Hey /ck, Whatcha cooking today? It was a windy, rainy 41F when I woke up today (live on the coast) so I am doing a pantry comfort food idea and staying indoors.
What are making today? Can you guess what I have in mind?
>>8519346
Adding the stock, wine, olives, capers and then a simmering step..
>>8519346
Before having some wine with my meal which is simmering, need a little cafecito first...which in my case will be a cortadito. Foaming step incoming (not that whole will get too foamy altogether).
This foam really collapsed when I added the espresso which I expected. Like a Cuban counter, it has ridiculous amounts of sugar in the espresso :P That's my spoiled child on the mug.
The main is simmering, back burners are rice and platanos maduros.

How do you fu/ck/s make sushi?
I've been wanting a roll with cream cheese and smoked salmon
Have you ever eaten a krabby patty?
yeah, it was the bee's knees
>>8518786
That thing is a heart attack on a bun
it's literally
>"chum" aka shrimp/crab/some crustacean patty
>lettuce
>onion
>tomato
>cheese
>pickles
>mustard
>ketchup
>"""secret sauce"""
but i don't think many people have had shrimp/crab burgers before so I don't think many people have had krabby patty before.
How long can you eat leftovers before you die from eating them? I made some penne with ground chicken and vegetables in a tomato sauce on Monday. I ate it today, 6 days later. It tasted absolutely fine, was in the fridge the whole time obviously. Now I'm wondering if I will survive to see the day end.
If you aren't a pussy you'll be fine. Most bad things end up just giving me diarrhea but nothing more than that, I've never been hospitalized before due to food poisoning and I've eaten:
>moldy bread (was sailing offshore and lost a lot of supplies)
>a month old leftover pumpkin pie slice
>raw beef/eggs (not impressive, I know, just throwing it out there)
>canned food that turned out to be expired by 5 years
>a sandwich some spic in Miami sold me that I'm pretty sure had been kept on a car radiator for about 5 days, the lettuce was starting to decay)
Never understood how some people can be sent to the hospital for eating a little raw fish or eggs or something

You're incredibly lucky. Try eating bad shellfish.

I prep all my stuff on Sunday, and don't cook again (in any meaningful fashion) until Sunday again unless it's a special occasion. Meaning I eat 7-day old stuff all the time, it's never done anything to me. I wouldn't push it much past a week though.
The GOAT condiment.
Yeah if you like bitter/sour with a little heat
>>8517874
I'm ok with this.
>>8517874
I like these better. They aren't very hot, but I mainly buy them to pickle garlic in when the peppers are gone.
He said that it is like a sugar, and your body will react negatively to it. What do you know about honey and do you know if this is true or false? I like having a few cups of tea a day and 2/3 times I'll use honey. I don't want to use white sugar anymore for the health benefits
pic unrelated
He's just talking about like if you drank a gallon a day and became diabetic
>>8517606
>>8517608
Thanks.
Yeah OP. Honey is straight up sugar, what do you think it is? In fact it's got a lot of bee saliva mixed in with all the sugar so it's not as sweet as white sugar and you need to use more to sweeten things the same amount. If you eat more than say, 5 tablespoons of sugars every day you're doing major damage to your pancreas, liver and kidneys and your body's metabolic rate plummets and it becomes nearly impossible to avoid gaining weight.
Alright /ck/, is this decadent, or just degenerate? Sometimes I get a couple of cheap "Chinese" takeout food boxes, mix them together with rice, spread the mix in a baking dish, dump shredded cheese on top, and bake myself a sort of Chinese takeout casserole. It tastes good. Does anyone else do this?
I tried mixing cheese with chinese food a few times but other than buttery seafood it was never very good.
As long as it tastes good to you, it doesn't matter. What dishes do you use to make your casserole, out of curiosity?

A generic glass baking dish. Not sure of the brand.
i've been trying to make banana chips for the past 3 days. the first batch came out soft. the 2nd came out burnt. The 3rd came out soft once more.
Any tips?
I've also been baking them.
Cut the Bananas and let them sit out for a little bit to air dry. Spray them lightly with a little bit of oil and then bake them. They may need flipping in the oven after they crisp up on one side.
Alternatively if you're frying them, same thing, just fry one side and flip them and fry again.
Softness is tied to water, oil draws out water and if you can dry them a little beforehand it'll help greatly
Are you using a dehydrator? All the ones I've ever bought came in a sealed bag with a silica gel pack inside.
SLICE BANANA
DEEP FRY
REMOVE FROM OIL AND COOL
SQUASH THEM WITH SOMETHING FLAT AND HEAVY
DEEP FRY AGAIN

How fast would the culture surrounding beer, wine, and liquor and coffee and tea wither away if they no longer had alcohol or caffeine in them?
Well I mean with beer and wine it is literally the fermentation process that gives them flavor, they simply wouldn't exist without alcohol, so those cultures would be nonexistent.
I like tea and coffee regardless of whether or not it has caffeine. In fact, I only have coffee probably every couple of days because I don't like being caffeine dependent like a lot of people. So I would still drink those regardless of whether or not they gave you a buzz. And I prefer white tea the most because it has little caffeine.
>>8516737
I would still drink coffee if it didn't have caffeine, but I wouldn't be happy it was gone...
>>8516737
>drinking tea for caffeine
Dear /ck/ do butter knives go dull? Should I sharpen mine periodically?
No you don't need to. Butter knives work using pressure more than sharpness.
>>8516609
Shitpost much?
>>8516685
>implying
Everyone knows a good butter knife needs regular sharpening, the butter will bend the knife back if you dont
> go to a popular restaurant
> wait hours for a seat
> gets the food
> friends think its good
> literally just tons of butter
Why does popular restaurants use butter so much?
bacon is good on evrything
>>8516142
I think bacon is overrated desu
>>8516145
Yup, it's a flavor punch you add when your food would be shit otherwise
I must be literally retarded.
How the fuck do you make pancakes that are fat and fluffy like in all the pictures I see online? Whenever I make them they always turn out flat and sad like anime girls. I can make just about anything except some fucking pancakes. I might as well give up and just make crepes and pretend that's how God intended them.
>>8510185
You're probably overmixing. Also, you are probably using a boxed pancake batter...
>>8510187
I've tried both boxed and homemade.
>>8510188
Did you try yeast pancakes? Did you use the proper flour? Are you overmixing? Are you dumping the batter in all at once? Or doing a slow pour like you are suppose to so it piles up rather than spreads out?
Share vegan recipes for my vegan friend, /ck/. Want to make it special.

So I have the first date in 10 years and I'm cooking so I need some feedback.
I'm thinking of doing tapas, probably around 7-ish different ones? Any good ideas for some awesome tapas? I'll probably also bake some bread to have with it since then you can do all kinds of pesto and stuff on top. I'm also open to ideas to bread recipes and toppings.
Lastly I'm thinking about doing a fresh fruit desert with chocolate fondue to keep the tapas theme somewhat.
Any feedback is welcome
>>8508917
Any good ideas for some tapas? I'm thinking of doing:
>some oven roasted almonds with salt and/or paprika
>some filled mushrooms with cheese and ham
>a spicy sausage of sorts like chorizo
>baked bread
>various spreads like pesto and olive paste
>maybe a specialty cheese
I need more good ideas though
>>8508961
Also maybe some fried shrimp
>>8509018
Could maybe do some sashimi or perhaps a smoked salmon spread for the bread
Rate my lunch /ck/
