why don't you play a sport, anon? unless you're an actual powerlifter who competes (which there aren't many of on /fit/), why don't you take up some other sport? it's like working really hard in a class but not taking it for credit. it's pointless

I played rugby in uni. I have really great memories of it, but that was as much the social aspect as it was the game itself. I thought about playing for a men's team, but I don't think the social aspect would be the same, and I don't really want to chance an injury. I really enjoy lifting, so I'm training to compete in powerlifting and/or strongman.

I was a rich neet for a while, so of course I tried them. They don't work or else I couldn't get them to. My focus and mood fucked up more then normal and I got shingles from killing my immune system.
The best thing is controlling your circadian rhythm through light, music, caf, and exercise in the morning, and then low light, melatonin, & relaxation before bed.
You need to take the melatonin 3-6 hours before sleep. I thought melatonin was useless before I discovered that.

Hey /fit/ - quick question, sorry if this has been answered elsewhere but I had a look through the catalog and didn't see anything on it.

Basically I've been skinny as fuck all my life and I want to start doing something about it by getting onto a high calorie/ high protein diet and doing some weight training (I've looked at the sticky so I know what the aim for). The problem though is a lifetime of eating fuck all combined with bad habits (smoking, pot, six pack of beer a night) has left me with little to no appetite and I literally can't get that much food into me without spewing/feeling like my stomach's going to explode. I've kicked most of the bad habits (still drink a fair bit) so I want to start building up my appetite and stomach capacity to start gaining weight.

So I guess my question would be if anyone knows of any specific diet plans aimed at gradually building up appetite to the point where I'll be able to get a bulking amount of calories and protein into me everyday (2526 cals - 120 grams protein daily is my end goal if that helps).

Also, any general advice related to building appetite.

When I started drinking shakes I felt very full, now I make them with a lot of stuff and soon I have room for food in my stomach. It'll suck in the beggining but your body will adapt.

If you have to do it, drink a diet soda. It has no sugar.

The problem with diet soda is that the artificial sweetener is incredibly powerful. It'll make you crave more sweet things in your diet.

It's not hard to stop once you go about a month without it. Taste buds can adapt to the relative pH of your mouth, so going a long time without highly acidic/sweet drinks will actually make regular drinks like water taste sweeter after you've become desensitized.

Not true. Plenty of whites and browns can achieve that and he looks worse in the left photo. Just shows how lighting and and angle and pose can effect perception.

What protein/fat/carb ratio do you guys do. I've always roughly tracked my kcals/ratios and did carb > protein > fat. But I got an endomorph body type.

Seems wack getting more fat than carbs....is this some sort of broscience or what?

Sugars and simple starches take less processing and will get stored as body fat if you don't use them immediately, and then you won't have those calories available for burning, which will make you feel less energetic and hungrier. Fat gets metabolized over time, so your available food energyou is more consistent and you have more time to use that energy before you store it and feel tired/hungry.

If you've got the lack of appetite or the will power to just not pay attention to these signals, you can still succeed, if you burn more calories than you consume, but I find a lower carb, higher fat diet helps me control my appetite and maintain energy for workouts without the need to snack for a pick-me-up after work.
