Okay fit my TDEE calculated at 2900 based on light exercise and 3300 based on moderate. I fall into the moderate based on my activity level but I hold myself to the light to try to be realistic.
Long story short, I have been following this for 16 days and have a total calorie deficit in this time of 15,100, which should equate to a loss of 4.3 lbs.
The weird part is I have lost nothing and actually gained weight.
My question is this: with dedication and sticking to this deficit while also going to the gym, how long should it typically take to see the weight start to fall off? With most diet plans I would assume to see at least some progress within 3 weeks, no?

I was hardcore addicted to diet sodas not too long ago. It didn't help that the student union at my university has free* fountain drinks as long as you bring your own container (*paid for by student fees). I was drinking upwards of 8 cans worth a day at one point.
I wanted to stop, but couldn't because of the caffeine addiction and the fact that "there's no calories involved, no harm done."
Then I read that it can cause insulin resistance, and I really don't feel like getting diabetes anytime soon. So I quit. It was really hard not to think about grabbing a can from a vending machine or go across the street to the convenience store for a bottle. But I channeled my inner Jew and fought it. It helps to imagine that instead of spending $1-2 on a single drink to satiate my cravings, I can get a near-limitless amount of chilled water in a glass for free from the tap, that has the same amount of calories and is actually better for me.

Number one rule of cutting:
choose your foods wisely.
there are tons of great low calorie, nice macro ratio food out there. Cutting really teaches you how shitty and not worth it most unhealthy food is.
Sure you can eat 3 burgers but that is all you can eat to stay within your calorie count. Of course you'll be hungry all day, as opposed to if you cooked for yourself and ate some chicken breast, brown rice and veggies instead, you'd feel fucking stuffed and still have eaten less calories than a single greasy double cheeseburger.
