Can someone draw up plans for it please
Edgy teenager plz go and stay go.
ive read about taping it , or using a wrapping vinyl . i liked that idea but i cant buy that shit here.
is wrapping vinyl the same as you put on doors.
you know the one you buy like for glass windows.
can you use it for a bicycle ?
>>1079280
Why does it need special faux-painting methods?
Just buy a couple Krylon cans of primer, color, and clear coat and do it the regular way
>>1079282
it already has a nice color to it , i didnt want to fuck it up .
i will try those krylon cans.
i fucked it up once with those cans. maybe i didnt do it right .

Small, thin coats. Allowed to dry over time.
What's the most direct path to building synthesizers? I've attempted to research self teaching paths but it seems like you're either building kits which don't teach much beyond soldering schematics and assembly. Anything is useful thanks for all replies.
Bamp
>building kits which don't teach much
It's up to you to learn concepts and theory from the kit, even if they don't provide the best learning materials. These days you should be able to find enough supplementary material on the web. Hell, a guy at my work who just retired got his start on analog synths as a teen.
>>1079167
Which supplementary material would you be referring to?
i really want to build up some adventure buss from some old school bus. What do you think how much money will i need for like furniture water and solar panels?
>>1078646
Not as expensive as you would think.
Firstly, you should get:
>The bus
There are many types of buses, rear engine, front engine, semi-front engine, but if you like a quiet living area, the rear engine bus would be your best bet.
>Driver's license
Your current license is not going to work. In order to drive larger vehicles, you need a commercial license and driving without one is asking for trouble.
>Some tools
You will need to strip the bus of all of its seats, but once this is done, now it is time for redecorating, and this is the part that is really left up to you.
>Bathroom
It is possible to set up a bathroom inside the bus, but you can always just stop at a truck stop and use their's. You would need to get plumbing done if you want a bathroom and a way to drain it once it gets full.
>Beginning
If you want to do this as fast as possible, you can literally throw in a bed/mattress, a small electric stove, a couch, a TV and some movies, and other appliances.
Also, bus engines are much larger and complicated than the ones inside normal cars. If the engine ever just starts revving like crazy and won't stop even if you turn it off(this is extremely rare), then you will need to cover the small turbine inside the engine with something. Fixing these engines when they stop working is much more difficult and you should probably consult a mechanic.
I don't have experience with installing floor's so that one is up to you.
The bus should look something like this when you are done clearing it, and you should be able to cover the windows with curtains and throw in a few simple things.
>>1078653
>I don't have experience with installing floor's so that one is up to you.
I do. Wood is forgiving and straightforward. It needs to be able to 'breathe' and shift slightly as it expands and contracts with temp and humidity. Hardwood floors always have a ~1/2 inch gap between floor and walls around the perimeter of the room. You just need to hide it under baseboards, appliances, whatever.
You can either do nail-down or floating... nail down is more durable, but will be a pain in a bus.
What do you think of harbor freight? Do they have good quality stuff? It seems mixed opinions on the quality where some are good and some are bad. Are they only good for a few uses?
Never had a problem with any of their tools. Detractors are mostly big box shills imo.
They are always cheap, not always bad, not always good
Some people have such a negative attitude about harbor freight you would think it fucked their mother
I've never had a major problem, when something breaks I don't mind because I got more use out of it than I spent

Depends on what your buying and what your intended purpose for it is. Most socket sets are junk unless you are using it around the house and not mechanical repair. Power tools the same way if your going hard at your tools you might want another option. ..
Any ideas for making a temporary outdoor garage? I'm thinking using plywood, pvc pipes, plastic sheets, that kind of stuff. The image I posted is some idea but I think that fucker would fly away in a heavy wind.
Buy one with a lifetime or long warranty. You will spend more trying to jerry rig some thing
>>1082566
Just get a garage tent. Steel is strong, as long as the thing is anchored well it doesn't fly away. Army tents don't fly away either.
Making something out of wood if it's going to be temporary is hardly worth it.
>>1082566
Then fucking bolt it down. Rolled plastic is cheap to replace.

