What VPN configurations do privacy conscious /g/aylords use for daily browsing?
13 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
I wish someone would even explain how to use a VPN - the wiki doesn't, it just states that you SHOULD use one.

Is there even such a thing as a free vpn?
>>
>>56015733
I believe so, but usually their speeds aren't as good, or they keep logs of some kind.
>>
>>56015733
Yeah just google it

I don't use one myself but would use one if there were a reliable way to configure it per-browser so the rest of my traffic isn't affected and doesn't require switching around

>Computer scientists have discovered a serious Internet vulnerability that allows attackers to terminate connections between virtually any two parties and, if the connections aren't encrypted, inject malicious code or content into the parties' communications.
So if you're using HTTPS, the absolute worst they could do to you is terminate the connection.

No java installed=no problems
Freetards confirmed correct
I guess anyone not using a bleeding edge distro like Arch will have to wail til kernel 4.7 lands to escape this vulnerability.

Does anybody else on /g/ use process hacker? I've used it for a few years and its always been pretty handy, but I've never seen any posts about it on here or anything on the wiki relating to it so I got a bit curious.

Thanks senpai.

S6 owner here.
Have had this phone about a year now, and before that I had a nexus 4 for 3 years.
Stock Android is smooth as butter compared to any flavor of TouchWiz on any Samsung device.
Samsung software isn't where it needs to be but they do make some fine chips and phones.
Samsung also makes some VERY heavy modifications to the Android OS they ship their devices on, especially on the performance/memory side of things.

So yes, anyone who claims that TouchWiz is smooth or can be smooth after animation and performance tweaks is a fucking shill.
Don't blame Android though.
>>
>>56016588
Samsung sells >50 % of all Android phones. So try to explain yourself as you will, people will always blame Android for the shit Samsung does.
>>
>>56016649
Source?
And yes, Samsung is a huge reason why Android has a bad reputation for lagdroid and such.
But I will admit, Android has shit tier input/touch latency.

Is buying a used 7200rpm HDD in "tested excellent condition" for ~20 bucks a decent buy?

Buying a used HDD is never a good idea. Ever. $20 USD for a 320 GB is a ripoff anyway, that shit is garbage. Anything under 1 TB is trash.

You can almost get a brand new Ssd for that price. Don't buy it. It's a total ripoff even if it was brand new

It's why I'm betraying AMD and Sapphire for Nvidia and Zotac. A 1080 will be a fun experiment. If the fucking thing fails me, then I return it and stick with my decent 390. Whatever works.

I've always found thrift shops to be massively helpful. I bring a USB live disk with me wherever I go, and use it to test computers that don't want to boot into an OS.

Deseret Industries (mormon Goodwill) carries a bunch of computers and such. Also, garage sales have been kind to me in the past, but that varies depending on where you are.

Hey anon, so I have a fairly powerful computer I wanted to sell, but when I bought it I didn't want to pay an extra $80 for the operating system so I got it without one and pirated my own copy of Windows 7 Ultimate. It's fully installed and works perfect; there's no indication that it's not genuine beyond not getting updates. I've had it for quite a while now, but it's starting to become obsolete and I'm starting college so I was going to get a laptop instead, but I'm slightly afraid to sell my computer with the pirated OS.

What do you think? Should I sell it with the current operating system? Or perhaps I should install a free operating system? Which OS should I use? I assume Linux but I don't know anything about Linux distros myself so I don't know which one would be best for my potential buyer. Ubuntu seems to be the most user friendly?

pic not really related

you're selling it to a normie most likely,

why would a normie give a shit about a pirated OS? as long as it is quiet nobody gives a shit. only old people too scared of computers would feel 'unsafe' in face of this.

if they ask you about it say you sold it with a 80 dollar discount so they could afford the OS.

although they didn't ask for a pirated OS, they didn't ask for something they can't use or play gaymes in either.

do this: install windows 8.1 in it. disable all junk besides the font optimization and windows shadows. the pc will at it's peak speed in this crap OS.
if they're stupid enough to use windows 10, they'll resent it (just like I do) and find the pirated OS even better than the paid one.
>>
That's what I was thinking too, but it makes me more confident to here it from someone else.
>>
If you want an actual answer than a pirated copy of windows would be better than a Linux Distro for general sale.

If you want a more autistic answer, honestly pirating software and trying to pass it off as legitimate to use for a sale is a lack of integrity on your end. It's up to you to decide if that means anything but I honestly feel that the world gets a little shittier when people give up on their integrity, even for stupid shit like this.

But what do I know, I'm just some random poster in a nigerian knitting club.
