I ordered a school desk online from another country, and it seems that at some point during delivery, the legs got skewed. How do I fix this? Returning it for a new one isn't really an option. Seeing as how its from another country, this option would probably cost a lot and take a long time to be completed.

that is one shitty hipster desk

just bend it back

I took the top off as to not crack the wood while trying to bent it back, to no avail.

Hi lads,
Im in big stump, i have to come up with a new idea and implement it in 4 months using this RF receiver.
We had a year to do so but my professor shot us down and he insist on us using this RF receiver.

My question is what kind devices transmit radiowaves and what can i pick up other than fm radio, airplanes?
What do i do with this? Its sriving me insane!!

>>
Literally anything you can think of uses some kind of RF.
GPS, Radar, Mobile Phones, Wifi, spark plugs, light switches. if you can think it it produces RF or at least leaks it.

I don't really want to do your homework tho. So >>>/out/
>>
>>1081892
I know that but this only detects up to 1.7GHz,l. I get it nypa but i really am hitting a wall with this.

Originally we wanted to do something with planes, but it was too simple and theres a lot of apps for it.
Then we decided to move on to transmitter but it was too expensive buying a transmitter.
>>
>>1081895
You might recreate project TEMPEST. There really isn't that much public domain software about it. i.e. capturing keystrokes and cpu activity via RF.

Hey /diy/
This is probably a question for a different board, but I don't really know which one, and I know you guys are the no-bullshit, getting things done board, so I'm asking you. Still if you think this topic would find better friction somewhere else, please point me there.

So, I'm writing my PhD, and as my work is fairly low-profile my Prof won't give me any cash for a professional to do the statistics. I have no prior experience with this stuff, so I'm struggling a bit.

I'm checking how much a patients hearing improves, in dB, after a certain treatment, and I'm looking for a test to show the significance (or lack thereof) of improvement before and after treatment.

I used the student t test at first, but it seems to only work when you compare continuous and categorical data, and i have two continuous variables. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

>tl;dr What test do I use to compare two sets of continuous data?

Try asking /sci/, but beware that they're often snobby shitheads.
>>
What does your data look like? A paired t-test is almost certainly what you want.

My experience is with R, not SSPS, but I can for sure help you figure out the right test to do.
>>
>>1081801
Well as far as I understand it, you use the Student-T-Test when you have something like gender and your test result, and that you check if there is a difference between men and women scoring.

I have two tests, before and after, with numbers ranging between 0 and 120. After some research last night i finnaly setteled on the wilcoxon test. Any thoughts about my choice?

I have a pair of OXO good grip kitchen scissors. On one of the blades it was micro serrations that prevent stuff from slipping when using the scissors. My better half decided to test the new knife/scissor sharpening device on the blade with the micro serrated edge, they are now gone. Is there a way to get them back without buying a new pair?

yeah i have an eraser that will bring them back.

you could try running them on a 60 grit belt sander, you'd get the serrations but they'd be uneven as fuck.
>>
>>1081572
>microserrations

it is a marketing gimmick you stupid fuck, it is just a pair of scissors and if you have trouble using a pair of scissors, it is not the scissors, it is you
>>
>>1081572
yes

use a bench grinder to re-grind the edge, just with like a 60-80 grit wheel it should be rough enough it will grab onto whatever it is cutting

Serious question here. Im a renter so I cant just replace the toilet, but what can I do to modify it while I live here so my balls dont take a bath every time I have to sit down to take a crap?
25 posts and 4 images submitted.
>>
Your water level is determined by your water trap that is a part of the mold used to make the bowl so nothing you can do there.

It's winter in the northern hemisphere so I will suggest:
Opening a window
Dip your balls in ice water prior to shitting
Lower the temperature on your thermostat and wear cool weather pants.
Cup your balls as you sit.
If they really have a good hang, toss them over your shoulder, like a continental solider.
Get a booster seat from CVS or Walgreens. It will be in the old people aids section.

Ive been looking at the booster seats, but they are all so geriatric. Im hoping there are seats that are like .5 to 1 inch thicker than what I have so I dont have the same seat as my grandma but that doesnt seem to be a spec thats listed online.

I moved into a new apartment, new bedroom had a dimmer switch. Ceiling light had compact fluorescent bulbs in it. Needless to say they didn't work and the switch buzzed horribly.

Ordered a pair of dimmable LED bulbs, put them in the light, no more buzzing but the dimming didn't work, either off or on.

Bought an LED dimmer switch assuming that was the problem. Pull it off the wall just now and there's only two wires, switch has three.

Did I fuck up or can I install this somehow?

Okay, I have identified that green is ground, but the box I'm screwing it into does not have any obvious grounding points. Can I just wrap it around one of the bolts that goes into the box?
>>
>>1080794
Yes
Also incandescents tend to work a lot better than LED bulbs
>>
>>1080801
Thanks, just got it back together. Only dims from 100% to about 85%, then turns off (dim to off switch.

Better than nothing before I guess, but still annoying. Might switch back to incandescent.

Hey /diy/.

My neighbours are from kurdistan or watever. She plays arabic music and sounds like shes riding a fucking rollercoaster. She also slams the floor like a madgirl.

She plays her music late at night. We've made disturbance calls multible times but the landlord wont evict them it seems. I've tried about five times to ask them (politely) if they could lower the music. Witch she will do for about twenty minutes, and then crank it up louder then before.

I've come to you /diy/ for advice. Im usually from /pol/ but they are busy with the presidential vote atm.

I assume the disturbance calls were to the landlord? Call the police. Call them every time. Eventually they'll get pissed that they have to come every night and they'll give them a fine.

Since you're from pol I'll also recommend that you put an anonymous tip into homeland security about them being terrorists. Make sure you do it from a pay phone with no cameras around.

Either way they'll probably get deported in a few weeks since Trump is going to win.
>>
>>1080528
There is absolutely no problem in kurds talking arabic.

Other then it is a shitty language.

Im 20 and interested in building my own home. I'm specifically interested in this one. http://www.thesmallhousecatalog.com/afewsmallwords/no-31-fraxinus. i have no idea what im doing but i know a guy who would understand the blue prints and i would arrange a price for what i would pay him and i would help him any way i could. but for the materials? how much do you think something like this will cost? I like this one because its a 2 bed 2 bath. Im 6"3 and i want my girlfriend to move out with me in a small house like this while she goes through college and i figure out that im going to do. so, i guess what my real question is, how much do you think this thing will cost? i live in cali if that means anything

also, I know i would have to research everything necesary to make this a "livable" home and id have to find property i can place eit on. im just wondering how much it would cost (estimate) for a home like this
>>
Roughly $100 per square foot for a big house, but thing is, it doesn't scale linearly. Building a small house is going to cost more per sqft than a big house. Small house meme, etc.

But before that figure out what permits you need and whether you can even build it where you want it in the first place.
>>
>>1080424
>how much do you think something like this will cost?

Fuck if we know dude. What are the prices for shit where you live? Google it or call up a couple of local places and get prices.

>how much do you think this thing will cost?

More than the cost of an existing home of the same basic statistics in the area you want to build it. Custom is never cheaper.

Hello /diy/, the blimp guy has returned!

After reading all your posts on my old thread, I have decided to rethink my decisions and if I choose to use hydrogen as the lifting gas, I can make some arrangements in order to make it as safe and non-hazardous as possible.

I have put in research on how to build the damn thing, and I have already taken note of a few points and have made a fairly accurate price range.

More advice would be greatly appreciated, and I am open to all answers!

A cheap 100$ tablesaw can be very versatile and do most of what you need