Is it safe to leave tops on propane torches? Do they leak
I use mine in my garage but I also bring it in the house to use for dabbing shatter or wax. I always worry it might leak if I leave the handle on after I'm done using it indoors
Generally remove mine but plenty of times I've left it on. Should be safe but if you're really worried just mix a little soap and water and check it for leaks
>>1082367
i left the top on mine over the winter last year, still had gas in the spring when i needed it.
>>1082367
>Is it safe to drive? Do cars crash
It is a matter of risk, you leave it on, the valve probably is less reliable than the oring inside the can, so it can leak
Will it leak? Maybe, maybe not, there is just higher chance to leak, why not just take it off so you can leave the liability to the manufacurer if it explodes and kills you and they cant say "user error forgot to turn off valve"
hi /diy/, i bought a book through ebay and it came with what looks like mold.
how do i go about cleaning it without damaging the book? it's a good book, i'm hoping to keep it.
here's another shot from the inside.
is this even salvagable?
>>1082295
Its fucked. Get a wit h the times and get a PDF.

Hope it was cheap. I'd scan it and toss it. At the least, keep it away from your other books so they don't get cancer, too.
I'm in a 100 hour challenge to make anything out of junk from the organizers. Right now I'm trying to figure out what everything is before I decide what to make and I have this string thing that gets hot when plugged in (I unplugged it after like 30s because it smelled like a hot glue gun) and I don't know what it is.
Anyone know what it is? Is it supposed to get hot or should I not plug it into anything?
It may be one of the things that keeps pipes from freezing in the winter. Or if it gets really really hot, a foam cutter. But I doubt that.
Maybe a heating element from an electric blanket?
>>1082217
It's a electric heating strip. Wrap it around a cone that's placed in a sock and made an electric penis warmer for those cold winter nights.
I want to replace the wheels on a sliding glass door, but how do I know what type to buy?
>>1082071
you take the old one off. take it to the store. ask the mexican working there to match it up with a new one. replace it. go on about your day
I swear people are fucking dumb
>>1082075
Maybe I wanna order one from amazon you beaner.
>>1082076
take out the old one. look for them online. find one that matches the one you have. double check the dimensions with the online details to the one you have. if match buy it, if not keep searching.
is it that fucking complicated?
I swear people are fucking dumb
so basically my apartment is very cold .
i painted the walls and have vinyl on the ground.
i dont know how and why the cold is getting in.
my windows are pretty good and new .
like my shower , i cant stand there with my bare feet . its just tooooo cold .
anybody has some advice on how to MINIMIZE the coldness.
does wallpaper on walls really help against the cold and somewhat the noise i am getting from neighbors.
>>1082020
you need a black color paint that will absorb more heat to make it warmer
if your shower is cold, try turning on hot water
>>1082020
>used the word phuck
12 year old detected
>>1082028
That is not how it works..
If you have a room where the walls are cold, you would feel colder if the walls were black.
If the same room had reflective walls, say mirrors, the the room would feel less cold..
If a material is a good heat absorber, then it will most likely be a good heat radiatior. Especially when you talk about ratiaded heat.
Conduction is a little bit more complicated.
But Op, minimize all possible sources of unintended air leaks and draft(?)
Vinyl would feel colder than a thick carpet. The carpet will also dampen noise.
Round two. Let's see everyone's thoughts on this tv. It's an element eldft406. Now it works only when using rf, it ran for 2 days straight. Hdmi turns off after a few minutes. I haven't tested compont/composite yet. Everything looks good component wise though. To me it must me the tuner board but as I said there are no visible faults. What do you guys think?
Here is the power board
>>1081428
>Element
theres your problem
>>1081457
Well aware... that's not constructive. What's wrong with the tuner board?
How do I achieve perfect results with polyurethane varnish?
Just put some vinegar on it. Why didnt you think of that dummy?
>>1081211
Use it in a paint booth ...
Or wait a couple of weeks for it to completely harden and buff out the inevitable fucking dust.
Best I got is:
1. Thin with naphtha I like to use 20% naptha, quite thin
2. Apply thin
3. LET THE FINISH DRY UNTIL IT PASSES THE 'TACKY' PHASE
4. Sand (I've had better luck with random orbital sander w/220 grit than doing it by hand). It will almost look like you've undone all your work after sanding
5. Use a tack cloth to rid the workpiece of dust before repeating 1-4
I like naptha because it dries faster than paint thinner or mineral spirits. Thinning is important imho because it lets you lay down thinner, more even coats that dry quicker which is the key to getting good results. Sometimes I make a few fast passes with a heat gun to flash off the naphtha after an even coat is applied.
I would like to make a how to for people looking to get into tor and free browsing into a pdf or something of the sort but could use a hand on thinkin of other useful things to add. Any ideas Anon's?
