router is downstairs, pc is upstairs. how would i go about getting good speeds from my pc? I get like 35Mbps when I should get like 60Mbps at least.
Move PC downstairs or router upstairs
>>56016891
i've moved my router upstairs, connected a coax cable to it but it doesnt work if i do that. Would I have to contact my ISP to move the router upstairs?
Sup /g/ I am looking to convert to the Linux Master Race, but need some inspiration on what desktop environment, theme, and all of that to use. Care to post screenshots, and what you are rocking?
nah
Openbox WM, tint2 panel up top, conky config on the bottom, numix circle icon pack. Just install and start tweaking it to your liking OP, copying someone else's config just isn't going to feel as comfy as doing it yourself.

Is this the new desktop thread?

Linux-devs suck at anything security-related. More at 11.
>>56016866
Nah just Manjaro and Linux Mint i.e. shit distros.
>>56016866
>>56016965
It's just the shitty pre-configured forks of popular distros that do all the hard work for them
>having a unique name
This was okay before the age of the Internet, but now anyone is a few clicks away from finding everything about you without having to search for a needle in a haystack.
Here it is: two surnames; if female, your surnames never change after marriage.
Anglos don't have it that bad.
Who /John/ here
Most popular name next to Muhammad
True, OP. It actually makes sense to go with something generic and teenager-tier like Sephiroth1000 or DarkKnightBatman or JediKnight4
ITT: Vaporware

I AM NOT VAPORWARE, IGNORANT HUMAN.
Anyone remembers this thing? What happened to it?

I still don't know if it was an April Fool's joke or not.
Hey /g/, I'm in the process of upgrading to a couch station, I would basically have my normal setup (27' next to a vertical monitor) behind my couch and in front of the couch a huge ass monitor.
I've been looking for months and when I was almost ready to buy a Philips BDM4350UC I found out it has terrible burn in issues and now I'm kind of back to the starting point.
Are TVs really that bad for gaming? Is there any 40''+ with acceptable ghosting and input lag?
I figured I will either buy some 1080p for <400 euros and then upgrade both my graphic card and monitor to 4k in a few years or spend a bit more now (<900) and buy a decent graphic card when they will actually be able to support 4k gaming maxed out.
Please please help me out.
P.S. I live in Italy so yeah, something that ships in Europe.
>>56016316
I have the Philips 40" 4k monitor and it's great. It's a VA panel also and after using it I would never go back to my old multi-monitor setup.
Only complaint is I wish it was curved since I do see a bias towards things being nicer looking when they are directly infront rather than off to a side, but it's barely noticable
philips tvs/monitors are complete garbage, avoid them like plague

Do you know anything as big?
I was checking out the IIYAMA Prolite X4071UHSU but it doesn't look taht good either
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2016/08/10/microsoft_secure_boot_ms16_100/
>>56016305
Microsoft leaked the golden keys that unlock Windows-powered tablets, phones and other devices sealed by Secure Boot – and is now scrambling to undo the blunder.
These skeleton keys can be used to install non-Redmond operating systems on locked-down computers. In other words, on devices that do not allow you to disable Secure Boot even if you have administrator rights – such as ARM-based Windows RT tablets – it is now possible to sidestep this block and run, say, GNU/Linux or Android.
What's more, it is believed it will be impossible for Microsoft to fully revoke the leaked keys.
And perhaps most importantly: it is a reminder that demands by politicians and crimefighters for special keys, which can be used by investigators to unlock devices in criminal cases, will inevitably jeopardize the security of everyone.

What does /g/ listen to while programming? I can't listen to anything with lyrics as it distracts me, I've taken a liking to the Vitamin String Quartet who do string covers of well known modern artists.
