch your temps for a while. (Assuming it's pretty easy to remove the fan)
>>56019518
As long as you still have at least an intake and exhaust for the case you should be good. My general rule, for my own comfort running a part under possible high load, is a cooler at least rated 3 times higher than the part's tdp. The 612 is a good match for a stock 6500.
On the 9th of August I decided I should invest some time into changing and managing some reused passwords.
I used LastPass to generate some new passwords and two days later I get an e-mail from leldit
"We have detected some suspicious voting and access patterns from your account"
So I barely use the site and my upvote count is still at three, but I do have a new entry in account activity
"104.34.37.76 United States 2 days ago Time Warner Cable"
Seems to me someone from the US accessed it after I changed it and it's a long random password.
So at this point I'm wondering if my computer is fucked or if LastPass is fucked, help me out /g/
>trusting a company with your passwords
>fucking your computer up
Be a good goy and buy a Mac and some rainbow socks.
why not both
>>56019530
Well I've been using my three standard passwords on all the websites I use and my email-address is named in at least ten recent major leaks so I thought this would be a good solution
I went to visit my parents yesterday. I was helping my Dad assemble some speakers and after we completed he went to boot up his computer. I recognized the login screen immediately! Sure enough, he typed in his password and LXDE was displayed before my very eyes.
I was utterly blown away. He reminded me that it was I that installed it for him. The story is that he was complaining about his desktop having viruses and being generally slow about a year and a half ago, when I was visiting for Christmas. So I installed Lubuntu for him. I thought I had removed it the next day, due to his complaints or confusion but I guess I had not and he's been using it this whole time.
Before you get too excited. My dad was not opening up the terminal, installing new apps or doing essentially anything other than opening up chrome and browsing his favourite sites such as youtube & kijiji. But I almost wanted to cry when he told me that he's had almost no complaints and it works better than his Windows 7 install before. The one issue my mom pointed out is that their HP deskjet 1010 wasn't working, but I resolved the issue in 5 minutes for them.
I imagine he's just been accepting the GUI software center prompts to update the system because it was fully updated as I was whizzing around and inspecting in disbelief.

I installed pic related a while back and loved having 4 email accounts in one spot but I've noticed some disadvantages.
Compared to Android email clients like bluemail which requires no configuration for microsoft and gmail accounts, thunderbird took some configuration and experimenting. Not a huge deal but there it is.
I can't make it download all emails from all accounts at once. It only downloads a message at the time I try to access it, and that is always slow.
Even though I never change the styles, the default fonts and paragraph spacing change to ugly shit on their own with updates or something.
Using this on Mint by the way.

takes some getting used to but it's the best lightweight, full featured client i've used

I know that not using linux itself is sin on this board but today this happened, internet edge forced into my start-up my menu is again metro shit and I could not open anything until restart also most of my icons aligned themselves but 4 did not for some reason.
Is it because some behind-my-back update?
Fuck you microsoft!
Yes, everything you do in Windows 10 to customize or disable some unwanted feature will be undone in another mandatory update. Read the EULA, they own your computer while W10 is installed on it and can do as they please with it.
UHOH
LOOKS LIKE YOU GOT WINDOWS PROBLEMS
Something happened
Here's the deal: I am in need of a fairly small laptop(13-14 inches) to use for a youtube/very light gaming machine. The Top end of my budget is probably $650. This is to pair with a desktop computer so I can chill on my bed and still do semi heavy browsing or use it on campus at school. Best Buy has some decent back to school deals going on, but there are so many fucking laptops and different reviews I am having trouble narrowimg down choices. Any opinions?

Idk, thought it might inspire more discussion, and this is my last resort sorta, I've been researching for about 2 hours
>install windows 10 education in a vm because i am forced to use visual studio/c# to pass a programming course
>on an SSD with 256gb
>install windows 10, the size is 16gb
>install VSC goes up to around 23gb, no problem, this is expected
>windows constantly updates
>size creeps up to 26gb
