Hey /ck/
Bout to make some meat pies tomorrow.
Made the crust today, now for filling i need advice
What i was planning:
>Pour a little olive oil on a pan (also have canola and possibly grapeseed oil, if they have better smokepoints, let me know)
>Put in a few diced cloves of garlic, stir and allow the oil to rise in temp (should the oil be hot before i put in the garlic? i sorta want to infuse the garlic flavor into the oil)
>Saute some onions in the oil
>After the onions are browned, add in ground beef
>Break into small pieces, once browned add spices
>Spices consist of paprika, cayenne, cumin
>Add in cubed potatoes
>Add bit of water (or broth. dont think ill be adding wine to this one)
>Allow to simmer, then mix in some flour to thicken, and then cook until done
I have a fairly normie assortment of spices, but i can totally go and buy some more.
If you have any recommendations please tell me.
I was also wondering if i should add in tomato paste, as its generally what i depend on for masking the flavor of shitty food.
Also, should i add some greens? Meat and potatoes are fine but i feel like its not enough.

>meat pies
pic related is an empanada
>>8368412
Im gonna be honest my dude, ive never known what an empanada was. My mexican friends used to laugh about that, and i never cared to google it.
So, that should probably exemplify how lost i am right about now.

Whiskey.
What are you drinking, what are you buying, what are you eyeing up?
Pic related, sourced a bottle after an anon mentioned it in a thread a couple of weeks ago. Very unusual, very "green" taste. Not bad, but nothing like any scotch or bourbon I've had and difficult to get used to because of it.

>Whiskey
no
>>8360541
i'm sure there's other, more appropriate threads out there for you to discuss your juniper vodka in
>>8360534
Haven't tried the peated one but I have tried the regular one. I agree, like nothing I have ever tried before. Not sure if I liked it or not, will probably pick up another bottle if I see it on offer to double check.
Been drinking Glenmorangie Midwinter Night Dram recently after getting it for £25 in Costco. Quite unusual and quite subtle but very pleasant. Will buy another bottle and hide it away until next winter I think.
Hamerican here. I'm waiting for a package of pic related to arrive. What am I in for?
probably fish
>>8374831
Good, that's what I was hoping for.

One of the worst smells, ever. This fish, surströmming, is notorious for smelling awful when you open the can . It's popular in Sweden.
Ranch dressing is a type of salad dressing made of some combination of buttermilk, salt, garlic, onion, herbs (commonly chives, parsley, and dill), and spices (commonly black pepper, paprika, and ground mustard seed), mixed into a sauce based on mayonnaise or another oil emulsion.
So uh, what's wrong with this again? Why is it non American posters are so repulsed by this when the British often dip shit in mayo by itself (pic related) or seem to love mayo in general like the Japs ? Is is because they hate seasonings and herbs?
I always assumed the disgust came from excessive overuse. I've seen some fat fucks just dump it on salad.
I used to eat ranch and pickles on my pizza in high school.
As an American who's only known a few people who were really into Ranch, I never really saw anyone use Ranch to dip their fries into.
Iv'e been using mayo for my fries since I was a toddler, and never really liked Ranch, by the way.
>Nandos opens in my town
>have had it before and it was decent for the price, younger siblings love it
>take siblings out to new restaurant for dinner
>get in and everyone working is under trained and awkward as fuck
>they have no fucking clue what they're doing
>becomes obvious this is the workers first jobs
>servers and hosts don't know how to communicate
>cashiers can barely take orders
>"w/e the food will probably be good"
>get the chicken and start eating it
>"it's ok i guess"
>bite deeper
>it's all fucking bloody closer to the bone
>my younger siblings inspect their chicken
>theirs is bloody too
>the nandos was not cheeky
how the fuck can a restaurant be so irresponsible that they under train a whole fucking staff for opening
shitty service/nandos thread
Fucking kill yourself

You ever think back over your life and regret moments? Like the time you were eating with a girl you like and you share some fries. You were so engrossed in the moment that you don't notice someone throwing a ketchup packet at you. And you were forced to confront that person because you were high on testosterone. And then you get hauled off to the principals office. You didn't even get to eat your dry chicken sandwich. God, US public school lunches are boring.
for me
One of these just opened up near me despite the fact that I'm in Florida
What should I get?
>>8375146
why should we tell you what to do
Double butterburger with cheesecurds
Also look up your areas flavor of the day and try them out in concrete form
>>8375155
Why would I want to eat concrete?
We had a cupcake contest today at work. Which cupcake do you think looks the best?
>>8373910
Second from left in the middle row looks the best, but I think if I had to pick one to eat, I'd have the pink one
>>8373910
the bottom row and the second from the top right (the blue one) are the best. I'd probably give it to the bottom right, though I'd like to see some different angles. The blue one would be a top contender but with how simple it is the piping not being done with a steady hand really detracts from its appeal. The christmas tree one (bottom middle) is also a really good one, probably most creative.
>>8373910
i want the bloody cum one in the far left middle row
so this is objectively the best soda, right?
>overly sweet bubblegum
>>8373903
perfect for that sweet treat of a drink
>>8373908
reminder that soda is only to be enjoyed on occasion and never become a regular part of anyone's diet.
Is it worth the hour and a half of stirring to do it the old fashioned way?
It's getting stale.
Please stop.

Do you use a freakishly small wooden spoon?
Hello /ck/
holidays are coming and I'm thinking about making some grilled animals...
do you have any experience or tips related to cooking a whole pig in a weber-type grill?
normally I'd use a brick and mortar type of grill, but I'll probably be cooking in a friends house and he only has one of those round weber grills (coal, not propane)
since I've never used one of those and I'll be cooking for several friends and acquaitances I don't want to screw it up
I'm also considering a small goat, but the main issue here is how to proceed with this weber thing
tl;dr: how would you cook a small suckling/goat in a weber coal grill?
That looks fucking hilarious. I grilled a whole goat leg with the hoof on for a halloween party one time. It was kind of a joke but it all got eaten shredded on sandwiches.
bumping with a grill for reference
>>8373389
Too small for a whole animal
Maybe for 1-2 lamb shanks
The big weber grill has a zone without coal in the middle, with a water bassin to catch the dropping fat, so the heat is indirect
About 2 hours cooking time
Hey /ck
I just bought some thyme from the grocery store. What to do? How to use it in my cooking?
Thx
>>8373026
>supporting the supermarket herb jew.
You can grow that shit indoors. It's the biggest ripoff is to buy herbs at a supermarket.
make butter chicken in the crockpot with lemon and thyme
>>8373032
well i have to buy it to grow it don't I
> White Icing
> Milk chocolate
> Mcdonalds fries
>>8372176
I'll buy a jar of this and slice of white cake from the store bakery and just re-ice it. I'll get through 4-5 big tablespoons before the shame sets in and I throw the jar out.
>>8372568
I dont follow. You buy one slice of cake, eat the icing off it, replace the icing, then repeat?
Why? Just so you can eat around the cake?
>4 large mcdicks fries
